Blind Shot
[Action 01st April - Nova - OTA for interactions and reactions - but Gale to the rescue]
An Easter egg? Why not? It was free, wasn't it? Stopped at a traffic light in town, Faye takes a moment to have a few bites. She slides her visor back over her face and takes off. It's a bright, sunny afternoon, a great day for a motorcycle ride. But a few moments later, everything goes black.
There are horns blaring, people shouting. She's going fast and can't slow down. Not fast enough. More horns, more shouts. Then Faye hits metal. Hard.
Faye's bike careens off the side of a truck and spins across the road, her legs trapped beneath it. When it finally comes to a stop, her blood is spread across the tarmac, but not as badly as it would be if she hadn't been wearing her leathers that day. Faye's gloved hands shakily remove her helmet and she screams - screams in her pain, and screams at terrifying blackness. Then she tries to sit herself up, panic rising as she hyperventilates, struggling to breathe.
[Video - Later in the Week]
*Faye is recuperating at home, and trying to get used to her lack of sight. There's a thud and her communicator springs into life, the feed showing just a ceiling, but a ceiling of a rather nice room*
Where the hell did it get to?
*Next thing, the feed shows some considerable cleavage as Faye leans over it to grab it, zooming in even closer before she picks it up. When she does, the camera moves from her chest to her face, eyes open but milky white and unseeing*
Idiot...
*There's a bitterness in her voice - clearly she isn't enjoying feeling so useless*

I'm calling an ambulance! Help is on the way, it'll be okay.. [Sayaka tried to comfort, dialing for some ambulance]
Here-I'm going to get the bike off, okay? Then we'll just be at the side-they'll be here...Deep breathes.. [in the meanwhile, she looked at all the wounds on her, trying to think fast]
[Action]
What happened? What's happening? What are you doing?
Re: [Action] (Because shouting 'calm down' is going to make someone less panicky)
Calm down! You fell off your bike and..and where does it hurt? In the meanwhile, you take deep breathes, help is on the way..
Did something happen before? You're going to be okay..

*Faye grits her teeth and mutters a string of curses*
My leg...
*Her leg is bleeding and she can't seem to move it. The damage is hidden beneath her leathers but it's probably broken*
I don't know! Everything just - went dark...

[before doing anything, the ambulances did arrive] They're here, things will get better!
[curious, Sayaka waved her hand around the woman's eyes, and there wasn't a reaction] ...You're...you're blind..?
no subject
Good. I hope those medics are packing plenty of meds for the pain.
*And again she grits her teeth, not registering the girl at all*
I already said - I can't see! Nothing! Okay?
action;
He'd shove his way through the gathered crowd, muttering "Deputy, comin' through. Out of the way." Once he elbows his way through, his eyes instantly fall on that motorcycle and then those screams reach his ears, a wave of horror rushing over him. That was-]
Faye!
[That time, his shoves knocked a few people over as he rushed over to her. He was certainly not giving a damn about anyone else's well-being but Faye's right now, to hell with everyone else. He crouched next to her, gently propping up her torso with one arm and with the other, taking her hand in his.]
Faye! Faye, breathe! Slow down, I need you to try to calm down.
[Yeah, like those are words that'll help someone just in an accident, but he needed to calm her somehow. He glanced up at the bike trapping her leg and without a second thought, casting a gust of wind magic strong enough to flip it over enough to free her leg. He needed to know what happened, but those were questions that could wait. That ambulance better hurry the hell up, otherwise he's taking her on Yveltal if he has to.]
action;
She winces hard as the weight of the bike is lifted from her leg and squeezes his hand again. It takes all of her effort to take big gulping breaths. Even when her breathing slows more to normal, there is obvious pain and panic on her face*
Gale... Gale? I can't see. I can't see. It's dark. Gale. What happened? Why can't I see?
*But as soon as she gets those words out she starts to breathe too quickly again, doubling over against as her body shakes*
action;
Breathe, slow down, Faye.
[He's getting increasingly angry the longer the ambulance takes and rapidly losing his patience with them. He notices the nearby parked truck with the noticeable scuff marks, his eyes filled with fury when he lays eyes on the driver. He quietly takes a deep breath of his own, looking back down at Faye. The sudden blindness... wait, didn't this happen once before? Something to do with Attleton?]
Take it easy. I need you to tell me what you were doing. Your eyesight is likely Genessia's doing. What do you remember doing- and seeing?
[He wants to assure her that her blindness is temporary, but that's all assuming this is a repeat of that weird disease that spread once before. He had to be sure before he could give her that kind of assurance. In the meantime, some other sentient unit from the police barracks can handle the other statements. Gale knows where his focus is going to stay.]
action;
Fuck, Gale - my leg! What is wrong with it?
*There are sirens in the distance and she'd really appreciate it if they arrive soon - the leg is still in her black leather suit, but twisted at an awkward angle. She can feel her eyes sting with tears as she looks at him, or where she thinks his face is*
Driving! I was driving. Then it all went black. I hit something. I lost control and I can't see. What is wrong?
*She almost shouts that last bit in her fear, hands going to her face to try to check that her eyes are at least there. As she groans in her pain and frustration, finally some medics appear, telling her not to move, asking where the pain is. Someone shines a bright light in her eyes, and she doesn't even notice*
action;
You collided with a truck when you lost control. The bike had your leg pinned.
[He was no medical expert, so he couldn't tell if it was broken or not, but it was gonna leave a hell of a bruise at the very least. When the medics finally come over, Gale can't help but snap.]
It's about time! You're lucky this wasn't more serious!
[Okay, maybe it wasn't their faults, but Gale's tension was high seeing that this happened to Faye of all people. He grits his teeth and returned his focus to her to let the medics do their jobs. Finally.]
Listen to me, Faye. There was an incident here once before, and whatever it was, it caused people to lose senses. Maybe one or two, but numerous people went blind or deaf, the luckier ones lost different senses.
Whatever happened, I'm going to look into it. There's a good chance this is temporary. Either way, you're gonna be fine.
[She'll be fine if he has anything to say about it. So those medics better do their jobs well.]
I hate askin' all these mundane questions but I just need to make sure, did you stop anywhere or do anything before you got on your bike?
action;
*At news of what had happened, Faye again looks frail and terrified, already unable to appear much paler given the blood she had lost. If things aren't more serious, it's only thanks to the helmet she had been wearing.
Around her, the medics so their job, muttering something about a fracture, about treating her for shock. A man explains he'll need to get her on a stretcher to take her in immediately. Faye reaches out and awkwardly grabs his shoulder*
Just give me the fucking pain killers already!
*Then she turns to face Gale again, this time putting a hand on his face to get a better idea of where he is. She looks lost, eyes scanning but seeing nothing*
So - I just have to deal with this? I didn't do anything wrong - I just stopped for a snack and went for a ride. I didn't do anything wrong. Gale... I promise. This isn't my fault...
action;
[Even if it technically wasn't his business, he wanted to be kept in the loop on her injuries, and needed to know what would have to be done to accommodate her once he can get her home. He was going to help her however damn well he could.
He briefly glances at her hand on his face, his gaze softening. He hadn't thought anything off that weird sensory loss incident, but now that it happened to someone he gave a damn about, for once in his life he felt helpless.]
Don't worry, I believe you. I know this isn't your fault. I'm only askin' all of this to narrow down what could have happened.
[He gives a quiet sigh.]
I'm going to do what I can to see if there anythin' to get your sight back faster, but for now, I'm gonna help you the best I can. Don't you hesitate to ask for anything.

What in the hell? Can you see me?
*Faye shakes her head and tuts loudly in annoyance*
Damn... Did *everyone* see?
[Video]
[Video]
Yeah, but you two are either just dumb or you have weird fantasies about everyone "accidentally" watching you two get it on...
[Video]
It's always by accident, no aren't that dumb and out fantasies only take place in the bedroom. Or sometimes on a desk but that's beside the point</small...what happened to your eyes? Do you need help getting to the hospital?
[Video]
I've been to the hospital... Now I'm just hanging around at home being...utterly useless.

Miss? Are you okay? Your eyes are white.
video.
What the hell? The video is on?
*Faye curses as she tries to turn the video off, but fails*
And if I was okay, my eyes wouldn't be white, would they? Go figure it out, kid!
Re: video.
Yes. It's on miss.
[Oh dear, he just goes quiet while Faye figures this out.]
Huh? Why are you mad at me? I was worried because that doesn't look normal, that's all! Don't be mad at me.
Video.
Do you always just point out to people when they don't look 'normal'? And it's just my eyes, okay? The rest of me is... damned fine.
Re: Video.

Because I'm blind. Obviously.
