5th Shot [Video?/Action Later in the week?]

[A curious raven haired twelve year old is peering into her device with wide blue eyes behind wire rimmed glasses that might be a little too large for her. She keeps sliding them up her nose but, also wasn't about to take them off either.  She was tilting the phone left and right and for a moment there was a shot of  some trees before it gave a quick view of a nice outdoor area which just might be a park and then back to the girl's freckled face.

She shyly brushed some long hair behind her ears and still looked a little unsure of the thing in her hand. What was it and what was it doing. Eventually she got the idea that she could speak into it...like some sort of telephone. At least that's what she's figured with the few conversations she's had so far.]

Zo...vhere am I? I don't recognize anyzhing around here.

[Strangely enough, she wasn't asking about her parents like the rest of the children on the network were.]

Und vhy iz zhere candy eggs everyvhere?

[She might just have a few in her lap right now along with a lavender stuffed bunny at her side. ]

[Action! Later in the week.]

[Later in the week, once Rip's back to her adult self after who knows what kind of Shenanigans, she's finally resting again in her own home and absently finds another one of those annoying eggs. Unfortunately, that egg is the last thing she sees before everything goes black. She's taken by surprise and drops the egg and hears the tell tale crack of eggshells as she backs away.

Whatever just happened, Rip couldn't see anymore. And that...actually scared her as she stumbled over something and nearly fell on her ass. She just barely manages to catch herself and feel her way to a seat.

Sometime later, Rip can be seen in front of her apartment complex in Genessia City, just sitting outside late at night. She wanted to be outside and being on the ground was probably a safer option than the balcony or the roof with her current lack of sight. It also meant that anyone could approach her and unless she heard them, she wouldn't know they were approaching her....

Good afternoon, miss.

[A young girl who looks and sounds suspiciously like Rip... but hush. Eliot isn't going to draw any conclusion just yet.]

It seems you've woken up in Genessia. And on a rather eventful day, no less.

Well, it's Easter! A fabulous religious holiday. And it falls on April Fool's Day.

So I believe that means April Fool's Day is cancelled! We're safe this year!

It's just how the calendar worked out here, I suppose.

Ah, and my apologies. I hadn't realized... You seem new here. To Genessia? It's an unfortunate thing to say, but this place seems to kidnap us from our home worlds. It's April 1st today.

We're not quite sure the reason yet... and while getting a job is certainly useful for buying things here, you needn't worry about that yet.

In fact. You should have a key on your person that will grant you access to free, temporary housing. Do you have that key with you?

... Huh?

[That's not how the new arrival script reads, Little Rip! You're wrong!

Or maybe something strange is going on here.]

Strange... That's above my apartment... I think Ms Rip lives there.

([personal profile] anamnestik)

[A small blond boy has spotted someone who looks to be a safe and easy option. It's a lady who doesn't seem to be looking anywhere in particular... in the dead of night!

Maybe a normal child would then think "It's the dead of night. I should go home," but that isn't an option for Eliot. He remembers himself to be homeless, afraid of the workhouse, and determined to survive on his own. One way to survive would be to pickpocket people like Rip.

So he tiptoes over... only to step clumsily on a branch and make a loud cracking sound.]

... mmrrgh. [He covers his mouth and watches her carefully.]

[Oh. Now it clicks.]

You too then, huh? So both of you are...

[He shudders.] I'm not ready for kids.

[The child stays very still. He knows he can't blend in, but maybe she will over look him all the same. It isn't until she's stared his way for a good two seconds that the boy realizes something isn't quite 'right.'

Still, he knows not to move. She must have good hearing to have turned her head to face him perfectly.]

... Lady, are you blind? [He tilts his head.] Did they leave you here to die?

[RUDE. He would say, but given that he is an eternal seventeen year old... He understands.

Eliot shakes his head.]

Never mind me, Ms Rip. Are you still in your apartment? It just so happens that you're a few floors above me right now.

[He can be heard standing tall, with a bit of pride in his posture-- something indicated by how he huffs out and speaks more boldly:]

Yeah, me too! I'm not gonna die easily like the others did.

[Marching forward now, the little boy seems more relaxed. It occurs to him that Rip might live here and be out of his social class (most people are,) but he's determined to show her he's a tough and brave soul too.] These houses look expensive and biiig. Do you live here?

[The little boy has stopped in front of her now, regarding her with curious stares. She dresses like a man, but is blatantly female. Not like the little girls who wear boys' clothes to get different jobs and money.

When she mentions lovers, he makes quite the face. There's an unashamed note of disappointment in his voice, making the same almost comical face in the form of a sound:]

Oh. Lovers, huh? Lucky you.

[Though the feeling is split, it's very loud and plain: The little library doesn't know if even he is more jealous or disappointment... An adult can probably tell that he's jealous. After all, this kid has literally no one to like him, let alone love him.]

So we're not the same after all... Well. I guess it's not your fault you're happy.

[personal profile] littlelibrary 2018-04-02 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
[When she reaches for his head, the kid goes still again. He wonders if maybe he has said too much and is about to get punished again. There are times when he's so emotional and upset that he thinks he can withstand punishment, but tonight isn't one.

Fortunately, it's not a night that ends with any new scars or bruises. Just a boring adult story. No offense, Rip. He's just six and a brat.]

Well... Good for you. You're not dead and you have love.

[He frowns, debating if he should watch his tongue or keep going. With her hand on his head, he knows he could be picked up by his hair and flung away at any moment. It's a familiar threat that puts him on guard, with his shoulders tense.]

I meant! I thought you were by yourself too. But if people want you... That's fine.

Well, if you're loved then you'll go in the ground and not on the street.

[When she takes her hand back, he tilts his head back to look at her again. Even if she can't see him making eye contact, it's important that he be able to read her. Just for the sake of his survival.

Knowing she has a house and loved ones leads him to watch his tongue. Just a bit... But she's not the police. People who aren't the police are nicer, even when he's honest. And Rip is blind. She might understand.]

I don't know where I am. I don't know where to sell this for money. [He rummages around in his pockets, then holds up Eliot's trademark pocket watch. It has no meaning to the younger Eliot. Even its special melody has no affect on him right now.]

If you have a house and people, do you have money? I'll sell it to you.
