[Detective Karrin Murphy is sitting at her desk in the Genessia City police department when she turns on the screen. It's been the week of paper work and hectic happenings.]

Hello, to those I do not know. My name is Karrin Murphy, I am a detective with the Genessia City Police Department. We are helping the sudden influx of lost kids. We are currently unsure of the cause but it looks to be an April Fools prank caused by eggs. [Does she sound annoyed? She's annoyed.] Please inform us if there is a child without a guardian. Until everything is reversed we'd like to continue keeping the city and its residence safe.

[Now, to her second order of business.]

The reason I believe it's these eggs is because I found on one my desk and got this... [She turns the screen so that people can see her desk surrounded by doughnuts. She's a police officer, get it...] Don't touch them if you don't want a questionable results.

[She really doesn't want to clean the icing off of her things or rewrite some of her paper work.]

Aye, that would explain it. [he's resting on a balcony, a glimpse in the windows behind him may show a house packed with underwear. ...Best not to ask]

Police, are you? [he lights a cigar and grins at her] Made any arrests lately?

[Karrin raises an eyebrow at the sight behind him. Apparently she isn't the only one having problems.]

Been a little buried in this egg nonsense. [She's trying not to sound annoyed but there is no hiding the tension in her voice and frame as she begins to toss from of the donuts from her desk to the trashcan. She has so many forms she now has to refill out because they're covered in frosting.]

Is there something I can help you with?

[he chuckles] Seems like you could use a bit of a break. [but then a shrug] Nothing in particular. Just haven't heard of the police force. What they do. How they operate. There seems to be two worlds here, if you haven't noticed. Them and us. And you are one of us and the police force you serve, too, I wager. [he leans back on his seat, feet crossed at the ankle on the balcony rail]

So how does it work. How do you go about arresting people? What if they're strong enough to level a city block?

[Murphy is the definition of a workaholic. She can always use a break and usually refuses to do so; there is always more work to be done.]

You don't know what the police do? [She pauses and raises a skeptical eye at him.] We serve to protect the people, all of the people, and arrest those who break the laws of this city. [In Murphy's mind, there is no them and us. The people who live here have just as much of a right to live in peace as anyone else does.]

The guardians and deputies help and there is a jail that can keep even those strong enough to level a city block. You aren't planning to commit a crime are you?

Aye... I get that... [he's not stupid] But I mean, how? There are people with great abilities around here. Supernatural ones as well. How do you fight against those kinds of odds.

There are those with power on the side of the police and we use our heads.

[She is trying to stay calm but she's having a shitty day and he's asking very stupid questions. His world must be very different from hers if this is the sort of shit that he's used too.]

Is that right? Well... I hope they're prepared... [she seems rather antagonized. Which is good. It's been a while since he's hassled someone of the law]

Especially given what I know.

[Karrin is very serious about her job and keeping the peace. This might not be Chicago but she will not let people hurt innocent people. It's something that she feels very passionate about.]

And what is it that you know?

[She wrinkles her cute little nose in a look of skepticism. Karrin knows when someone is pulling her along though she doesn't want to dismiss it just in case he has some real information.

At least he's not as insufferable as Dresden.]

Oh, you'll find out. [he winks and ends the feed.]

Just an unplanned dye job via egg. [The voice belongs to the shy girl from the file room who is usually a redhead.]

[Karrin looks up and offers the girl an apologetic smile.] Looks like we both got our work cut out for us.

[Though Murphy would have preferred a dye job over a desk covered in sticky donuts.]

Thankfully not long right? Usual pattern is local weird lasts about a week on average.

And don't think we've met? I'm Kristen Kringle and based in the file room.

Let's hope this is usual.

[Karrin is still sure she's going to have to clean up all these awful donuts.]

I'm sorry. I'm Karrin Murphy. I'm one of the new Detectives here. I had arrived in Genessia about a month ago now. [Or near to it.] It's a pleasure to meet you Ms. Kringle.

You and me both. [Kristen is not keen since she's sure she looks worse as a blonde.]

And no worries, its usually crazy here even on a normal day. Likewise as well.

Seems like all these arrivals cause some havoc on the system.

[She looks up as she tosses a particularly sticky donut in the trash. She doesn't think she'll ever live this one down.]

Do the locals and those arriving know that there are laws or what they are?

[Karrin doesn't think so.]
