Easter illusion: Eggs, Presents and a bothersome Voice [Video/Action]

[As the feed turns on, Mavis is sitting down on a low brick wall close to Fairy Haven's main entrance. She looks deeply in thought. There's a basket full of colorful eggs set next to her. After a few seconds a voice can be heard, but it's not Mavis' voice. It sounds like the voice of a man in his mid-forties, the same kind of voice that usually makes off-screen comments during certain tv shows.]

Here we find Mavis Vermillion, Guardian of Fayren and Guild Master of Fairy Tail, reflecting on the current event and its possible consequences for the citizens of Genessia.

So, apparently, it's not color or pattern related... It does not depend on the day or on the hour on which you find them, nor does it depend on their location. It only affects the person who touches them, and only if picked up with bare hands.

The plushies you can find in those eggs are really cute and the pranks appear to be rather harmless, and still pretty funny.

The most common side-effect seems to be 'de-aging'. The victims revert to a younger version of themselves and lose their memories in the process. Another one seems to be the loss of one of their senses. ...Hopefully, like for the previous events, those side-effects shouldn't last longer than a week.

Based on what I've seen, Pokémon can not be affected.

By finding the right egg, one might also get a wonderful storyteller who, thanks to his gorgeous descriptions and witty comments, will make your life so much more fascinating for other people to watch.

Yeah, that too... Though, the 'wonderful storyteller' seems to be reformulating thoughts quite a bit at times.

Busy as she was criticizing her wonderful storyteller, Mavis did not notice that her communication device accidentally turned on.

...what?

[She turns to look at the screen and realizes that the voice told her the truth. Instead of being annoyed or fustrated, Mavis simply smiles.]

Well, whatever's going on shouldn't prevent everyone from having a wonderful Easter week!

[And since she's broadcasting this on Genessia's network, she might as well make the most of it.]

Also, I've been wondering... I've heard of bells and a bunny, but maybe some people have different Easter traditions? If so, I'd be happy to hear about them.

Although, if it's described in a book that exists in Genessia, Mavis has probably already read about it.

And feel free to let me know, if you or someone you known, had to suffer from different side-effects further to touching an egg.

[Different from de-aging and getting a storytell, she means.]

I have noticed a lot of people are turning into children upon finding these eggs... My guardian included.

[And here's Anastasia, a full grown beauty of an adult after accidentally picking up an egg the other day.]

Though it appears the reverse happened to me.

So some eggs make one age, instead of de-age. I wonder if it would have worked on me, despite the curse.

[If the voice is going to betray all her thoughts, she should be careful.]

Well, I... I'm not ready to be an adult. I don't know the first thing about being one in Genessia.

{ Zeref could hear the voice all the way from the main hall of Fairy Haven. It was... surprisingly loud. It had gotten his attention, but not as much as Mavis' voice had.

He's standing in the doorway when Mavis' broadcast ends. }

What's that voice? You said something about eggs before... is that what you and the voice were talking about?

Her memories were not tampered with, though. Is it because she turned older and not younger?

[Mavis shakes her head, forcing herself to focus on the conversation.]

Sorry. Mine is pretty obvious.

There's a stupid voice that comments on everything I do, say or think.

Ah, Zeref. I didn't see you there. Have you been here for long?

Keep your thoughts in check, keep your thoughts in check...

Yes. Sort of. But we're not really talking together. The voice just makes comment but it can't give me answers I don't already have.

That is not going to be very pleasant.

[She bites her tongue to mention any examples. Embarrassing secrets, dark secrets, regrets best forgotten, or even any secret crushes. Anastasia feels lucky to become an adult instead of getting a narrator with no respect for privacy.]

Our fearless heroin is indeed in quite a delicate situation. How will she deal?

[Mavis lets out a small nervous laughter.] Hopefully, the effects of the eggs won't last for too long.

It is so.

I do not feel right in this body.

[Anastasia as an adult is quite lovely, though. But it is not her time. Not yet, if ever.]

{ Oh. Well... that must be annoying. }

Have you found anything new about them? Is it magic, or something else? { She told him that he was supposed to be older than this, and he's gathered now that he's been in this world a lot longer than he thinks he has. If that's true, he'd like to remember, and soon. }

It's definitely some sort of magic. Though, I'm not sure of its origin just yet.

Maybe you could help me figuring it out?

[And Mavis can't help but feel a pang of envy. Because she's stuck in this body forever.]

[Anastasia clicks it over to a private video.]

[No comment from the narrator as with every other moment? Anastasia will be careful not to jinx it.]

This foreign magic? Could it be a curse? Because Mavis knows everything about curses that prevent people from aging!

[A pause...]

The Goddesses of my world wanted to use me as a weapon. So they put some of their power into me. They promised to take that extra power away when I fulfilled my purpose. Because of that, I don't classify as "normal" anymore.

I promise.

She's sincere. She genuinely cares about you, Anastasia.

Goddesses?

Why is it always gods and goddesses?

A weapon against what? Or whom?

[Because Godesses are cooler than narrators.]

A man named Eruzael. In the ancient days, he was one of three advisors to the Goddesses. But he betrayed them all, and stole power from a Goddess and became a demi-god himself with the goal to become the world's one true God-King. He brought about what we called the Twilight of the Gods, and he could only be sealed away by the remaining advisors.

[She took a breath before continuing.]

I'm a compatible vessel. Meaning, I can use magic like "he" can. I needed to travel to the dimension where the Goddesses are confined to and become their weapon. Eruzael is doing the same. He and I are about evenly matched before I was brought here. According to Sayame, the Goddess of Oceans, it was pure bad luck that it was me to be the vessel.

I, uh... I've never heard of any kind of magic that does something like this, but... sure, I can help you.

{ Never thought she'd see the day? Zeref wasn't one to brag, but it was true that the Mildian Magical Academy considered him a genius. But somehow, hearing that sentiment from Mavis meant so much more. }

We can figure it out. I'm surprised you weren't at Mildian... I thought all of the world's greatest magical minds studied there.

[True, they are. But it's not really what this narrator was hinted at. It really talks way too much...]

...Bad luck? How can it be bad luck to have the power to save your world from a God-Kind wannabe?

If Fairy Heart is a weapon, then maybe Mavis could be seen as a compatible vessel. Acnologia certainly wouldn't mind being called God-King... or maybe God-Dragon-King.

[Mavis glared at nothing in particular, so it's safe to assume she's glaring at the invisible narrator.]

Don't pay attention. Please continue.

[Mavis blushes slightly at the compliment and smiles.]

I was homeschooled, mostly. Then, my parents died when I was still a child and going so far from my home island to study was not really an option.

I'm sure I would have loved studying there, though.

[She'll ignore it. Anastasia was busy trying to think of how to explain it.]

A specific kind of person is needed to be a suitable vessel. For one, it has to be in a lineage of the original people; with a dormant "gene" to use magic with the capacity to re-awaken, and give magic back to humans. Had Eruzael awakened earlier, it would be my father, the first man of this new age to use magic, to be the weapon.

Had he awakened later, it would still be me, but as an adult and developed enough to fully handle this magic, or my children.

I believe the strength of your mind is more important than the strength of your body in that kind of context.

[She's the living proof of that, after all.]

Are you scared it might be too much for you to handle? Because if so, remember you never have to deal with things on your own. You can always rely on the people you love.

I... I suppose there is some truth to that... But it only takes one mistake for me to suddenly lose control, and cause destruction that no one was prepared for. I thought my companions understood this, but they...

[They became afraid of her and started doubting her over all ability.]

...The Goddesses are dormant now, but I can feel them beginning to re-awaken some.

[A soft smile.] You might think they doubted you but what happens, most of the time, it that when we start doubted ourselves, we think everyone does too. Yet, friends usually have even more faith in us than we do.

If the feeling of their awakening gets stronger, just let me know. I'll always be there for you.

What can you do, exactly?

[She's genuinely curious.]

[Smugly.] Why, I can do a lot of things. There's a reason why I'm the guild master of Fairy Tail, you know?

For instance, I'm very good at creating magical barriers. I can protect a whole island if need be.

She actually did that once!

[A barrier would've been nice to have, but the disaster she caused at Absteigand is a wish made too late.]

I see... Is it possible to make contact with the Goddesses?

[Mavis tilts her head.] What do you mean by that?

[Yeah, what does she mean?]

I... I don't know. Maybe... A way to just talk to them, find out why it had to be me anyway, or see if they will release me from their influence so I can age normally again...

Talk to a God to try and negociate a gift or a curse? That's not how things work...

Usually, to communicate with a God or a Goddess, one needs an altar made specifically for that deity.

But if you feel them, maybe you already have a special connection with them. Have you tried praying?

I don't know how... The Goddesses were forcefully removed from the world countless millennia. All methods to interact with them are long gone, with only bits and pieces used to re-invent Pankosmiism.
A Pankosminite cleric may know how, but... There isn't one here. And there's no gateway to their elemental domains either...

... my parents died too. { He can definitely relate to that. Were Mavis and her family also victims of the Dragon Civil War? } Same with my little brother. Dragons. I was the only survivor, and I guess they could tell I could become a mage, so they shipped me off to Mildian.

I can't really complain, though. It's given me time to study the magic I've been wanting to study ever since that night.

[She leans closer to him and lays a soft butterfly kiss on top of his head.] You must have felt very lonely.

What did you like studying the most about magic?

{ Did she just...? She did. Zeref blushed profusely, his face as red as could be. Were it not for the sad topic, he'd be too embarrassed to speak, but thankfully, Mavis' change of subject gave him an out. }

I'm... well... breaking new ground. Nobody's ever attempted to study what I'm studying.
