[The feed kicks on to a familiar adolescent girl, happily wearing her school uniform that she got on her birthday last month.]

I apologize for coming on the network in my school uniform, but I'm just happy all this rotten egg business is over.

[A happy twirl~ She's a time-locked kid, leave her alone.]

I was beginning to worry that I wouldn't be able to attend my first ever "normal" school at the Second Hunnouji Academy.

Has anyone here attended a school before? If so, can you tell me about what it was like? I was homeschooled, so I don't know what it's like and I would really like to hear your stories.

Ana~!

Eheh. I haven't attended school in a really long time... but when I did, it was important to take notes! Everyone always asked me for my notes. It's how I made all of my friends!

[personal profile] stillsmiling 2018-04-09 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I bet you'd be really popular!

Plus, it was always the cute girls and boys who got the most attention. Everyone will love you, Ana!

[And whoosh, he's taken along for the ride.]

There was a lot of math, some language courses, history, science... Ehehe! My sisters found science scary, though. Science can kill spirits, after all. But I did my best anyway!

I attended college for a little while. The campus was beautiful and lovely to walk in, but the thing itself was dull. Would that one could be homseschooled forever, eh? Alas, one needs a degree for reasons that escape me at the moment. Much of the "learning" was purely verbal, and thus, slower than necessary. Goodness knows why the student body weren't merely assigned books to read.

Mm, I suppose. College wasn't really pursued for its own sake. It was more for certification; one did well on tests and they passed the class and...well, things went on like that till graduation. Many of the subjects were relatively simple affairs--math and things--with not much to discuss. Nothing relevant to the coursework, anyway.

Things used to be like that, on Earth. Perhaps some still are, but the sort of schooling one got up to, as far as I knew, was a means to an end in establishing a career.

Aha, it could be, especially if you went into advanced fields. When one begins to walk that path, the first hurdle is what's called "general ed" studies; broad and banal topics everyone must pass before branching out into more relevant and specialized disciplines.

No, thank God. Some, yes, like medical jobs could only be attained upon plenty of college. About eight years, sometimes more. But others, like trade jobs, took little more than, say, acquiring the relevant skills through apprenticeship.

In hindsight I probably should've tried something like that; it would certainly have been more interesting. Useful too.

What were you going to school to learn, Anastasia?

Ah, I refer rather to your royal homeschooling. But, then, I suppose one could guess: heraldry and ballroom dancing and...falconry, perhaps? That'd be fun, eh?

Well, good for you all the same. Star--Satsuki's a lovely teacher. Goodness knows I've learned plenty from her.

That's too bad. No animal husbandry whatsoever, eh?

[He's kinda into aminals.]

Aheh, probably not. She can be brutally efficient, sometimes. She's likely to hone in on your greatest weakness and shore that up. She certainly won't waste time rehearsing old material, I'll bet.

That or learn you in oriental affairs; she's very fond of that.

Hah, what's a "hot class"?

[That must be some education slang, and not to do with temperature.]

Hmhm, if you mean hippology or lessons in horse-back riding, it would. Can you ride well?

Academic weaknesses. Though I've no doubt if she thought that could be overcome through even traumatic means, she'd do so ardently.

[Sounds like a valuable currency.]

More's the pity. And now we've no horses! I wonder if the same principles would apply to any mounted beast? Like hamsters...

[No reason.]

[NO. REASON.]

You haven't met Hamusuke? I think she used to be ridden, once. I'd fain learn how and try that myself.

Ahaha, careful. Wouldn't want any overzealous witch-hunters to get the wrong idea.

[But he'd never do that. Ever.]

Certainly, on the inside. Outside sometimes too, when they, ah, "let their hair down." But I'm sure they've plenty of spellcraft to distort their forms into whatever shape they please, especially if it's to fool the trusting.

You really can't be too careful around those crones.

Aheh, she's interesting to meet for the visuals alone. Should you ever find yourself visiting the Fayren castle, ask for her. I think she's on guard duty there now.

Haha, then it can't have been very interesting. For reference: one's experiences with formal education. I related that mine were very dull--so much so they, apparently, elude memory--and you, in return, report that yours are likely to be much more exciting, for which I'm very glad, for I'm on very good terms with your school principle.

Well, hopefully things will turn out as well as we both hope, eh?

So long as you've your priorities. Are there any others enrolling there too?

[Or is it full of FAAAAAKES]

Huh! Private lessons, perhaps. Goodness knows I've been trying to fill her school with whomever looked like a promising pupil. Can't see the harm in asking, but then again, there's time yet. Bound to be plenty of students, now or incoming, that could lengthen her role call.

Well, I wish you luck in your academic endeavors all the same.

It's a special school actually. It's a school for Monsters. It's called Monster High.

[There were so many normies around, and yet it seemed like there wasn't anyone stopping her from talking to them.]

It's not in this place... it's somewhere else, far, far away.

[A sigh] yes but please, don't talk about it with other people. Doing so can have consequences.

[Like all of reality unraveling into narrative.]

Draculaura.

[well the last thing she wanted to find out is that a narrator had to self insert into her story again, AND asking the Readers to bail them out once more.]

Yeah, Draculaura.

[She certainly ISN'T. Not to this surly not-dad.]

Just a few hours. I haven't made a blogpost yet.

I don't have any normie friends to be honest. Tash is a ghost after all, so I'm just not really able to get normies as friends yet.

I never attended school myself but I always wanted too. My friend Zeira did. It looked fun.

[She could only see little of it from bringing her her lunch but still, it looked cool. You got to learn things and read books and talk about the books you'd read. What's not to like?]
fairysoul: (I have an idea)

[personal profile] fairysoul 2018-04-23 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
No, I... really wanted to but it never happened. My parents and my friends taught me a lot.

Books taught me a lot, too.

[Mavis chuckles a bit at that.] I'm not sure I have what it takes to be a teacher. [And she most likely wouldn't have time to be a teacher with her job as a City Guardian and with her being the Master of Fairy Tail.]

But if you ever need help with homework or some subject in particular, I'll be most happy to help you.
