[The video starts... and it's clearly that the person using this device has no idea what to do with it because it's pointed away from it and you can see the bottom of his hand.]

You bastards, where the hell is Agumon?! I don't care that you brought me here, but if one of you doesn't tell me where my follower went, there'll be hell to pay!

[...]

Oh, by the way, I'm Masaru Daimon, the number one street fighter in Japan! Remember it!

[He lowers the phone, and starts walking. If you listen and watch long enough you can see him start asking random people about this "Agumon" character.]

[Hikari would remember, alright. But not because of any street fighter claim. Because she had just heard a name she recognized coming from a voice she definitely did not:]

...did you say 'Agumon'?

[There's a moment before he stops, and lifts his phone back up to where his face would be.]

Eh?! Dangit, how am I supposed to see you and record myself, huh? Oh, screw it!

[He turns it around, and there's his face. Immediately, he looks embarrassed for cursing so much in reply to a girl.]

Oh geez, sorry. Yeah, uh... he's my partner. He's this kinda frog-looking yellow thing?

[A pause.]

...Hey do I know you?

[While the language didn't seem to affect her all that much, she still seemed momentarily taken aback by the latter question. Blinking twice as his face came into view. Staring at it, as if trying to place it somewhere in her memories. It...seemed like she should recognize him. From somewhere.]

I'm Hikari. Hikari Yagami.

[A pause, to see if he reacted to her name in any way. Followed by:]

And I know what Agumon looks like. He's Oniichan's partner, too.

"Oniichan?" Your brother has an Agumon too...?

[It takes him a few more seconds.]

... Is your brother named Taichi Yagami?

[Street Fighter? Should he worry about hadokens? Shoto scum!]

I'd bet good money he's right where you left him. Anyway, hello! I'm Ted! Street fighter, eh? For pleasure or necessity? And how old are you?

[Cause sparring could be fun, though picking on a fourteen year-old might be less than honorable.]

Uh, why the heck do you care how old I am?

... And what do you mean "right where I left him"?

[Her brows rose, but the surprise was mild. There were any number of explanations, some that made more sense than others...which meant, knowing their luck, it would be the least likely explanation of all that turned out to be true.]

So you do know Oniichan.

[Masaru's face lights up.]

Of course I do! Now I know why I recognize you! You're Taichi's little sister, right? Don't you remember? That old clockshop owner gathered all of us to stop that Quartzmon bas-... jerk that was threatening Taiki's world. It wasn't even that long ago!

Though uh, now that I think about it, he took you guys from the past. Uhm.

So I know how appropriate a spar might be, interest pending of course.

I, haha, don't know how to phrase that simpler. Wherever you saw or knew him last, the smart money's on that state of affairs remaining.

[She was right. It was the least likely explanations that turned out to be true.]

I feel like...I should remember what you're saying. [Her lips pressed together. Looking slightly nervous for a moment before she shook her head.] ...but, no. I'm sorry. I don't...think I remember.

Maybe you should ask Oniichan. He's here too.

... What do you know about Agumon? You sound like you're tryin' to make me give up 'em!

[That...sounds really extreme.]

Oh, I don't know much. Well, the suffix, if that's what "mon" is, is familiar. Known many so-called. But forsake any thought on forsaking! It's probably worlds better he isn't here, really.

But if you don't. I guess I should start by explaining I'm from a different world with its own Digimon and Digital World. My Agumon is a bit, uh, different from the one you probably know.

He. Uh. It, I guess, was trying to kill everybody. That's why.

... Yeah, you sound really suspicious.

A, heh, good enough reason.

[He reconsiders a sparring match. Sounds like it'd get too intense for the world.]

I, ah, apologize for any suspect acoustics...

[Sounds?]

Don't throw big words at me, pal. My partner counts on me, and me on him. If you think it's a good idea, you can get a reply from my fist.

[She echoed the sentiment again, genuinely feeling bad. Her memories seemed to be getting a lot fuzzier these days, it seemed. First, there were those last minutes in the Digital World before she'd been brought to Genessia...and, to be honest, those first several hours after...]

[...though, admittedly, there'd been a fairly good reason for her being so out of it then...]

[...but now, here was a new Chosen she didn't recognize, speaking about a time they had fought together. And she didn't remember. Her first instinct was to suspect Homeostasis again...but, somehow, Hikari had a hunch even they weren't to blame this time either.]

I'm sure he is different. If he's your partner, and not Oniichan's. [Though she did force a faint smile.] But he's probably still like Oniichan's Agumon in other ways.

I'll, heh, try to keep things monosyllabic.

[Except for that one.]

[Masaru isn't the type of person who you'd expect to be able to talk to girls, and to be fair, he isn't... but he's also a big brother, and he recognizes the way Hikari seems to be feeling.

He smiles softly, and starts to speak more softly.]

Well, they both like to talk about food. But mine is a bit bigger, he wears red straps on his arms, he evolves into different kinds'a Greymon...

... My first what? I said my FIST, joker.

Right, right! Forgive the carelessness. Does your fist often so respond to good ideas?

[He might not have been the type, but he seemed to be doing well enough. To the point where, particularly at his first comment, she even gave a slight giggle.]

Agumon and food. That sounds about right.

It responds to BAD ideas that are BAD. What's so good about separating two people who rely on each other?

Hey, guess they need it cuz of all the fightin' they do.

... Are you okay? You seem, uh. Sad about somethin'.

Ah! Now you've sense.

That's not quite what I meant; obviously separating the codependent is ill fortune. But if he had come, then what you'd have is not Agumon, but a flawless and sophisticated doll that would merely perfectly play his part; a very disturbing thing.

Unless, I suppose, what he did is more important to you than his very being. If you prized function over frankness, then...

[He trails off. The subject's too ghoulish to ponder much further]
