[As usual, Lydia is being a terrible shitlord and just chilling... outside this time, it seems, if the fact her aurorus is happily nuzzling her shoulder like the giant dork he is. Lovely, that.

She's grinning at the camera for a moment before leaning back, here we go.]

I have a question for you, darlings, a hypothetical if you will. Mostly was thinking about recent going-ons and the interesting differences I've noticed between this place and home, cultural things, I guess.

What's everyone's opinions on necromancers? Yes, I mean the people that raise the dead or whatever they tend to do where you're from, they're a legitimate school of magic back home along with the major ones but even then there's still stigma there. Are they living humans or are they undead like liches or something? And if it can be either, is there a difference between them? Do people specialize in more than one school or type of magic?

Color me curious, if you will. Mind, I'm an illusionist, have been since I was way young, so I can't say I know much about other schools other than what I've heard in books and seen from wizards that specialize in that sort of thing~

[raises a brow]

IT depends on what you use your necromancy for. I think it's a fun way to mess up and have an army of zombies on your side. [Kii chuckled]

Any necromancer is interesting, but most of the time they are VERY annoying, especially with their excitement of raising the dead. If it wasn't for that, I'd find what they do..delightful. To bring someone back into the living as a full living creature to S U F F E R. HAhahahaha..

[personal profile] fadedscarlet 2018-04-14 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Most likely? When you can do magic, you do what you can to play with it for your own gain.

They become EXTRA than their specialty.

[smirks] Are you something a little more..extra, girl?

[personal profile] fadedscarlet 2018-04-14 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
For starters I wouldn't trust you for shit because you're an Illusionist-someone who makes someone believe in something that's not there.

[sighs] Besides, I've seen enough of magic, it kind of beats the sparkle out of ya. I doubt your magic isn't worth a thing.

[actually you're just envious, but okay there]

[personal profile] fadedscarlet 2018-04-14 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
When and where? I won't pay you unless I'm impressed.

Despite these red flashy bucks, I'm not risking wasting it on the likes of a faker.

[Kii was impressed by her patience..good. Now to think of a way to break Lydia into hating them]
fadedscarlet: (I cant belieb)

[personal profile] fadedscarlet 2018-04-15 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
...Which brings up SO many questions. How do you have free time? Are you a Master of Time too among your dumb--oh sorry FANCY magic?

[raises a brow]

-And another thing, why are these places separated? A proper kidnapper would have it all come together and see the chaos settle in. Make it a trapped game of who will be the last one standing OR taking down the kidnapper. Either or.

[huffs and mutters] ..Can't believe I'm in a Hunger Games universe what is this..

[She's a little amused as the conversation suddenly turns to private.]

Your place iz easy enough to find in zhe voods, I'm razher sure I could find it blind.

[And she's probably right, Rip would probably find Wonderland interesting.]

Should I be vorried zhat zhere are two of you now~?

[So very true. Rip does like her privacy.]

Ah, but zhe places out in zhe open are zometimes zhe hardest ones to get into.

[Meaning, she knew better than to drop in without an invite.]

Zhen it sounds like I'll get along vith both of your vonderfully

[It also meant Rip would rather stay on their good sides just to remain off the receiving end of whatever hell they might dish up. She has more than enough nightmares that she doesn't need to add more to the pile.]

[That just made Rip laugh. Good, they were on the same page! Rip met Lydia's grin with a vicious one of her own when she heard the next part. Now that had her interests.]

Zhen it sounds like ve need to experiment. Making zhem suffer before I devour zhem alvays adds such a delicious flavor to zheir blood. Besides, zheir screams are alzo lovely music to dine to.

I find necromancers to be interesting. I guess I would have to say that those raised are undead, since would they not have already died before?

As for me, I'm a jack of all trades magician. Are you perhaps interested in the art?

They're corpse fuckers.

[Belial.]

And I hardly say that as a cutesy nickname. They can be quite powerful if they live long enough to truly control their magic, but that fails to change the fact that each one of them I've met would sooner stick it in a cadaver than in warm and willing flesh.

[And honestly? It's kinda hard to tell how much of his tone is disgust and how much is put out and bitter.]

Believe me, luv, I don't disagree with you in the least.

It used to be necromancy was as fine and powerful an art as any other. I've taken many practitioners under my wing over the centuries, but these days it's all raise zombies this, corpse orgies that, and let's resurrect our god that's dead for a reason and pretend that he won't simply erase us with all the rest of the bloody planes.

[How long has that rant been sitting in him?? Deep breath.]

It's quite disappointing, really. Children these days just don't have the same respect for the world that they used to.

I can't say I'm fond of the idea of getting the dead to do your dirty work for you. On top of that, it disrupts the balance between life and death, and could cause natural disasters, never mind whatever trouble the undead stir up.

As for the creatures I've seen who have raised the dead? I can't really call them necromancers...

My Master is skilled in Necromancy. He is kind and powerful.

The Orb of Death called him the Great King of Death and wanted to be by his side.

He made a friend for me to train with, that he did.

A much weaker necromancer had this orb before my master killed him. It is specific to my world.

It is an intelligent item. Master had me keep it in my cheek pouch, but it did not follow me to this new world.

Master is Ainz Ooal Gown. He isn't in charge of the Afterlife. He rules Nazarick.

I am unfamiliar with this Raven Queen, that I am.

That sounds like it's for the best.

I mean, I suppose it would be helpful, in some cases, to be able to speak to a dead person after the fact. I suppose I just think the ones who are gone should be left there.

[ As much as she'd want some of them back. ]

When people ask why I get so irritated with the treatment of necromancy in this world, I'm going to point to the responses in this post. In particular because most of the idiots replying to this post don't even have any idea that necromancy isn't just "raise my dead relatives and create an army of suffering." If any of them had actually bothered to do research, they'd realize that necromancy actually encapsulates any number of fields that involve communication with the deceased and as with any other field, the criminal element of the lot does not represent the whole and needs to stop being the only ones people think of.

Also? Some of us who do utilize the deceased to fight for us were born with this ability and use it to protect others. But no, no one ever talks about that. They'd rather stick to their ignorant notions they got from a singular personal experience or a poorly made movie.

[ Weiss is 1000% done with all the assholes who keep talking bad about raising the dead as if people who do it are all clearly evil criminals thanks. ]

It's amazing to me how people refuse to think anything other than their preconceived notions about it. I'm not going to pretend I'm well-practiced in any of the magics associated with it. My world has.. strange rules about magic, but we do have abilities that are born from our soul called semblances. Mine includes the ability to summon any creature I kill to my side. I thought being open about it alongside what else I've done might help everyone else who has had to deal with discrimination for it, but it seems like people would rather elect to simply ignore that and continue calling the whole of the necromancy field evil or underhanded or whatever other insults they have.

[ She knows a couple of people who have at least come around on it, but still. ]

There are plenty of positive purposes for it and as long as you aren't causing suffering, I think things like what you've done to understand things for the purpose of bringing justice is rather noble.

Hello, Lydia.

Where I'm from, there aren't strongly delineated schools of magic. I've met several people you might consider necromancers, but none of them would call themselves that. There are humans, undead, and monsters who can speak to and raise the dead, and monsters tend to be more powerful, but there's not much difference other than that.

Most humans don't believe that magic exists, so that keeps there from being much stigma, though self-proclaimed mediums are more accepted than the idea of making ghouls or zombies. Among monsters and the undead, no one really cares.
