[Baldur had been around for the past couple days and boy did he hate this world already. It was boring, it was dull. There was no fighting going on like he was all that use to and in all honesty... he had better things to do. But he at least knew that bitching and moaning wasn't exactly going to get anything done. So he knew the best thing was to bind his time, gather information and see who he could use or hell forbid work with in order to achieve what goals he had.

Getting home for one and gaining the title of King, maybe kill one of the higher angels for good measure to ensure that he is better than the others. But first thing first, he found himself wandering around town, keeping an eye out while at the same time fiddling with the necklace that he had placed around his neck. He assumed that people who might be like him may have such a necklace themselves, so perhaps that was the best place to start.

So expect a demon to be leaning against the wall, watching people walk by.]

Hi. Before anyone steps forward in order to say the same thing you say a million times to every new arrival. Don't. I already got the information. [Baldur didn't also want to deal with that side of things anyway when he was fully capable of it himself. However, there was one thing he wasn't good at. Actual work. So figuring out what to do was not something he understood fully.]

No, my problem comes from figuring out work. I have not worked a day in my life, so I'm a bit puzzled on what to do. Preferably I would like something that makes information gathering easier if such a thing exists.

[Because he needs to know who he could work with here, while keeping up a guise of not looking like a complete dick, at least right now. He needed people to be in a false sense of security.]

Though if not something exact, I guess bartender would do if there are places hiring. I know people like to talk after all.

[Azure was continuing her exploration of the city, carrying a notepad today as she observed and wrote down different observations. Somethings she didn't understand and would ask about it later, others were observations on interaction and information she found interesting to note for herself. The social dynamic between the citizens was very interesting to her. She was eager to learn more about all the new things she was coming across, it felt refreshing compared to where she came from.

The woman paused next to a corner, jotting something down in her notepad before looking over to see the dark clad young man. Staring at him, she couldn't help but feel something felt off, she wasn't quite sure what though. Not able to put a finger on it yet, she noticed the necklace he was toying with before finally speaking.]

That's a beautiful necklace you have. Did you get it from around here?

[Baldur had taken a moment to throw the thing up in the air and catch it again. He had started to become a little bored, more so when his observations akin to seeing a bunch of happy be make him want to be sick. He was pretty sure he was a lonely demon stuck in a world filled with nothing but angels. Pretty much akin to his biggest nightmare.

But he heard the words and glanced over slightly. Right now everyone seemed too... nicey-nicey, which probably meant if he acted his usual assholish self something might happen that he might not want. But at the same time, he knew he couldn't put on the face of an angel. It would make him physically ill in his mind. So he figured he'd figure out what would be a good idea.]

I stole it off some guy. [There was a lot of sarcasm in his voice.] I figured he didn't need it.

[Azure quirked a brow. She was bound to come across someone who wasn't as friendly as she was attempting to be sometime soon. She was just expecting it to have been because of something she actually did. She shifted her weight to one leg before putting up her notebook and pen.]

Is that so? Shame, I wanted one for myself.

[She offered him a welcoming smile, gazing at him with curious blue eyes as she tilted her head slightly.]

May I take a better look at it so I can keep an eye out around the jewelry stores?

Very much doubt you'll find it in the shops here since it appears they only appear in those pods people wake up in.

[This was about the extent he figured. He soon moved to put it in his pocket, he had no want to put it on, for the time being, it didn't need to be worn either was a guess of his anyway. he had yet to test that out.]

Which by the way was a blast to wake up in. Never expected that.

Ah, how unfortunate for that person then.

[He was an odd one to figure out for her so far.]

Waking up in that cocoon-like structure was indeed odd.

[She expected her death more than anything. Waking up with a second chance in a whole new world seemed like a blessing and a curse.]

I mean if you want to kidnap someone, at least tie them up to something.

[He could think of various ways in which to do that, but he wasn't going to be that open about them.]

But I guess this isn't that bad.

[She tilted her head slightly as he moved the conversation into a new direction, though it did not seem to be out of the ordinary for most people she met.]

But who would kidnap so many different people, from different times as well as places? For what purpose does it serve? I hear people just disappear for no reason too. There's no rhyme or reason.

Does anyone actually need a reason for anything they do?

[He gives a small shrug for a moment. In his mind, he sometimes did things simply because he wanted to. No other reason than that.]

Maybe whoever is doing it is just doing it for shits and giggles. see how people react to certain situations and if they are bored as fuck send them away again.

While I see merits in the reasons you bring up, I just feel like there should be more motive.

[Azure then shrugged her shoulders, there was no point in arguing theories. She was no philosopher after all.]

Maybe there is. However, I have yet to really observe much since I arrived.

[He knew there was always the possibility of there being another motive, but for him, shits and giggles wouldn't be that much of a surprise to him considering demons do it for that exact reason sometimes.]

When not a lot happens, you can't really get a full picture after all.

[Azure knew from experience that they would only be able to see what wanted to be presented. A small beep came from her wrist, taking at the face on the underside of her wrist, her brows knitted in slight concern.]

It appears I'm needed elsewhere, it was a pleasure speaking with you. My name is Azure, may I have yours?

[He frowned slightly. This had been a rather interesting conversation, but he understood it needed to end and he did really need to explore a bit more.]

Baldur. [Though he did wonder if he should have used another fake name instead of his actual name. But he moved from the spot. She was needed elsewhere and he wanted to look around so with a flick of his wrist he waved.]

If I see you, I see you. [And with that he walks away.]

Have you ever considered being a wild bohemian out to explore the universe? The pay isn't great but the experiences are worth it.

No, I'd rather be a king and rule on high, but that is kinda not a thing I can do right now.

It's not really all it's cracked up to be. Believe me. [he's been there, done that. True it was more Lord High President than King but words meant nothing when you had the illusion of power and everyone was so busy trying to kill you or get along with you it all canceled each other out.

That not on the table, what do you like to do? What gets you up in the morning?

Being in control and considered the most powerful can be a good thing.

[Considering how he gets to the throne in the first place, people trying to kill him is just another day. Demons have some strange ways to determine who the next king is.]

Depends on what one has to do. I'm a prankster when not having to do certain things. Fighting, trying to improve what skills I have is always something I strive to do. Power is always key after all.

Well you only have as much power as people give it to you. There's a grand illusion that he a King can do whatever they want, but he can talk until he is purple but if no one is willing to follow orders he is just a man who talks too much with a God complex. Even those who gained their seat due to war or assassination are only as powerful as the army or government that support them.

[he shrugs]

In that case why not try the bounty boards. They're a good way to augment income and there always seem to be fresh bounties every week. You could meet some interesting people that way.

Not really. That type of way is for people like Angels or whatever govenment for other species exists. Demons don't give you the power, you take it until noone can take it from you.

Then you rule with an iron fist because you are then recognised as someone who can't be beaten until the next generation of princes and princesses come around and battle it out. Demons support whoever wins the bloodbath at the end of the day no questions asked.

[A pause.] I will keep an eye on bounty boards then.

Right but the key word is still support. [he's not invested in winning the argument really. It's not a terribly interesting one.]

Support by fear, though not necessarily because they like you.

[He paused, it was strange for people to actually say good luck that wasn't an angel. It was strange and he didn't like it. But he'd take it.]

Support by fear is still support. And fear doesn't last forever.

[The way they do demons lords is battle to the death in the family. Fun times. He can't wait to take out his 12 brothers and sisters.]

My father has been kind for around 100 years or so... Might be more.

And in that time the cosmic eye barely even flutters. [and whether or not a hundred years is impressive depends on the species. But even so. The universe was there before it and barring a massively unfortunate accident, would be there after]

I guess. Not that I understand what exactly that means, though.

Well to put it simply, a creature that lives an hour would think a minute is as long as a year. But what is a hundred years to a sun? A solar system? The sprawling history of the universe?

Just another day. After a certain amount of time, it feels like nothing. if things don't change at least.

I prefer idiots as well. Mostly because it's a word that is useful and applies to a lot of things, or people.

[When Terra replies she's sitting in the green house behind the flower shop in Attleton. Her hair is pulled over one shoulder and curling in every direction while the sun refracts through the window panels behind her.]

Hello. [She doesn't know his name so she continues.] I had also not worked before coming here. There are a lot of places that are comfortable with teaching you if you're interested in more than bar tending.

[She pauses.]

I work at a flower shop.

[Flower shop. That sounded very much like a place angels would work at if they had to work anywhere. He was good at keeping quiet for the moment, putting on his usual mask to hide how he feels. After all, she was being helpful. Sometimes being a dick to someone like that was not the best way to go about it. Lying and gaining information like that is a whole different thing.]

I'm always happy to learn something new if it helps me move up the chain

[Terra doesn't know anything about demons or angels but she loves flowers.]

What do you like doing? I think it's better to start there. [People learn faster if it's something that they're interested in or passionate about.]

From what I can gather from this world, what I like doing would not work.

[It was stuff people very much frowned on. But if he could do that stuff in privates, that was a different matter.]

[She pauses, her fingers brushing against her lips thoughtfully.]

What about something you've always wanted to try? I do know some places hiring bartenders if that's what you prefer.

There was nothing I really wanted to try. When one has a set goal in life, you don't think of those things.

[He paused for a moment.]

Bartender... I guess people do talk to people like them. So I will keep that in mind.

[She agrees with an easy nod.]

[You are giving off angel vibes to him majorly, but he has yet to actually meet one. But he was going to continue to play nice for now, so long as no one he knows is here to call him out.]

That's a strange thing to do.

[She's been new at least twice now.]

I think it's natural to want to help people.

Most people only look out for themselves. They take help but never returned it.

[He kind of falls into that category.]

So it's not actually natural.

[A smile touches Terra's lips.]

Maybe it depends on who you know.

[She's lucky enough to have been graced with amazing friends who had helped her when she knew nothing about herself. Not just here but in her world as well.]

All probably have underlining motives to their actions.

[And he sounds pretty sure on that one.]

They just aren't at all open about it. So I still think everyone falls under the same brush.

Maybe but those motives don't have to be bad either.

[She isn't really disagreeing with him.]

Sometimes we lie to protect ourselves or because we're scared. I think that's okay, as long as you have people that you can trust and confide in.

They would still be however selfish. All motives fall under that no matter how one might try and spin it because that's nature.

Never had to lie for those reasons. To one-up someone else yes and again nature to lie.

I know.

[There were limits and very hazy lines to what made things good or bad but Terra wanted to believe. She's seen so much darkness in her world, she wants to know that there is good out there too.]

But... I want to believe in the people here.

I don't. I want to see the worst in them because it's more entertaining and doesn't make me feel sick.

[The thought of angels and their nature alone was enough to make him feel nauseous to his stomach. He was never sure what it was about there goody goody nature but it bothered him.

Though to be honest he knew it bothered most demons in general.]

[Terra's brow furrows.]

It makes you feel sick?

It's a figure of speech. Unless it's that rare chance.

[It can happen.]
