[Mother's Day. Something Qubine hasn't heard of, but he can definitely appreciate.]
So...humans have a holiday to celebrate mothers as well? A noble cause, I have to admit.
We have no such holiday in Sornieth, but I have my reasons to appreciate the mothers...the female dragons. When I was first raising my clan, I only had two ways to take in dragons - either by finding abandoned eggs throughout Sornieth, or by breeding. However, I had a rather difficult time finding female dragons to breed. The eggs I had found were mostly hatching male dragons, and even the ones who did manage to breed were also hatching male dragons...or stillborns. However, as my clan grew, breeding became less necessary.
It was because of the difficulty we had in the beginning that the female dragons were especially valuable to us. For a while, I even had to forbid the female dragons from beginning their Passage until they've had a chance to breed. I later lifted that rule as our clan grew.
So you can imagine that I appreciate all the mothers in my clan. Azalea, Orphne... [He chuckles a bit.] Usha...and of course, Shayla. Though I fared poorly as a father, at least I can be glad that Shayla was the best mother she could be to our sons before they died...
[Qubine lets out a sigh.]
As for my own mother...her name was Duana. I only met her recently for the first time since I matured and left my original home. And she...was much like Shayla. Perhaps that was one of many things that drew me to Shayla.
[He falls silent for a moment before ending the feed.]

Glad you found a good mother for them. A good mother makes all of the difference.

[So far, the only other person in Genessia he knew was a father was Jacques Schnee. Though he's not sure why he's interested in consulting other fathers. It's not like he plans to be a father again.]

I've been away a while, but I know their mother is looking after them. Even if they're a real handful.

Ah...true. I have a dragon like that. A dragon that I raised as a son, though his egg was conceived by the Gladekeeper herself. He was the first dragon I raised in my new clan. And he is still alive, one of the first dragons to complete the Passage.
[But that may only be because Coco was the first to begin the Passage, and the sole survivor of his original team.]

I hope I can return home soon. I'm missing so much with my girls. They were just five and six when I left... But I'm sure they're in school by now. I wonder what their hobbies are..?
[His voice trails off, ending with a lonely sigh.]
It's hard being here when you have children who need you.

"School..."
[Well, not that Qubine hasn't heard of it, but it's still so foreign. Even more so is the idea of these girls being five and six years old...older than Qubine himself and still considered children, or hatchlings in dragonkind's term.]
I feel the same way. Although Coco can take care of himself, I'm more worried about Shayla. She's untrained in combat, and alone in the world without me to protect her. I fear what may be happening to her...
[Especially since the Beastclans have come after her in the past...]

Mm... I hope things are okay. Even when I know Hana is strong and safe, I worry about her now that we're apart. I promised I would be the one who never left her or died, and then I went and did both.

Yes... [He responds to confirm that Shayla is his mate. He then listens with a frown. How dare this person leave someone he cares about...]
...Why did you leave her? Or did you leave her by dying?

In my world, everything is bound by its Fate. Resisting is like trying to fit the wrong piece in a puzzle: You have to either modify the other pieces, break the puzzle, or accept your place.
I should have died. Instead, I nearly broke the puzzle and almost brought my family down with me.

From what I've seen I think people just show their appreciation for their moms.

...As well they should. Mothers are essential to the continued survival of any species.

I'm not sure everyone feels that way. Maybe,
though.

But um. What is... Passage?
video
The Passage is what we call our training journey. Dragons form teams of three and head out into the world to battle monsters to develop their skills.
