[River is sitting in the Pond's flat, and she looks a little bit distant, and there's some scratches on her face from her recent adventure. She's trying to keep calm about the whole thing, but she knows what and where her parents had returned to, and she doesn't want to think about that. All along, she knew that this was borrowed time, but she didn't think that it was going to be this short. Between her fingers, she's twisting the sonic sunglasses that Twelve made for Amy, and she sighs before she speaks, her voice soft.]


For those who know Amelia Pond Williams, she's gone home. [A beat.] At least she's with Rory now.

[Because honestly, that was the most important thing, wasn't it? Her parents back together, back in the past and living the life that they were given to live at the touch of an angel.]

I'm fine.

[Which is Time Lord for not very fine at all, honestly. But River hides the hurt.]

I appreciate the offer, I really do, but I think I just want to stay here a little while longer.

[While she feels like she can still feel Amy.]

They deserve to be together.

[Belle remembers the loss that Amy felt when Rory had vanished.]

I just wish they were still here.

[The question makes River frown for a moment.]

[He doesn't think River looks fine but he knows asking won't help her.]

She could come back, I've seen people leave and return. Sometimes they even remember this place.

I wish she would, but it's too right that she's back with Rory.

[A beat.]

I see. After what I've heard about him, maybe it's where she has to be.

[The droid tits his head at that.]

No. Have we met before?

[polyandrist]

Yes. But I looked different then.

[It takes him a second to process and figure out who is she talking about and then his optics get brighter.]


The little girl? You were really helpful back then, thanks. Is nice to meet the adult you.

[Which he's a bit sad about but it's hard to tell- considering]

[Expect he didn't pick up that was her - oppps. Ten gives River a slight head nod with a serious and sympathetic expression. Even if he is inwardly pleasantly surprised but he's not going to jump on the invite - this face doesn't feel it's his place to do so.]

[he's over a few hours later, not that he's really good at comforting for this sort of thing but he's at least going to make an effort. He brings a bottle of wine which is what he always does and he knows it and a a couple of movies. He even actually uses the front door to give her time to compose herself or at least greet him as he likes.]

[polyandrist]

[River is glad for the few hours, because it means that she's had a better time covering up the damage than she had when she had made the post. For the most part, she'd done it out of some errant hope that her mother was still here, and just missing or whatnot rather than that she was gone. But River knew she was, back to her father, back to New York and back to a place where it was much harder to get too.

Never impossible though, River was River after all.

This Doctor has already lived through that, so she's hoping that she doesn't need to worry too much. Of course there's always some worry, River wouldn't be River if she didn't worry about the Doctor. Smiling sadly at him, and taking the bottle of wine him she just lifts it up.]

Are we sure this is enough?

Probably not... That's why I bought movies...

Let's see, [he sorts through them] we have The Sound of Music, The Rainbow, Ocean's Seventy-Five Thousand: Colony Heist and Ten Things I Hate About You.

I don't think I've seen that Ocean's movie. Honestly, a good heist movie sounds perfect about now.

[And it's one of the ones she'd never watched with Amy and Rory.]

[That's really just about the last piece of news he wanted to get... ...ever, honestly, but at least he's danced this dance before and knew his time would be limited. And on the bright side, at least he managed to keep Amy from being burdened with worrying about him, while she was around. Even if the whole No Rory thing was far less than ideal...]

River...

[No need to repeat the conversation they had the last time, either, since they both remember it--and he feels badly enough about how badly he did at being present for her, the last time.

That she feels the need to mention, unprompted, that she's "fine," though, is what stands out the most to him. If River Song has any tells at all...]

...what can I do?

[Not about Amy, obviously, or he would have months ago, but for her.]
