Hello,
Has anyone discovered a way to pair a device to the communicator given to us upon arrival? I have yet to find the option, but I am also admittedly not the most experienced with technology. I would like to copy some photographs and videos from an older communicator for easier viewing.
Thank you.

[ It had been a while since Era last drew upon the power of Fray's soul crystal. Not since shortly after she caught up on her training and learned The Blackest Night - simultaneously only a handful of moons and a year ago thanks to all the dimensional nonsense she's suffered through. Era trusts her Darkside immensely. She keeps a tight rein on it, never letting it consume her. She trained alongside Sidurgu, mastering her skills, fighting against injustices with a blade and fueled by righteous fury.
Without a clear duty driving her actions, however, Era has been more hesitant to call upon her Darkside. Her unwavering motivation has always been her greatest strength, tempering what would otherwise consume her.
Now though... She's angry. Frustrated. Heartsick, homesick, lonely, sad. The siren song of her Darkside is growing too strong for her to simply ignore, and so Era finds herself once again in the Favnir Ruins, though this time she is wielding not magic nor bow. It is long past time for her to vent her frustration and heartache on the soulless constructs found here, and perhaps it will sate her Darkside's appetite for a time.
Era is cloaked in shadowy flames that swirl around her, greedily eating away at her aether, its stygian fires coursing through her blade and fueling her eldritch arts.
He isn't going to come, whispers the abyss. But you don't need him. You have me. I will always be here for you.
She fells creature after creature with powerful swings of her greatsword. It's as big as she is, and while slower to wield than her daggers or lance it is somehow more satisfying. One good hard slash and another direwolf loses its head. There's more smoke and Era moves on until she finds a golem. It will be more of a challenge than the others.
Even with Grit the golem's blows rattle her bones, though Era doesn't allow it to phase her. This is nothing to her, the Warrior of Light. Hydaelyn's weapon against the Dark. It brings a wicked curve to her lips at the irony of it in her current state. While the darkness she wields as a Dark Knight is no threat, nor is it evil, it still is not something one would expect to see of Eorzea's beacon of hope.
She takes another hit and stumbles, exhaustion beginning to sink in as her Darkside eats away at her aether reserves. Era knows she's at risk of a backlash of entropic energies at this point and so ends the golem with a final blow. As it vanishes into smoke she sends her Darkside back to the abyss. It whispers a reminder in farewell.
...Think of me, and I will be with you. Always. For where else could I go? For who else could I love but you?
Era falls to her knees, utterly spent. Her Darkside's parting words weigh heavy on her heart though she does not cry - why would she? It will always be there for her. Always. Whenever she is in need. Whenever she calls upon it. But... the reminder that there is something in Genessia that loves her so completely - that she is never truly alone - is enough to bring tears to her eyes, even if she does not allow them to fall.
There are no hostile creatures left around her for she has slain them all in her thirst for violence. Her body shakes. She's so tired. When was the last time she had a proper rest? Era can't even remember... Nowhere has felt safe enough to sleep, even with Emeraldd there to keep guard. The Carbuncle in question dashes over to her now that she's finished, forcing its way onto her lap and into her arms.
She misses Aymeric almost more than she can bear. Is love truly worth this agony? ]

Are you sure you'd even want to?
What I mean is... you might risk making it a big cyborg-y and not just in a -- [Waves her arm.] artificial limb sense. I'm not sure how the creature... maintained its... [Head tilt.] Magic abilities? But hooking it up to a network such as this.... [Closes eyes.] Can be very overwhelming.
They might not even be able to filter out other people's chatter or guard your own private stuff. In the super future, there was a -- [FACE SCRUNCH.] social media kind of like this network, but where you'd relive other people's memories. [Shiver.] I mean it was all the rage, and totally normalized, and everyone loved being err... [FACEEEEEE] that... intimate, but...
Point is, wirelessly pairing is easy peasy. [Snaps fingers.] But social media is really overwhelming when it's not something you grew up with organically, yeah?

[Scritches her eyebrows in thought.] Annnnd... my home is a sentient spaceship I hooked up to my own -- err... [Holds up a pink cell phone.] File keeper.
So I should be able to transfer things, um. Is Emmy hooked up to your own brain or...?

Emeraldd is my summon, forged of my aether - life energy; magic. There is a magical link between us but no technological connection.

And she travels, since she's a ship and all. I work at Torchwood in the Everglade, however, but we travel all the cities since we're a fidgety restless bunch.
Do you know of the magical connection is psychic in nature? Err, telepathic?

I tend to linger in Fayren and Genessia City the most. I am happy to meet you and the ship anywhere save for Nova City.
It is not unless I wish it to be.
video for Rose / text for Era
[So the exasperation turned cold is obvious from her.] He's an -- [And then she softens. She'd have called him an idiot point blank for the last 9 months, but it wasn't helping anything, and he wasn't, not really. Just in some things.] Public menace. [A soft grin.] That's how my company, Torchwood got founded, yeah? He upset the Queen of my country so badly she exiled us both and founded a company to protect the country against him and other threats. As to how it wound up back in my hands... that's a really long story, yeah?
Nah, don't worry, I can go to Fayren or Genessia. Wherever you're comfortable. I joined the Fairy Tail guild. [Turns her right hand to show off her guild mark, she's VERY VERY PROUD OF IT :333] So if you want, we can hang out at the Fairy Haven while I tinker, yeah?
I've got some more experience with psychic links than magic, since the ship is psychic, telepathic, and so is the Doctor and my best mate, but that's okay, besides, if we meet at the guild, I can always ask Mirajane and the others for help, yeah?

[ it really sucks. especially when the options are self-imposed exile or returning and getting sentenced for a regicide you did not commit. it still gives her nightmares sometimes. ]
If possible I have a preference for involving as few people as necessary.
[ being alone (with her Carbuncle) and outnumbered by strangers on their territory is a bit of a nerve wracking. ]

When should I expect your arrival?

[Checks her wristwatch.] Gimme 20 minutes. [PUTS ON GOGGLES. She's on a mission!!!]

[ a moment later she thinks to add: ] I should mention that I am not a human, nor do I look like one.

I will be waiting for you in plain view.
[ and wait she does! deceptively small in a pair of worn jeans and a blue hoodie with the Temple Knights' sigil embroidered in it. very modern wear for a young woman who comes across as more old fashioned in most every other way.
there's also a faintly glowing blue... rabbit fox dog... thing... by her side, an aura of aetherial sparks drifting slowly around it like tiny prisms. Era is a big fan of Carbuncles. they're sparkly and glowy and adorable. ]

I'm Rose, by the way. Nice to meet ya! [Still trying to shake hands or introduce herself to the carbuncle.]
[Yes.]

While she won't voice it aloud Era does appreciate the other woman being entirely disinterested in her horns, scales, and tail. It took a long time in Xistentia before a majority stopped staring at them. And, given the nature of that particular world, also stopped finding her features to be exotic.
Genessia has so far been surprisingly nonchalant about them overall. Even though a majority of the population were Hyur - humans - they didn't linger on her Auri traits. It's been a relief, honestly. Era doesn't like to stand out. ]
Hello, Rose. I'm Era Ra de Borel. [ The Carbuncle is silent and the only movement it makes is a sideways tilt of its head to go with its swaying tail. Emeraldd still has the bit of sass and personality it always had, but nowhere near as much as it had in Xistentia. It is a gemstone given form from her aether; soulless. ]
Emeraldd is an aetherial construct, not a dog. Do not be offended by its disinterest.

It is, after all, an extension of herself in an odd way; crafted of a portion of her aether via carefully made mathematical shapes. Though the digitization means there is less of a connection than there used to be, they've strengthened their bond again in other ways.
Era rests a glowing hand upon its head with a fond smile, allowing it to absorb some of her aether reserves. While Carbuncles don't need to eat, they do need to be sustained in other ways.
With her other hand she shakes Rose's. Her grip is firm but not painfully so. It's clear handshakes are not a greeting Era uses often. ]
Yes. It was digitized and linked to the heart of our last world's communication network. And no, this is Emmy. I've only the one Carbuncle, though I can alter its form by feeding it different variants of aether through an alternate summoning geometry.
[ She's not a huge fan of talking but she sure does love rambling about arcanima. Mathemathic magic. Geometry magic. The nerdiest of all magic. ]

[Nods.]
Aether geometry. Totally.
[WOOOOOOOOOSH.]

How does that work?

It is similar to a computer wireboard, or something of that ilk, I believe. [ 'wireboad' being 'motherboard' because she actually does not know a lot about technology. oops. ] With the gemstone being the base form, the geometry the wiring, and the aether the electricity to trigger the reaction and maintain it.
