Good afternoon, everyone. I apologize if this seems out of the blue,  but it's been on my mind for a while now... Seeing as we all come from different worlds, I'm realizing that our definitions of things like "magic" and "science" are very different. It's gotten me quite curious. The limitations I have may not apply to your magic, or vice versa. We might all be accidentally limiting our reach by assuming we're the same.

... So. If I could have a few moments of your time? I would love to learn about how everyone's magic works. Is magic in your world based in some sort of "mana" that flows in the air? Or does it come from your soul? Genetics? Can it be learned, or even taught, in Genessia? Do you need tools? Do we need to make tools for you?

And what about science? If your technology closer to Attleton, or Nova City? Can you travel space yet? Do you have holograms? I wonder what kinds of inventions we could make if we put our minds together?

I hope I'm not being too nosy. It's just fascinating to think about!

Science where I'm from is way different from Nova City. It's...grimier. Not sure how to describe it. It's definitely way ahead of Attleton, though. But it's less air ships and more, like, medical science and body transformation stuff.

Magic on Earth, as I understood from reading a few of their works, involved trying to produce an effect in a roundabout or soul-spurning way. It involved secret communications , gestures, and injunctions towards demoniacal forces.

It rarely ended well for its practitioners. The more sensible among them moved towards religion, which satisfied the numinous desires its members held much better.

Science simply meant knowledge obtained through demonstration and a certain method.

By your definition of science, isn't both your world's magic and Religion a science? It sounds like knowledge would be gained through those, correct?

I'm sure the standard "scientific method" can apply in both fields.

Magic in my world is powered by Mana, which is also believed to be the element that makes the world possible. Like a glass of water where the glass is Mana. However, being able to learn and control magic somehow came down to genetics, using the elves, my father and myself as evidence...

As for science... I don't really understand it myself. Science, the way I understood it, is the pursuit of knowledge, and building tools to do so. Such as telescopes to observe the sky. Magic and machines have also been combined, but those are breaking the proverbial glass holding the land together.

That's quite fascinating. In many worlds I visit, magic is what breaks the glass that holds this world together. Do princesses not study science in your world, or is it that you only received so much of a scientific education?

I actually know very little about science... I still struggle with most of Nova's machines.

I only know the absolute basics of science in my world...

Hmmm... I suppose that makes sense. You would be mostly involved in the politics of your world, and it sounds as if magic is more important than science.

I was made to focus on politics and regal etiquette. Only the Empire is destroying their land with Manatechnology.

Use of magic is very rare. Even the elves don't use it often. Besides me and my father, the closest form of magic used by humans is healing.

Oh really? So healing is different from magic? Or are you referring to medicine?

Well... Healing magic, umm...

Where destruction magic is powered by mana, healing magic is powered by your own spirit energy. Girls are especially powerful healers, while boys are capable of empowering conventional medicine.

My own magic is a product of my soul. I've never really had to deal with constraints like mana, so I find this all fascinating. Is there mana in Genessia?

Yes, I have... Peculiar. Then I wonder next, if 'mana' is an omniversal concept. Is all magical energy the same? I doubt that's the case, so is Genessia recreating many forms of mana...? Or a replica that everyone can use...?

I can't speak much about true 'magic' where I come from, as I've only had the barest of experience with it. I can talk to you about science and technology though, and about certain kinds of energy manipulation that often gets mistaken for magic in my world.

The very basic tech in Nova City isn't unlike what I grew up around, although a lot of it is more advanced. I did have an advantage in that my mother was a pioneer inventor, as was her father, and they had a company that dealt with high-tech advances regularly.

What do you specifically want to know?

Haha, not exactly. One of the key factors of good science is being reproducible; as magic and religion both have to do with persons, they aren't so mechanistic. There is, however, much to learn about theology, though religion encompasses that and more besides.

I mean, it's been over a while, but a lot of the stuff we've made ever since kind of traces back to that. The company that cured the world are kind of in charge now, and a lot of stuff flows through them.

Magic or powers are something we gain from birth, are given just before we battle for ruler or through eating the flesh of our fallen enemy or drinking their blood.

Though the latter is only a family thing.

That's interesting. I've heard of that theory in other situations. The eating others for their power. Would that mean that the blood or flesh is infused with magical properties, or is it a matter of consuming a soul?

In my honest opinion, "magic" is a weird term. It's often used to describe powers that aren't understood, right? Once you understand something and how to control it, doesn't it become a "science?"

[He drops the subject to focus:] Interesting. It would be amazing if we were able to somehow take advantage of the technology here and invent ways to gain more control over our environment. There was an egg fiasco a few months ago that would have been great to have power over.

Do you have experience in inventing, then? Or did you not take interest in the family business?

By that answer, am I correct to understand that magic and religion are not constantly reproducible powers in your world?

For context: The 'Gods' back home were an active and blatant presence for me, and my 'magic' can be reproduced flawlessly. I've encountered a number of magicks that are based in formulas and math.
