What are you trying to make specifically, I'll try to help more. I like to play with non-human and different time period gadgets, so I've gotten a good feel for how not to blow things up ;) (Or at least to blow them up semi-safely, haha don't worry it's a joke.)
One of the people closest to me here was a model both in her world and then carried it over here. Depending on the time period and/or region you are from, you might be able to carry that over here. If you can design practical clothes, there are many non-humans who would love not to have to modify their look, a couple costume shops open year round -- though they do the most business around Halloween of course, and if your best feature is aesthetics, Nova welcomes pretty much the most eccentric you can get.
You could also work or apprentice in a tailor shop in Attleton or Genessia and attend the University if you are worried you aren't ready to go all the way into figuring out how to make robots, cyborgs, werewolves, or vampires feel sexy and normal at the same time. Attleton is also a lot more "normal" as far as the fashion goes -- depending on the year/region you're from. But suits or casual activewear or summer dresses and skirts are the trend there. Not so much the gothic overtones and dramatic capes of Everglade, or sci-fi swirly light-up collars and psuedo-metal fake scales of Nova. Also, Fayren has actual magic, so fashion is really crazy there! From togas, to practical dress armor, to I think the dragons are naked, but I know that Namur is 8 feet tall and has shark fins so getting suits has to be tricky, yeah?
But I think you'll be able to have a lot of fun either way! :)
There's also a few arcades around, I think there were a couple of professional gamers, but usually unless you know how to code and design games, it's not quite as easy to get into as being a model or helping department stores figure out what to buy, yeah?
[ADDED LATE:] Actually I don't even know if we have department stores here. Attleton must, right? I think they have a mall, but I don't remember ever going. Well, if there isn't one, you might be able to work at one of the boutiques. But don't expect to start at the top. Your name might still carry a lot of weight if your family is fashion royalty, but boutiques' owners can be really feisty! Don't even ask about all the fights my Mum would get into with them. So embarrassing.
