Hey, Genessia.

[ The video opens up to Konoka chilling outside somewhere in Fayren city. Her Umbreon Yuunagi is pacing by her side. She'd been pretty much on autopilot lately. Mavis's uncontested victory meant that she didn't really have to bother too much with the elections, and thus stuck to her usual routine of minding her store and calling out healing wherever she wanted. ]

You know what? Today's Father's Day.

It's not often we think about our dads as much... at least in my case. But sometimes I wonder if I don't give him enough credit. After all, he was part of the big group who first saved my world more than 25 odd years ago... before I was even a twinkle in his eye. But I know not all dads are great.

Despite achieving all that, my dad is still an idiot with a smoking habit. And I'm starting to miss him.

[ She gives a slightly pained smile for a moment, but then shrugs it off. Yeah she misses him. She misses a lot of her friends and family... Setsuna most of all. But she's at least confident that when it's all said and done, they'll still be waiting for her whenever Genessia feels like letting her go, however long that is. ]

Any of you think about your dads lately? Hero? Worthless jerk faces? Something in-between?

[Ooh, you hit a nerve there. Lucky is curled up on his couch with his Fennekin Aravis trying to lick his nose in an attempt to cheer him up.]]

Yeah.

You alright? I understand that this is... a heavy subject for some people.

[Aravis gives up trying to cheer him up and just curls up in her usual warm spot against his stomach as he tries to explain it.]

When I was five, my homeworld got attacked, and I got separated from my parents, and I thought they were dead. So I grew up on another planet one star system over from where I was born.

[It's really hard for him to keep going but he's going to anyway...]

Last...last fall, just before I came here, I...I found out Dad was still alive, but...

[ She could read the implications before he even finished. She didn't say a word until he trailed off though. ]

Oh my goodness. My condolences...

[ He might be wanting to talk about it, so she doesn't press either way. ]

[And cue a little robot lion and a Tynamo sliding in to try to comfort him too.]

Well before that, I discovered that he was supposedly working for the people my friends and I were fighting at the time, but that was just an imposter, so I thought he actually was dead for a few more weeks until we got to the world they were headquartered on back on Christmas Eve.

[He has to get this out now or he probably won't be able to finish, so sorry for the info dump Konoka.]

Turns out he'd been brainwashed by their leader to kill me and my friends, but I managed to break it, and...

[Deep breaths Lucky, deep breaths.]

The planet was going to be used for a universe-destroying bomb but we built a remote control black hole generator to absorb it...it almost got destroyed but we couldn't fix it in time...Dad...

[And here's where it looks like he's close to tears.]

...Dad stayed behind and activated it himself...

Oh, that's...

[ Konoka looks close to tears despite it being a stranger. This was certainly not the direction she expected to go when this began. She tried to come up with a word that would work, but words failed her. So instead, she changed tacks. ]

Your father really is a hero. And left you in the worst way...!

[ Yep, she's crying out of empathy now. ]

[Lucky manages a small, almost wistful smile as he wipes a stray tear off his face.]

It was what he wanted to do, to help us and all, so...

[ If only she could give him a hug right now.

She'd have to settle for giving her screen an awkward hug. ]

It's good that he did. And no matter the pain, you can always have my support.

[Lucky couldn't help but chuckle at the screen hug.]

Thanks. Listen I need to get out of the house anyway, so why don't you meet me at the beach in Nova City to give me a hug for real?

Oh, of course! I don't visit Nova City very often, so this gives me a good excuse to go!

[ She gave a good-natured laugh. ]

Okay, I'll see you there then.

[Lucky signs off and after however long it takes Konoka to get there, she'll find him laying on the sand about twenty feet away from the water with Caesar and the Pokemon curled up on his stomach still trying to cheer him up apparently.]

[ Konoka initially thought that he might not be serious about it. For the record, it took her about 15 minutes before she decided to at least head over. If he didn't show, then she at least managed to enjoy the beach!

But when she got there, she easily recognized the man on the ground, currently dogpiled by a Pokemon and a machine. Yes, this morose man needed a hug. ]

Hello there. You look like you need a hug! ...or more hugs I'm thinking.

[ Despite the somber meeting, Konoka can't help but smile at the sight. ]

[Looking up with a blink, Lucky managed a smile and a nod as he set his pets on the sand. Caesar squeaked and dove right back into his lap, he didn't like the sand apparently.]

Yep.

[He patted a spot next to him on the sand for Konoka to sit.]

[ Konoka peered at that spot for a moment, shrugged, and sat down. Any excuse to be there for a while couldn't hurt, and he looked like he could use both this AND the hug. ]
