16th Healing | Thinking about Fathers [Video]
Hey, Genessia.
[ The video opens up to Konoka chilling outside somewhere in Fayren city. Her Umbreon Yuunagi is pacing by her side. She'd been pretty much on autopilot lately. Mavis's uncontested victory meant that she didn't really have to bother too much with the elections, and thus stuck to her usual routine of minding her store and calling out healing wherever she wanted. ]
You know what? Today's Father's Day.
It's not often we think about our dads as much... at least in my case. But sometimes I wonder if I don't give him enough credit. After all, he was part of the big group who first saved my world more than 25 odd years ago... before I was even a twinkle in his eye. But I know not all dads are great.
Despite achieving all that, my dad is still an idiot with a smoking habit. And I'm starting to miss him.
[ She gives a slightly pained smile for a moment, but then shrugs it off. Yeah she misses him. She misses a lot of her friends and family... Setsuna most of all. But she's at least confident that when it's all said and done, they'll still be waiting for her whenever Genessia feels like letting her go, however long that is. ]
Any of you think about your dads lately? Hero? Worthless jerk faces? Something in-between?

He is intimately familiar with magic, so I doubt he would have too much difficulty. I shall keep it in mind though.

I'm about to head back to my store right now.

[ And with that, she's heading back to her store in Fayren. ]

[ she leaves out the fact that she is very obviously not human. given that non-humans aren't uncommon in fayren she doesn't see the harm in leaving that detail out. ]
((i'm up for actioning their meeting if you are!))
[text] -> [Action]
[ It doesn't take long for Konoka to get back to her store.
Konoka is not exactly tall herself, especially since she didn't bother with heels today. So she looks for someone around her size hanging around the front of her store, and sure enough...
...oh, is this a dragon-person? ]
Wow, how cute!
[ Realizing that might have slipped out of her mouth a little too soon and just within earshot, she speaks more bold and politely than normal when she greets her proper. ]
Ah, welcome to Mahora Fortune and Onmyodo! I'm the store owner, Konoka Konoe! Pleased to meet you.

But she brushes it aside. It's possible she misheard, or the girl was referring to something else. In any case it's irrelevant to the situation.
Era bows more deeply than she does during informal meetings. This is a business meeting and so she treats it with the respect she believes it due. ]
I am Era Ra de Borel. Well met, Miss Konoe.
[ Her voice is soft, and lilts with an accent that one might find within the British Isles. She speaks at a medium pace, always making sure of her words before she says them aloud.
When she straightens again it becomes clear to Era that Konoka is only a scant few inches taller than herself. It piques her interest because this young woman owns a business, and thus has clearly been in Genessia for a time. That means she might know where Era might find clothes more suited to her petite frame. ]

[ Okay, she hadn't said anything dumb, so Konoka felt she could relax a little bit. Though somewhat interested in a dragon person because Era was the first one she could actually talk to (the ones from her world were hostile until recently, and all the other dragons she met were Actual Dragons(tm)), business came before pleasure.
She led Era into the store. The Japanese influence in her store was very strong, right down to its wooden walls and shelves displaying her wares. ]
So you're looking for blank ofuda, right?

[ She offers a smile and follows Konoka into the store. The similarities to the Hingan aesthetic is almost jarring - had she not already known of Japan Era would have thought she set foot in Kugane or Shirogane. Her curiosity is piqued as she glances around at the merchandise, though she reminds herself she is here for a specific purchase and not to browse. Regardless, her tail perks up with her mood, lower half swaying back and forth not unlike a curious cat's might.
Era nods at the question. ]
As many as you can spare.

[ Not hugely expensive, given that Era's getting directly from the supplies rather than getting anything custom done, but people tend to underestimate how expensive paper that's strong enough to hold magic is! Regardless of her answer, Konoka walked off and came back holding a medium-sized box. ]

[ she should be able to - she works a lot and rarely spends her earnings. ]
I have some ink designed to conduct aether - magic - with greater ease and efficacy. I could part with a well of it for you to try, and if you find it useful perhaps we could trade in the future?
no subject
Sure, if you wouldn't mind me experimenting with it!

[ she rummages around in the pocket of her jeans as she asks her question, her hand reaching further than what should be possible. eventually she pulls out a small well of enchanted gold ink - ink with gold sand dissolved into it to increase aetherial conductivity. it's some of the less powerful of her inks, and one of the easier ones to make.
she may not be a great alchemist but she certainly made sure she could craft her own ink for arcanima.
after making sure everything is in order with the ink (properly sealed and labeled) she holds it out for Konoka to take. ]

[ To demonstrate, Konoka pulled a small example charm, making a harmless water fountain. She placed it on the table, where it stuck. ]
Charm-han, charm-han, show me a little splash.
[ A basic spell, but nonetheless the ofuda shined and a little fountain of water spurt from the charm. ]
It works for anyone when you place it on something solid, but if you want to freeze it in midair, you need your own magic.
no subject
Would the name of the spell be enough to trigger it? And would one's body count as a solid surface?
And I would be interested in seeing you make one of your charms, if it would not be too much trouble.
[ a beat. ]
Also I can assure you I have no intent to profit off making charms. These would simply be protection for my friends.
no subject
[ To be honest, Konoka was... actually surprised no one tried to profit off of her business, on account the much of what she needed to do watch teach non-practitioners how to actually use it. She put it on the nature of both Genessia and the fact that she had yet to come across any other charm user. ]
Give me a moment please.
[ She did much like she did earlier, only taking a blank slip, the gold ink from earlier, and then used a quill pen to write the equivalent of "water" (mizu) in hiragana, very neatly. ]
Pretty simple!
[ She placed it down, and yet again talked to release the simple fountain. No need to fire a stronger spell and mess up the place. ]
no subject
How do I put my magic in it?
no subject
[ She never really thought about it, because she's been doing it for so long that she's done things on autopilot. ]
I simply let my mana flow into the ofuda while I'm writing.

[ Goodness, it's gonna be great having a super regular customer that isn't Ted. For one, she's actually fascinated by magic! ]
