[Action / Video] Father's Day
(Action A)
[So, Father's Day. A day honoring fathers.
And yet Anastasia doesn't have a father here to honor. It did get her thinking an awful lot about her father. King Akili Leonheart the Siegebreaker. As it is Sunday, a she is off from school, Anastasia goes to the Holodeck'd, dressed in her usual Princess attire from her homeworld, the same regal dress she first arrived in Genessia in.
It took some time with help from programmers, but Anastasia paid for at least an hour and created a similation of her father, if a bit exaggerated. A tall, broad-shouldered man with a well-groomed beard. A cloak of blue and white and decorated in ornate battle-ready armor. A stern face, but gentle gaze, standing by with a large greatsword held like a cane.
The suite Anastasia is in is not locked, so people can still come in and catch her talking to this image of her Kingly father. Even if he doesn't seem to be reacting at all to what she's saying, or even her presence.]

[After her hour was up, Anastasia went back home to change into something more casual, then left Nova to go to Genessia to browse a gift shop. The young lady can definitely and easily be found browsing the Father's Day gift section. A curious thing to do, who is she shopping for if she has no father in Genessia?]

If you could buy a gift for someone who is a father figure in your life here, what would you get for him?

I can only say I know of him. I've never seen him in person.

But Peter Tyler, my father, is an inventor and a salesman. And a really really good man in the most important ways. Like throwing himself into danger for the sake of others, and being willing to sacrifice hard things just for what's right, and my Mum says I got my stick-to-it wacky sense of "throw everything at a project until something works" from him.
His inventions or company's patents at least, still make their way here. And same with his pop drinks he got famous for selling: Vitex.
I'm not sure what I'd give him if he was here today. I'd probably beg my best friend to make him a special toolkit set, he'd love that.
Or maybe just a bunch of dorky Dad stuff. He went the last three decades never being a father, but fell into it as naturally as rain. I don't think anyone as young as Tony, my kid brother, has come here, and it's just as well, so maybe not something that would remind him of that. But maybe some cricket gear and I'd play with him, yeah?

[Shakes her head.] I didn't meet him 'til I was 20. He died in my world. I created a paradox trying to see him again, and he realized what I'd done, who I was, and he saved the universe by closing the wound by letting himself get killed, the thing that'd gone all different.
I traveled to another Universe though, the Peter Tyler of that world got famous for Vitex, and even though his company was folded into a bigger one, he was trying to help the President -- of Britain mind you, normally we have a Prime Minister, but it was a different universe, and it's a lot to explain -- because the other CEO was up to some really shady things.
The Jackie Tyler of that universe, Jackie's my Mum, they never had kids in that world, but she got converted into a cyberman, that was part of the shady doings. So me an' Dad tried to go rescue her, but we were too late.
When we finally shut down the cybermen, with the help of the Doctor, of course, but also my Dad too! I finally told him who I was, but it was a lot to take in, and he'd just lost Jackie.
My ex-boyfriend Mickey stayed behind there, in the other universe, even though the Doctor and I went back to ours. And that was how Mickey and Pete, my sort of Alternate Universe would have-been Dad both wound up working at Torchwood to deal with any remaining cybermen threats.
A half year later our time, 3 years for Micks and Pete, the cybermen traveled from their universe to our universe, the Doctor's universe, because the Torchwood London of our Universe was really dumb and helping them.
Mum and Pete were just like... [Snaps fingers and smiles.] Kismet. Lightning. Magnets. So even though they weren't from the same universe, and the Pete my Mum married died, and the Jackie Pete married died, they were still soulmates, yeah?
The Doctor had a plan to get rid of all the cybermen, but it meant me, Mickey, Mum, and Pete and everyone else from Pete's universe had to be in Pete's Universe or we'd get sucked into the void with the cyberman. [Face scrunch.] That's the space between universes, yeah? Space between planets and stars is super vast, but the void is even more. It's really nothingness, it's awful.
They kept tryin' to send me to Pete's Universe, but I didn't want to leave the Doctor. Finally though, when they gave up and I was helping the Doctor, one of the levers fell and when I was pulling it back up, my hands slipped and I was going to get sucked into the Void. But at the last second, Pete caught me and took me back to his universe.
I wish I could say I was a good daughter to him after that but... [A small laugh and Rose shakes her head.] I wasn't! At all! I was a total brat! I was jealous, I never had to share my Mum before, and then they were going to have another kid, and all I wanted to do was run away back to the Doctor's Universe.
But Pete still let me work with him at Torchwood and trusted me with just about anything! My favorite part was testin' his gadgets. We got some alien trash, so we'd play around with it to see what we could make of it, yeah? Some even say that's how microwaves were made, yeah? [Winks.]
But I didn't spend a lot of time with him even then. Like I said, I was being a really stubborn brat!
I hope he'd be more proud of me here though. That I've made Torchwood here something he'd really be proud of.

I don't understand how you did that, but I understand wanting to meet your Dad.
Mine didn't have time for me. I hardly ever saw him.

I understand though. He's the King, the first and last line of defense, the father of the realm.
But still... It's lonely when I could only see him during open court and dinner. All that's left now is a image at the Holodeck.

He found out about my lineage quickly and promised that I would have many knights to protect me, and even counted himself as my "knight in rusty armor."
