[This was not the first time in Bulla's memory that she's ever been sent to a place she didn't even know existed. It's enough that she's able to get over the basic mindblowing concept relatively quickly.

What has her confused is the conflict between some of her memories of when she was last on that other world, and her appearance now. While she hadn't changed her appearance drastically in the two years she spent there, she'd grown her hair out to waist length and now it was back to mid-back. Other physical growth that she'd undergone was absent, too. For all intents and purposes, it was as if she'd been rewound to age 15 all over again. And yet, the memories remained.]

Hi! My name is Bulla Brief and I just got here. After I get settled in, I'd love to meet everyone properly no matter where you come from, but for now, I'd really like to see if anyone who I might know is here.

If any of the following sound familiar to you, give me a shout: Capsule Corp, Saiyan, ki, Balamb Garden, SeeD, fashion club...and that's it for now.

[Wait, what? That's absolutely something that piques her interest but that first name isn't one she's familiar with. Though she can't say the resemblance isn't there, even if she's debating on if she wants to reply or not.

After a moment she's moving to start the video herself inside of where her and 17 are living, a Bewear curled up next to her and just barely visible at her side.]

I don't recall there being a Brief daughter. [Short, simple, to the point.]

Hi Eighteen!

[She pauses and considers something as she looks over her. Eighteen's hair is longer than she recalls it being in her timeline. That doesn't necessarily mean anything, but her time in that other world taught her about the oddities of time compression, and she remembered hearing about a Trunks from a terrible future.]

I...might not be from the same timeline that you are.

[ After throwing a huge party, and working almost non-stop on the upcoming Capsule Corp grand opening, Bulma is actually taking a rare day off. She's draped across the couch in the family's apartment in Nova City, slowly scrolling through the network, when she lands on Bulla's post. ]

Hey, she looks just like-- [ She breaks off when she hears the girl's name, and jumps off the couch as she smashes the reply button and starts recording. ]

Are you--? You said your name is Bulla Brief, right?

Mom! Oh my gosh, I've missed you so much!

[For a moment, Bulla looks delighted. As far as her memories go, it's been two years since she last saw her mom and she has missed her sorely.

Then it dawns on her. Her mom looks younger. Noticeably younger, even though she'd aged well.]

...you don't know me?

[Well, considering she seems calm enough, it's probably at least easy enough to assume she's not from that terrible future.

Either way she's shrugging and just going with the flow, timelines have proven here time and time again to be a pain for figuring out who does or doesn't know something.]

I'd say that's pretty obvious given I haven't seen you before. Though I'm not surprised that they had another child. [What... does that even mean, Eighteen?]

[Oh my kami, it's a miniature Bulma.]

[...except, no, wait, the young girl called herself Bulla. An introduction that caused even more questions. There was very little doubt in Mai's mind that this girl was from an alternate timeline of sorts, but...was it the same one she and Trunks had been to? Or another one altogether?]

I know the first three. Quite well, in fact.

[ She's a little relieved to be called mom, honestly. One of the millions of thoughts running through her mind was that maybe Bulla was an alternate dimension version of herself. They do look remarkably alike, after all. ]

I guess I don't yet! [ She's totally beaming though. ] Your father and brother are going to be surprised too!

[ She's already moving through the apartment, knocking on bedroom doors to see who's home and ready for a speedy trip to pick up the newest member of the family. ]

Once I find one of the boys, we'll come pick you up, and then we can catch up on everything, okay?

[Bulla's going with assuming that's a comment on her parents having a healthy marriage. They might bicker often, but they're still together and loyal to each other in Bulla's timeline.]

Oh, good point. I'm still a little disoriented from arriving here. Is it like that for everyone, or am I just lucky?

[She pauses.]

In my timeline, Marron and I go shopping together sometimes.

That sounds great! Thanks, mom!

[And this reminds her of one of the coolest things about her mom - how easily she can accept strange things and just roll with them. Granted, given how her mom's life was...she's had plenty of practice over the years.]

Hello, then!

[Even though Bulla doesn't remember this girl at all. Maybe she's an employee that her brother and mom have mentioned talking to, and Bulla's simply never had the opportunity to place a face to the name before? Or it's also entirely possible that more timeline shenanigans are at play.]

What's your name?

[Probably the safest bet to go with that, yeah.]

It's like that for almost everyone, though I suppose it's easier for some. Waking up in an almost coffin here wasn't the first time I've been in that situation. [Which was almost said in jest, but there's a disgusting bit of truth within it.

Though at the comment about Marron her expression is shifting for a brief moment from neutral and mostly unreadable to a twinge of pain. She'd mostly come to the conclusion that someone couldn't leave here and some had said time back home doesn't change while you're here, but there's always that fear in the back of her head that time moves on without her and...

She's not going to dwell on it.]

So, speaking of, how old are you and Marron from your timeline?

[One of many questions answered. No recognition at all. Which was...fine, really; she supposed her younger self couldn't have remained at Capsule Corp in every alternate timeline. As nice as the thought would have been.]

[No family name. Just...Mai.]

If your mother is who I think she is, then she and I have known one another for a long time. [To put it mildly.]

[While Bulma's moving through the apartment---Trunks' room is empty, but it's clear he's still home if the notebook and books scattered on the bed are any indication. His phone is by his bed too, which is why he hasn't picked up on this thread yet. Coming back though, the voices are clearer and...huh?

Right as Bulma's turning around, and there's Trunks blinking at her.]

Did I hear that right...in terms of 'thanks mom'?

[Someone is confused, but also home, if Bulma wants company to go pick up the new arrival.]

[ She almost drops her phone when she whips around and comes face to face with her son, but she manages to hang onto it, and she turns it around so he can see the screen. ]

You did! It turns out you have a new baby sister, Trunks!

[ Even though she's not much of a baby anymore, but still! ]

Want to take me to pick her up?

[ Sure, she could drive, but it's such a hassle taking a car from Nova City to Genessia. And Trunks is faster anyway.. ]

[Bulla's eyebrows go up at the mentioning of that not being 18's first time in an almost coffin, but she doesn't comment on it.]

I have memories from being brought to another place that wasn't my home universe, but the arrival was a lot nicer. It was a military boarding school of sorts.

[That's probably the simplest way to explain it.]

I'm fifteen and Marron is almost nineteen.

It's nice to meet you, Mai. My mom is Bulma Brief, if that's who you were thinking of. So...are you a Capsule Corp employee, or is this a timeline thing?

[She's quickly catching on to the fact that this is going to be a Thing, and just rolling with it.]

A...timeline thing.

[Two of many questions answered. Regardless of what or when she was from, Bulla knew about Time Travel. That made things a bit easier, and allowed Mai to let out a small sigh of relief.]

If you don't mind my asking...how much exactly did Bulma tell you?

[Did she know about the alternate future she and Trunks' came from?]

Oooh, all right.

[Bulla might not know extensive details, but she at least knows it's possible, and then her memories of that other universe included weird time issues. She's accepted it, even if trying to think about the exact mechanics and time paradoxes gives her a headache.]

About what?

[Because she's picked up on plenty from being around her over the years. Then she considers her conversation with Mai thus far.]

Unless you mean time stuff. I know that one time Trunks came from a really bad future to prevent some things from happening in his past that led up to the bad future, but I didn't really get more details than that.

[Question number three answered. She knew about her and Trunks' timeline. Question number four...partially answered. She knew about it, but not much it seemed.]

[Still, that gave Mai a solid enough notion of where to begin.]

In that case, I should probably tell you that I come from that same timeline. That's most likely why we've never met before now ; I went to the past with him once, but it was before you were born.

Oh!

[Which leads Bulla to realize that Mai may have been deprived of one type of important life experience: girls' days out. This will have to be remedied.]

I get it now. So, are you and my big brother close? You must be if he brought you with him to the past.

[There was a hint of a smile when she referred to Trunks as 'big brother', and she wondered how Trunks' would react to the news.]

We are.

We've been partners for close to a year now.

Partners as in romantic partners?

[There's a tiny delighted sound. She'd always hoped that Trunks would find himself someone nice and she likes Mai so far. But she might have gotten it wrong and it could be partners as in teammates.]

[...one would think it'd dawn on Mai how a teenaged girl could misinterpret that statement so easily. But, judging by the way her cheeks grew visibly hot, turning a lovely shade of tomato, Bulla's words had caught her completely off-guard.]

I-it's not like that!

[Then, coughing once to regain what little composure she had left, she added...in a more sheepish tone:]

What I meant was...we fought together. We've been fighting together. Almost since the day we met.

I'd trust him with my life.

Oh! Oopsie! My mistake.

[Still, she's noticed that blush. She's not going to be tactless enough to ask Mai if she does like Trunks as more than a friend on a public network, but she makes a note to ask her privately later.]

So, teammates and best friends, then.

[1000% her mother's daughter. No question.]

I suppose so, yes.

We've been staying-- [And, here, she cut herself off, the realization of the situation even fading the last of her embarrassment as a new priority took over.] --oh, Bulma! That's right!

She's here, too. If she hasn't already found you. And your father. And Goku. We've all been staying together...I have no doubt Bulma will want you there as well.

[Although that might...make the room situation a little more complicated.]
