It looks like Katsuki-san went home... I can't find him in my phone's contact list. [And she's been trying really hard to call him. There's so much she wanted to tell him about her plans. It stings that she can't.

Yet, she doesn't look as heartbroken as she did when Ada disappeared.]

He's probably back home taking those hero classes and becoming stronger, though, so I guess it's a good thing. I'll bet he's happier, and he's probably working really really hard, so...

[She nods slowly, reaffirming her own optimistic position, and then breaths in. Time for her to work hard too! To be the "hero" Bakugou thought she was.] I think that Guardian elections happen at the end of November, right? I'm running this time. I've thought about it a lot, but I think I'm gonna do it. There's a lot that I think could be done here.

But before I start on the politics stuff, I want to be better informed on a particular topic. Can anyone tell me what they know about the barriers around the cities? Do we know anything about what's on the other side? How much do we know about those 'Spirits' I've heard hold up the barrier? And don't waste my time telling me to check books. I've done that. I want to find out what I've missed. Like first hand accounts.

Thank you!

[[ Video ]]

[ It's official. Everglade has a healing problem.

With no Heals on Wheels anymore, there's no one to delegate emergencies that require a healer in Everglade. Konoka herself can answer the most dire ones, but she's a Fayren deputy. And running off to solve Everglade problems is a recipe for disaster, if the last two times were of any indication. So today, she comes on the comm to ask a couple of important questions. ]

Hey everyone? I got a request to make.

Can someone act as a full time healer for Everglade? It might be more necessary these days. I'd do it myself, but I'm already a deputy of Fayren. Not to mention my horrendous luck the last few times I was there...

Oh, and another thing. Sometime this month, you might turn into a monster and lose any power unique to you, so please be careful! This goes double for us healers! I'm working on a back up plan, but I don't know if it will work...

[[ Fayren | Action ]]

[ Well, she still has jobs to do! Konoka spends much of her day at her shop, Mahora Fortune and Onmyodou, selling her charms, ofuda, and more recently, specialized incense in time for Halloween. Of note, there's a sign that says "Now Hiring" outside. When not there, she is touring Fayren itself, helping out whoever she can. She's one of Fayren's deputies after all, and keeping the peace is part of her job description. Generally, she stops by outside of dungeons like the Favnir Ruins or the sewers to heal those leaving. She does wander around the uncharted forests, generally finding them safer to navigate than... well any part of Everglade to be honest. She'll take dragons over all those undead, not to mention she actually knows friendly dragons! Of course, familiar faces are more than welcome to convince her to visit elsewhere.

It's the evening, after all the healing's done, that she retreats to Amatsu Inn. It's a cozy reminder of home, to the point that she's wound up crashing here rather than go back to her apartment in Genessia, especially on the longer work nights! She's mentioned to Ayame about moving in here permanently as to offset some cost, plus it means when issues crop up in Fayren, she can get there faster! ]

[ Waking within a coffin isn't anything new to him. One might even say that to eventually one day wake to an entirely different world would not be so far a stretch for him to experience. However, to be taken so abruptly from his comrades and mission to put an end to his father's madness, that is new and potentially frustrating, let alone confusing. Add to that the fact that the coffin itself had been surrounded by water (a nightmare in itself) and, well, it had been a rather trying moment for him to get himself out of that situation, but he had, with minor injury involved. Thankfully.

The dynamics of this world are different and foreign to him, the device he has been given almost magical with the way it functions. However, as always with keeping himself calm and composed no matter the situation, it's only after he has come to learn that it is only him and that neither Trevor nor Sypha have accompanied him here, that he makes his way throughout the city.

It is both during day and twilight that he will be found around the city, wishing to learn as much as he can about his new surroundings and what this might mean for him given his mission has now been placed on hold. Pan's Grocery is one place he ends up and it's clear with the look on his face that he hasn't any idea what much of this stuff that lines the shelves are. The Library is another place he finds himself, having an affinity for the older books that are shelved and always one for obtaining more knowledge. He's already grabbed a few books that have caught his interest, having them neatly stacked beside him to the point where they reach just a touch higher than his own height. Careful not to knock them over? The Garden Park is where he can also be found (though not near the pond), keeping to himself mostly on a bench under a colouring tree, trying to figure out how to properly work this device he's been given. So long as you have no qualms about the sword which he keeps by his side or how unnaturally pale he looks, he will not shun anyone who comes near. He might even appreciate some help with this device. ]

everglade
[ It's no surprise that he would end up within this city, is it? Come dusk or midnight itself, he will be found wandering the foggy streets of the city, not at all looking perturbed by its so-called reputation it seems to have. Although, should one seek to challenge him for whatever reason that may be, it will be with a hand on the hilt of his blade at his side that he offers an "I wouldn't" as means of a warning. Otherwise, The Rabbit's Foot is one place which has piqued his interest given the so-called essentials for one living within this city it claims to have; it's a place which he will be found looking around, if even for idle curiosity. As with the library in Genessia City, Periodicals and Paperbacks is a place he can be found within, the tips of fingers gently caressing over the spine of each and every book that catches his eye, perhaps even intending to purchase a few that he holds within an arm. He will be around the Cloak and Dagger but doesn't enter the shop for whatever reason. Otherwise, it's Mystic's Alley where you might find him making his way through. ]

[It was supposed to be a short visit to the Dream Docks to get some insight. But when the video starts, thanks to Bakugou falling on his phone, the image becomes even more confusing. There's a strange texture that looks oddly like flesh near the camera, moving and emitting grunting noises. It twitches and manages to get further away to reveal his highest evolutionary stage, the Bakumeatball.

Help he needs a hero!!!]

[Anyone who’s spoken to Bulla for more than five minutes will know that there’s something off about her when she turns on the network post. The small smile she offers the network doesn’t reach her eyes and seems to be more of an automatic gesture rather than a sincerely happy smile.]

The Dream Docks sure are interesting. I thought I'd get memories of home, but instead I got memories of another world.

[That’s one way to describe all the memories that have flooded her mind. Memories that somehow happened at the same time as other ones.]

I’d love to hear from anyone who has multiversal experience. This is now multiverse number three for me. Weird, huh?

[Like her smile, her cheer doesn’t seem genuine so much as it’s just going through the motions to pretend that she’s okay.]

I hope I didn’t miss anything too interesting while I was away.

[Orihime's face is serious as she regards the screen. Once the device is turned on, she sits back and takes a breath. There's a lot she wants to talk about...the new branch of Cake Town in Fayren, the two-week disappearance. But the latter is still too raw to discuss without leaving a bitter feeling in her gut, and the former too trivial.]

I want to know...if there are other heroes out there, who don't really make themselves publicly known.

[Her fingers dig a little tighter into the mattress.]

Last year there was one who went by X-Ray. He didn't have a good reputation, but he was a good hero. He didn't sign up for any hero jobs because he didn't want to be paid for what he was doing. Being true to his ideals meant he didn't have a great place to live, and couldn't really afford to eat well either. And that didn't seem right to me.

[Her gaze drifts down for a moment, her jaw tight. Then she glances at the camera again.]

So I thought there might be others like that here too, in similar situations. It's been bugging me for a long time, so I've worked really hard at expanding Cake Town. That way, I could afford to do something about it that isn't just donating leftover bread. If you're in a situation like that, let me know. It doesn't have to be a public response, and you can use whatever identity you're comfortable with. I'll keep it confidential.

[Orihime eases her grip on the sheets, exhaling quietly.]

...And let me know if you're open to the idea of a team or if you prefer to do things solo.

[With a nod of her head, she reaches forward and disconnects the feed. She has some training of her own to do.]

Action Prompts )

[Izuku Midoriya holds the communicator far enough in front of him that it puts both him and Neito Monoma in equal view. Izuku’s face is fairly sober from where he stands on the sidewalk in front of the Schnee Foundation.]

It seems like it’s working according to the instructions.

[He knits his brow, a gloved hand knuckling his mouth. His expression eases as he glances toward the taller blond boy beside him. For the time being, it seems like the rivalry between their classes has been set aside in favor of navigating this situation as a quasi-team.]

Do you want to go first?

[He gestures toward the radio, dropping his hand from his mouth. It’s a show of good faith, since Monoma in the past has always seemed...well, a little bitter about the attention given to Class 1A]

[Finding oneself kidnapped means pragmatism takes precedence over a rivalry. If that means he has to temporarily team up with a student from 1A to get results, so be it. He’ll simply have to make sure to get a better job, and exceed Midoriya and anyone else from class 1A who might be here in more civilian ways. He takes the radio. He’s skeptical about spirits, but since their only source of information has claimed spirits are responsible, he won’t question it for now.]

Does anyone here know why the spirits have kidnapped us? Do they have specific criteria? Or could someone have been an innocent bystander near someone more likely to get in trouble?

[He looks pointedly in the direction of the other boy with him at that last part. Yup, that bitterness toward 1A is still in tact. He’s just toning it down in light of their circumstances.]

Er…

[Izuku really can’t think of anything to say to that. So he doesn’t even try. He gives his head a quick shake before resuming Serious Talk.]

We’d also like any updates on the current state of affairs, especially where crimefighting is concerned. We’re both heroes in training--

[He reaches for his pocket, then pales, and starts patting himself down more frantically. Oh no! He showed up here without his wallet?! Aw c’mon!]

J-just a second! My license…

[He fishes his phone out of his pocket, quickly tapping at the screen until his mouth quirks wryly and he turns the device around. There’s a picture of his license bearing his smiling face, his name, and his status as a provisionally licensed hero. Was it necessary to provide proof? Probably not! But it still feels like he should to lend them credibility.]

My wallet wasn’t in my pocket when I was taken, so I guess this will have to do for now. I’m Izuku Midoriya. This is Neito Monoma. We may be new, but we’re here to help wherever we might be needed.

[Izuku pockets his phone again, looking to the other teen to see if there’s anything else he wants to add.]

[Huh. That was more diplomatic and well spoken than Neito would have expected from the rival class, so he skips out on making any further snide remarks and simply nods.]

We’ll eagerly await your answers.

[Izuku grins, then waves at the screen. That went pretty good!]

[OOC: Green is Midoriya, blue is Monoma. Either one will answer unless someone is sending a private message!]

Genessia Carnival

The week of the carnival has arrived! With the combined effort of paid workers, volunteers, Azura, and those Azura decided were going to help her (Looking at you Fam), the setup has gone without a hitch. Those who come by the large park in Genessia City during the morning and afternoon of the 16th will see the carnival in various stages of completion. It isn't the sun starts to set and the sky begins to burn the colors of pink and orange with a topping of blue that the lights on the carnival tents and other structures come to life.

THE CARNIVAL IS ON.

It's clear that the carnival takes up almost all of the park; it's setup done so that the rides, attractions, booths and other assorted portions of the carnival are setup around ponds and lakes and take advantage of paths in the park. At the entrance are a myriad of food stalls, while the bigger rides are further in the back. In between are smaller attractions like games, but more importantly this is where all of the booths for the residents are set up. Several rows deep, the offerings here are wildly different and each engaging in its own way. Lastly, the larger attractions of the Carnival are organized in the large central portion of the carnival where a large area has been cleared and sectioned off in 4 large rectangles to house each with plenty of room.

Carnival Fare

  1. Food And Drink - There are so many smells that sometimes your nose might be confused. From the scent of roasting meat, to the smell of sugary sweet cotton candy, the myriad of scents mingle throughout the whole carnival. There's an entire section of picnic tables for carnival goers to take a load off and eat their fill. The admission ticket even paid for complimentary drinks! However, there are plenty of stalls that are offering much more interesting options, including alcohol (for adults only!). Food ranges in price of course, and unfortunately there are a few stalls that might be overpricing their food...

  2. Rides and Attractions - The carnival isn't complete without classic carnival rides. There's a ferris wheel, teacups, several different merry-go-rounds, as well as a SUPER ROMANTIC Tunnel of Love. For the more adventurous there's even a few smaller sized roller coasters as well as an interesting looking magically powered water slide that's powered by a couple of local wizards and a "Doctor". One of the most popular rides seems to be the bumper cars, where each car has the chance to change shape on impact. Lastly for those who are brave enough there's a 2 story haunted house of mirrors full of jump scares and atmospheric music.

  3. Games and Stalls - THIS is where all of those stalls that were signed up for are. Of course, they make up the bulk of stalls, though the ones that are food oriented border the area mentioned earlier. Other booths such as shooting ranges, pingpong ball toss, fortune tellers, toy building booths and even a couple of booths where you can fish up your own little fish pet are here. Careful though, some of these booths are lowkey ripoffs, since they were largely built by volunteers. Should you get scammed it's wise to try and find security rather than handle it yourselves.

Main Attractions

  1. Randomized Plays - These plays are held nightly, but they're not your traditional plays. Participants are chosen from the audience who paid admission! On top of that, the roles are randomly assigned. You never really know what you're going to get, so in the end the plays come out a lot like improv. They're also largely hilarious, unintentionally or otherwise as often the two plays wind up intermingled! Once, Rumtumtugger wound up playing the part of Belle, while Gaston had to do a solo song all on his own... In the end, it'll be up to you what role your character plays, but it's never quite what's expected. Behind the scenes must be a riot no matter what!

  2. Obstacle Course - One attraction at the center of the carnival seems to weave around the other three, and out into the grounds itself. It's a complicated series of obstacles, from a pit of inky, oily water, to slippery bridges and swinging portions that need to be dodged. Portions of the course are even quite vertical, offering a strenuous climb as part of the challenge. This course is not for the faint of heart, and many will find themselves having to give up halfway through, or even being disqualified by being knocked out of the course. Those who choose to work together might make it farther but in the end only one can win. Be prepared for betrayal if you take that route...

  3. Eating Competition - There's not just one eating competition during the week of the carnival. Instead, several are held throughout the week. Hotdogs are first, followed by pancakes, then burgers. After that, towards the final three days of the carnival the bigger competitions start.
    • Hotdogs - how many can you eat in 5 minutes?
    • Pancakes - how many can you eat in 5 minutes?
    • Burgers - how many can you eat in 8 minutes?
    • Whole Chickens - You have 3, can you eat them all in 12 minutes?
    • Whole Turkey - You have an entire turkey, how much can you eat in 10 minutes?
    • 6 Tier Chocolate Cake - Finish the whole cake to win. (Hour Time Limit)
Those who have supernatural abilities are given an extra challenge to make things fair. For those who eat themselves sick there is a medical tent nearby, and of course plenty of room for a crowd of spectators.

  4. Jousting Competition - The colorful, campy and overall cheesy look of this jousting competition almost looks like a childish version of the competition. However, the prizes are real. Instead of the prize for the winning "knight" the winner of each match will be able to earn a fair sum of redbills! It's enough to cover the entry fee paid for the competition and then a couple hundred on top of that. Each participant chooses their weapon, but they all have different strange additional abilities depending on their color...
    • Yellow - sparkles on impact
    • Red - screams upon impact
    • Green - slimes whatever it hits
    • Blue - freezes what it touches for 3 seconds
For this competition special abilities beyond that of a normal human are dampened by special units hidden in the ring. Disabling them would of course, wind up in the participant being disqualified.

[24-Hour Convenience Store]

[By the time she walks through the automatic doors, she's pretty wet, but she still greets the sales clerk with a cheerful smile before heading toward the freezer section to buy an orange popsicle. On a rainy September night. At 2:30 in the morning.]

[And a strawberry milk.]

[The cashier doesn't pass any judgment, just ringing up her purchases while she digs out her communicator, looking at the list of names she knows. She kind of wants to call someone and talk, but... They're probably all asleep, and even if they weren't, what would she say? 'I sure do miss my friend who turned into dust and I'm worried the same will happen to you so please tell me a joke and make me laugh!']

Mm...

[She lowers the communicator, troubled, only to blink in surprise and hastily apologize when she realizes the cashier has been waiting for her to pay. Hastily she digs out a pair of red bills and bows her head before hustling outside. She unwraps the popsicle and pulls up the hood of her jacket. If anyone thinks it looks weird, she'll just say she's getting used to late night patrols.]

-----------------

[Two Hours Later]

[It looks like Orihime was trying to headbutt a vending machine. She's sleeping straight up, arms limp and swung forward, her body tilted into the machine at a perfect 45-degree angle. Her communicator is sticking halfway out of her pocket with a nonsensical message sent out to one or more people:]

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Chicago

[And there's a popsicle stick hanging out of her open mouth.]

[The camera is on, and it views a vast open area with some cages under the shades thanks to the trees. One of the cages shows a tiger dipping in a large pool of water. He even reaches out with his paws to catch the camera which Seventeen doesn't seem to fear. Seventeen bats gently at the reached paw, like giving the cat a high five. He continues to film the rest of the sanctuary as he talks.]

Before anyone asks, no. I didn't kidnap the tiger in Genessia.

[The video now shows him while he's talking. There might be a bear dancing for fun in the background.]

Island Sanctuary is finally open to the public. Hours are posted and all entry fees and gift shops purchases are donated here. Volunteers are always welcome to help clean and feed them. If you're lucky, you might learn something.

The fair is coming up fast, and I'll have a booth supporting this. I plan to bring a horse for rides around the fair grounds. That means me walking with the animal as you ride. I'm not reliable if she retaliates because she doesn't like you. If all goes well, I'll probably offer riding lessons here. Again, that depends, so common sense people.

And... Eighteen returned home.

[That said, he clicks off. Back to work. Dammit sis.]

What is school like where you're from? Is it like here? How long are you expected to go for?

Do you learn about history and religion there or only history or only religion?

What are your world's teachings on different planes or dimensions? Is there a heaven and hell that are taught? Have there been wars about this? What's the worst depiction of hell, or best depiction of heaven?

In my world, religion is just something parents opt their children into, if they want. It's not even allowed in public classrooms in my country. People don't much believe in afterlife, and even less in the idea that supernatural beings take an interest in anyone's daily affairs. It's a little jarring how readily everyone accepts the existence of demons here. It just reminds me of the 80s when there was a lot of "Satanic Panic" and people thought if you played rock albums backwards it had codes to summoning demons to possessing people.

It seems like even if demons are real, humans probably don't understand them any better than the early myths about what made rain and thunder.

I'm thinking about taking my friend up on an offer to get set up with a blind date. I don't really have much dating experience, especially with surprise dates. Is there anything I should keep in mind?

Did you ever have a really good experience?

A really bad one?

Anything helps!

[The camera seems to have been turned on by Ichigo's phone finally falling off of wherever it had been precariously perched, because the angle is nowhere near straight-on. The teen is passed out on the couch of his apartment, one arm dangling down toward the floor, and it's apparent that he's been taking his duties at the Genessia City Hospital seriously, because he's still in his scrubs - pale blue with little grinning death skulls patterns on them that some wag gave him - and there's a medical textbook open across his chest.

Several more textbooks are visible stacked haphazardly in various places across the room, ranging across various medical subjects and emergency treatment topics. There are a few abandoned take-out boxes here and there, but for the most part he's done his best to keep the place clean. It helps that he's just...almost never home lately. Or at least not often.

Ichigo shifts in his sleep, eyebrows furrowing in the usual scowl, and the textbook drops down with a heavy thump. He opens a tired eye at that thump and glances around, then looks down at the active phone and the scowl deepens.]

Shit...

[And then he reaches out and grabs his phone, turning the video off.]

Stupid thing is broken...

[The video turns on after one violent collision with Bakugou's bedroom wall, the teen having thrown his phone in annoyance. From the looks in his bedroom, it's daylight, but you wouldn't know it by talking to him.]

Did the power in this shitty building go out? Isn't it run by magic? What time is it...?

[He finds and grabs his phone, but not before running his head into his shelf, cursing. He's not looking directly at the camera.]

You're probably still asleep Fire Hair, but when you wake up where did you want to rehearse the shitty play?

[Action at Fairy Haven]

[This building is fucking dark when the power's out. Bakugou leaves his room, figuring it will be brighter when he gets outside. Walking slower than normal, he keeps one hand against the wall and is doing fine...

Until he bumps his face into your character. Stopping, his hand goes up to their face to try and figure out who it is.]
