[Video/Open] 3rd Sorte ~ Dreaming Again

Who: The Tenno of Naramon and You
What: Questions
Where: Genessia
Warnings: Spoilers for The Sacrifice quest in the closed thread below.

She sat in her orbiter, meditating by the window. Deep in silent thought. It had been several months since the Tenno of Naramon stepped out of the bay and into Genessia for the first time. And since, she had been deeply immersed in research: reading books and combing through the network logs. What she found was... troubling. But it would take more time before any of her hypothetical theories became potentially concrete.

Not to mention it was difficult coping without the Lotus there to help.

However, she had heard about something called the dream docks. Something that would allow her to see the world back home, if only for a moment. That might be worth looking into. She shifted, Nyx's plates shifting quietly as she straightened up.

First though, she had several calls to make...

------------------

The screen flickered on, showing Nyx's blank face plate staring into the camera. "I would like to know if anyone has any information on this world beyond what the network records hold. I've learned a lot but I would like to know more."

"I would also love to hear of anyone's culture or home world. I guess it's a bit forward of me to ask like this but everyone and everything I've encountered in this world has been so foreign to me. It's still overwhelming. Despite being here for several months."

------------------

The Tenno was out of her Warframe this time, chewing on her lip, brow furrowed deeply in thought. There was only one other tenno in this place. And she needed backup if she was going to investigate the dream docks. After all, she didn't know exactly how they worked.

She tapped the phone after another moment, contacting the Tenno of Madurai.

"Hello..." A pause. "Excuse me for skipping pleasantries but this is important. I think I've found a way to find out what's going on back in the Origin system. But I'm going to need some backup. I'm not entirely sure how it works."

"I'm going to send you some coordinates. Meet me there."

When his own feed turned on, Volt could be seen in the side of the frame looking more like a bookshelf than anything. His "research" had kept him basically buried in novels that he was mistaking for historical accounts of various worlds. When she makes the request and receives the coordinates, he nods in understanding.

"You've felt it too, haven't you? I've been considering checking out that place myself. Ever since you mentioned what happened to The Lotus... I've felt uneasy and... I was hoping to find some sort of text that might shed some light on what happened in the Library but so far my efforts have been in vain."

He picks up the device just long enough for the "Young Adult" sign denoting the aisle to be visible before setting it on the stack of books in Volt's arms and stepping into the Warframe. Once the books are set down, he picks up the device once more and nods at it.

"I'm on my way."

Look, research wasn't exactly taught in Madurai. He's doing the best he can.

It wouldn't take long for him to show up either. He may not use it often in a firefight, but Speed made getting around the cities much easier. He will be glancing up at the Orbiter, wondering just how she gained access to her Orbiter.

"Y-yeah, I'm here." He takes a moment to check his Boltor to make sure it was locked and loaded. "Any idea what to expect in here?"

The Madurai Tenno remains in Volt, adjusting his grip on the Boltor as he nods at the remark.

"I've been wanting to verify what you told me upon arrival here as well. Are you sure we shouldn't go in together, though? If this is some sort of trap we'd be better off together."

If Volt had eyes, it would've been blinking very rapidly. Of course the Madurai Tenno had heard of the Sancti Tigris, and even seen it in battle a few times when teaming up with other Tenno. However, given New Loka's less than favorable appreciation of who he'd aligned himself with, he'd written off ever using one himself.

After catching the gun and holstering the Bolotor, Volt set to work inspecting the shotgun, admiring the handiwork before glancing back at the Namaron Tenno. "You're sure? The Sancti Tigris isn't exactly common or cheap, not to mention I'm not exactly on speaking terms with New Loka... If you're sure, I'd be honored to use it, and if you ever change your mind I would gladly return it to you..."

Still he will take up a defensive position as his comrade enters the docks.

The Madurai Tenno was too stunned to make a proper response to being scolded by the New Loka priestess. He waited for two hours before going inside, gun at the ready... only to have the staff assure him everything was alright, and that this was normal. After taking some pamphlets to verify, he took up a defensive position outside again.

For three days he held his vigil. When he saw a Warframe emerging from the Dream Docks, he tensed, especially as it was a frame he was unfamiliar with. And when it moved after the Naramon Tenno stepped out, the Tigris Sancti was raised into a ready position, utterly confused.

"What's going on? ...How did it move without you?"

"Tenno!"

Boy did he still feel awkward without having an actual name. Oh well, moving on.

"I've finally got the hang of pinning those leaves! Will you have to verify yourself? Don't worry, I've picked a shady spot. I'll be happy to regale you with tales about America while you're out."

Hopefully she brought the Frost warframe along.

Certainly has; even rigged his void to provide a constant stream of falling leaves so he'd abuse the trees less and get more time in. He's thought of everything.

"Haha, 'pilot'? The park can't be that far a walk, can it? Take your time; the weather's not that bad."

It definitely is but far be it from him to diminish the sun's goodness, however excessively it shone. When she arrives, she'll find him with a confident smile in light clothing, shinai in hand, leaning on an oak tree to give it what for.

He can see why she's so outfitted, should the chill creep nearer. But it's amusing and tempting to think she just enjoys playing dress up. The eternal choice between War- and fashion-frame. Well, on to business.

"All right." He turned towards the tree, resolving it to be the last he'd thwack. The problem hadn't been pinning a leaf, but doing so consistently. He'd tried both ruthless speed, which worked when the force of the blow didn't create its own problems through stirring the air. Then he'd tried being gentle and soft, which worked again when it didn't let the leaf escape through slowness.

Then he'd tried a middle road, which combined the middling successes and failures of both. It grew very frustrating, until he thought about what she meant by "Naramon": adapting and adjusting according to the enemy. Being reactive enough to be weak or strong, swift or slow depending on the other's movement. What he needed wasn't one winning method, but a plethora of potential with flexible actualization.

A poetic solution, if nothing else. Which is why when he does strike the tree, he's honed in on one leaf in particular. The way gravity moved them on the way down had been indelibly etched into his brain. The way they twirled until they exposed the maximum surface area to the point of his wooden sword. Even the way other leaves would alter its trajectory.

He thrust like a springing viper, managing to pinch not one, but two leaves on the same trunk. By the surprised look on his face, that wasn't planned. But he'll take it.

"Hah, well, how do you like that?"

Ted lets the poor leaves fall, looking pleasantly satisfied still. He quirked his smile her way.

"'Some'?" He'd hoped for something full and comprehensive, like "all". Perhaps, he thought, she hasn't the time.

"Ah, well: it's fun, for a start. I once entered a competition for it, but didn't place. I was naturally not a little displeased." Not getting gold in fencing? Unacceptable!

"And, aheh, I would like to surpass my sensei some day. She'd be very impressed, and then perhaps we might...move on to another activity, say." He sounds a little shier at that, partly for the displeasing thought of fighting women, partly for the mention of Satsuki, even vaguely, making him tender.

"Oh, and...the poetry behind swords is very fine. I've always felt an affinity for them. Like the dividing sword wielded by Justice, or the flaming one used to keep people out of the Garden of Eden. Few weapons enjoy the shape of the cross, eh? And Liechtenauer said something like 'all fencing requires the help of the righteous God.' The chivalry and truth of the never ceases to edify.

Ah! And, of course, for the usual. Good and chivalrous deeds, I mean. Can't put the wicked to the sword if one's hand is green, eh?"

He's clearly excited, talking so much. Give Ted an inch...
