[Video/action] OTA!

[ This video opens with a teenage girl standing on a street corner just passed the hologram and news stand. She looks pretty cheerful for having just woken up here, and she's waving excitedly to the camera. ]

Hi new friends! My name is Star Butterfly, and since Marco still has the dimensional scissors, I guess that means I live here now! Is it always this hot here?

[ Yep, that's her one gripe about the whole situation. ]

Anywaaaaay, I'm from another dimension like probably everyone here is. I'm the princess of Mewni, and I stayed on Earth for a while to do some magic training, blah blah blah, and now I'm here! I thought I'd meet all my new neighbors and help everyone cool off with...

ICE CREAM AND PUPPIES!

[ She swings her phone around to show a table she's magicked into existence that is covered with ice cream cones of varying colors that don't really seem right. Some of the ice cream is black, some of it is blood red or purple, some of it looks like it might be plaid somehow. It's all melting fairly quickly too.

There might also be a large litter of adorable puppies scampering around. Some are wrestling with each other, some are licking ice cream cones, and some are opening their mouths and shooting streams of ice cold water at each other.

Star turns the camera on herself again, grinning as she twirls her wand in her phone-free hand. ]

They're magic water puppies, they'll cool you right off. So come by before all the ice cream me--

[ A stream of water hits her phone and sends it clattering across the asphalt. It might be a few minutes before she gets it dried off so she can respond. ]

[Mami picked up a puppy that was getting a little far from the rest of the group, and walked over to the girl.]

Hello, I'm Mami Tomoe. I saw this little one trying to wander off. It wouldn't be good for it to get lost.

[She set the puppy down with the others as it shot water at her face. She yelped at the sudden cold water. And then laughed.]

Well, that's definitely an effective way to cool off. So you can summon whatever you want?

[The real question is how did she get soaked, but her hair stay in place?]

Ooooh hi there, puppy wrangler Mami! What a cute name!

[ That really is a great question too, especially since Star's hair is sort of looking like a towel someone used to mop up water then left next to the washing machine for days. She doesn't seem to notice though. ]

WEEEEEEELL... Sort of! I didn't super finish all my training, but most of the time I can make anything! Narwhals and Warnicorns are my specialties but I can make other things too! Wanna see?

Thank you. [She giggled.]

Oh really? But making living things sounds difficult. You must be pretty skilled!

Perhaps Narwhals and Warnicorns might be a bit much at the moment, but I'd love to see what you can do.

Yep, I'm pretty magical.

[ She says it in a mockingly self-congratulatory tone, even going as far as buffing her fingernails on the front of her dress. She drops the act pretty quickly though, and holds her wand out in front of her, gripped with both hands. ]

Okay, get ready! I'm going to really cool us down! SUMMER HEALING SNOWSTORM EXPLOSION!

[ Probably not the best choice of words for a spell, but it's too late now. She swings her wand, as it glows and shoots a pink beam of light into the sky. A dark cloud, about a few feet wide, begins to form, and snow starts to gently fall on the two girls. ]

I think I just fixed our... Heat... Problem. Oh no.

[ The cloud begins to change shape, and it sort of looks like a cannon? A moment or two later, it starts to fire baseball sized chunks of ice at Star. ]

SHIELD! SHIELD!!

[ She holds her wand out, and covers both of them, along with the puppies and ice cream, with a pink-tinted dome of energy. ]

Oops! Heh. At least we're cold now, right?

[ Each word is punctuated by a loud thunk of hail hitting the dome. ]

[As soon as Mami saw the canon she transformed, but Star had already summoned a shield.]

Yes, we are definitely cold. Although, it's a welcome change from the heat, I think that's enough of being fired at for now.

[As she said that, Gold and red ribbons surround and squeeze the cloud to try and get it to break apart.]

Whooooaaaaaa!

[ One more ice chunk hits the shield before the cloud canon breaks apart in Mami's ribbons. The last little bits of cloud start to drift away harmlessly. ]

Ribbon magic...

[ Star's shield starts dissipate as Star flails her arms wildly and turns to Mami. ]

You didn't tell me that you're magical too!!! This is amazing!

Can you make Strawberry Sundaes?

[Just gonna ignore all the rest of that nonsense for now.]

[ Her eyes widen, and she nods excitedly. ]

I had those on Earth, so it should be a piece of cake! But not really, because it's ice cream.

STRAWBERRY WARNICORN TURBO SUNDAE SLAM!

[ There's a fancy little flourish of her wand, and a pink-tinted flash of light. She then turns her phone to show him a huge strawberry sundae in the middle of the street, encased in a dish shaped like a life-sized glass horse. On closer inspection, the horse is a really buff and disgruntled looking unicorn. And it has a set of wheels protruding from each hoof. ]

Oh. I shouldn't have said turbo. But hey, it's a to go dessert!

I like the enthusiasm. Your skills are going to be in high demand the next few days. Just... pace yourself.

[ She beams proudly at the comment on her enthusiasm. It was normally something she'd get lectured about back on Mewni, so it's actually kind of nice to feel appreciated for it, in some manner. ]

You think so? Are strawberry sundaes really in demand here? Did you want thi-- Oh.

[ The Warnicorn sundae is actually rolling away now. She gives it a little wave as it disappears down the street, and whispers in its general direction. ]

Be well on your journey, mighty sundae.

So long as I'm here there are 3 things that will always be in demand: booze, pizza, and strawberry sundaes.

Pizza... Oh, triangle foods! You like those too, huh? But what's a booze? It sounds like a party of ghosts or something.

Booze is something you're too young for, kiddo. Don't worry about that. As for pizza, if you've not had pizza, then you have some learning to do, and I'm more than happy to be the teacher in this regard.

Wait so, stay with me here, pizza and nachos are both triangles, but are they the same? I've had nachos.

[ She's also totally going to ask around to find out about booze. Maybe it's some super cool dark magic that only adults can do. ]

Oh you sweet summer child. [Don't mind that giddy look on his face. He's never been able to introduce someone to pizza before.]

Nachos are great, but pizza? Pizza is downright magical. And I'm treating you to your first one. I'll send you the directions to my favorite pizza place.

[And a few seconds later, directions to a pizza place will show up on Star's device.]

Magical... Okay, I'm going there now! I gotta have this magical pizza!

[ She doesn't stop the video either, so it's just a blur of pink smoke and dizzying movement as she uses her wand to magically propel herself in the direction of pizza. ]

[Dante will meet her there, a guitar case slung over his shoulder, smirking as she arrives.]

Might want to turn your camera off, kiddo.

[Once he's said that he opens the door for Star, making a quick gesture to the person coming to seat them. Apparently he does this sort of thing a lot because the server just nods and smiles before going back to the kitchen and shouting "THE USUAL" at the staff.]

I come here a lot. So much so that they keep the booth in the back over there reserved for me.

Ooooh yeah, I always forget to hang up on these things.

[ Once they're inside, she follows Dante, finally ending her extremely long video conversaion. ]

So you're like a pizza celebrity? [ She gasps dramatically, pointing to his guitar case. ] Are you a Songstrel?!

[Dante laughs as he sets his guitar case against the table, the case making distinct metallic thunk, before flopping into the booth.]

Don't know what a Songstrel is, but I'm far from a celebrity. I just eat here like... four times a week.

[ She drops into the seat across from him, but she can barely sit still, thanks to the pizza excitement. ]

Oh, it's someone who writes music and plays an instrument, and one gets picked to do the Song Day song whenever the princess of Mewni turns 15. It's usually just a bunch of lies about how sweet and wonderful she is, but I just had mine and it was a little different.

[ Like almost made the royal family get overthrown because she had the one Songstrel who was willing to be truthful different, but eh. ]

It was pretty real. But, I think if you eat at one place that much then it kind of makes you a celebrity there, right? Maybe I'll get my own table here too!

[ She looks around the restaurant, already trying to decide on a good one. ]

[For a kid that looks fairly normally human, Dante's not sure if he should believe the whole magical space princess thing. For now though, he decides he has no reason to not believe her.]

Aha. I am something of a musician, but I'm no songwriter. And that? [He motions to the guitar case.] That's an instrument used only for the Adults Only shows I put on. I keep it with me at all times... it's sort of a part of me.

[One of the waiters comes over with a large mug of beer he slides to Dante before asking for Star's choice of drink. Dante looks a tad awkward given his comments about booze. Gonna have to keep an eye on this mug...]

So, tell me a bit about yourself. It'll be a little bit before the pizza is ready, but I promise it'll be worth it.

[ She squints at his guitar case, pushing her face just a bit closer to inspect it. Adult shows? What does that mean? Why does this place have so much stuff for adults only? SUSPICIOUS. And it's part of him?? Is it made of organs or hair or something?! She really wants to see it now.

Luckily, when he speaks again, it snaps her out of her train of thought. Mostly. She might keep casting sideways glances at the case. ]

Oh, sure! Well, I'm 15, and I lived on Mewni until last year, when my parents sent me to Earth and I met my Earth best friend, Marco. Umm, a bunch of stuff happened, I blew up a bunch of stuff, I lost my magic teacher AND my spellbook, I had to go back home, and then Marco came to live there, and then I woke up here!

Uhhh, also, I like fighting, puppies, music, TV, [ She's counting these all off on her fingers ] magic, friends, warnicorns, rainbows, fire, and animals in hats.

[ She points her wand at the tabletop, and poofs a tiny snake wearing a fancy bowler hat into existence. It glances at both of them in turn before slithering off somewhere. ]

What about you?

[He wasn't expecting something that fast paced. He's still not sure what a Warnicorn is, but that's a question for another time. Of course when she asks about him, he hesitates for a moment, taking a long drink of his beer, but ultimately decides to be honest.]

I'm a half demon - on my old man's side - and demon hunter by trade in my world. [He glances at the guitar case.] That there is part of my soul. Or something along those lines anyway. I'm not entirely sure. The rest of my story isn't for the faint of heart or kids.

[ She gasps loudly, clutching her wand more tightly in her excitement. ]

My boyfriend is half demon too! I know all about all that underworld stuff. Fire, lost souls, torture, spider hair accessories...

[ She thinks she knows all about it anyway. ]

[That gets a raised eyebrow.]

...I have a feeling he's pulling your leg on a few things. I've never seen a demon with spider hair accessories.

[That said, he's just going to let that line of debate go, as a server brings over a large New York Style deep dish meat lovers pizza with some olives and green peppers on it.]

Ah, here we go. Dig in, and enjoy yourself kiddo.

Well, it was supposed to be a gift for me, but I make my own hair things, so--

[ Interruption pizza is successful! She stares at it in awe for a moment, before suddenly squinting at it. ]

Wait, this is a circle!

[ She tugs the crust on her side, dislodging a piece. ]

Ohhhh, it BECOMES a triangle! Very clever, pizzasmith!

[ It takes her kind of longer than it should to figure out how to properly hold it to get it to her mouth without dumping the toppings everywhere, but she eventually manages it, and after the first bite, she sits in silence for a moment before finally looking across at Dante with wide eyes. ]

Pizza is... AMAZING! It's like nachos, but there's different sauce, and it's more than one shape, and all these little things on top, but it's squishy too!

[ She's trying to cram the whole slice into her mouth, so the next part is a little muffled. ]

Why doesn't everyone eat this all the time?!

[There are few things in life that are truly satisfying for Dante on a deep emotional level. This? This was one of those things.]

Welcome to Nirvana kiddo. Pizza is one of those things that is truly greater than the sum of its parts. Why people don't eat this all the time is a legitimately good question that I don't have an answer for.

[Dante reaches out and pulls a piece for himself, taking a bite, sighing in satisfaction with that bite.]

[This is one (1) confused as heck robot idol boy.

What... is he looking at...???]

Are your dogs... malfunctioning?

Huh?

[ She glances back at the puppies, and they're still scampering about being totally adorable water guns. ]

Oh, you mean the water? Nooooo, they're not broken! They're MAGIC!

[ She wiggles her fingers for emphasis. ]

I made puppies with laser eyes back on Earth, but I thought, 'Since it's hot maybe lasers would be a bad idea!' People don't really like it when you set a bunch of stuff on fire during your first day.

[Sorry. That's a lot of insanity to unpack all at once. He needs a minute.]

... No. No, they would not appreciate that.

I do not know if water gun puppies are an... improvement. I thought puppies were fine the way that they are.

[Kaoru just seems really confused about this whole post. Just... those are some strange puppies.]

I guess this world brings in a lot of different people. Hello there.

[ Wow, a SECOND cute guy messaging her? This place is definitely not as bad as some people's videos have tried to make it out to be. ]

Hiiiiii! [ She grins into the camera, giving a goofy little wave of her fingers. ] Isn't it great? I bet every day here is really exciting!

I haven't been here long enough to really say if it will or not. I just know adapting is really hard.

[Going from having a lot to not really having anything is a huge blow for him/ But he knows he'll get it... eventually.]

But who knows what the future will bring.
