1ST HUNT | Action/Video;

[now, tousuke's initial reaction upon coming here was that he had weirdly been knocked out by some sort of monster and had been transported here. he soon found out that wasn't the case, when suddenly a holographic girl began talking to him and he nearly smashed the girl to pieces. it scared him to see such technology, and he mostly looked to see how that even worked, rather than listen to her full spiel.

something something they were trapped here and there were others from worlds, something something.

he frowned at all of that, and soon set off on his own adventure!]

[the town itself was scary.

he found himself staring at every person that passed by, amazed by their sense of fashion, the way they talked, and how they didn't need to have a big weapon strapped to their backs. how were their defenses?! he was at a loss for words.

come to think of it, his palico never came with him.

ah well, he figured it was time for him to gather supplies and get himself settled. he could never stay in the city, and he spotted a forested area, so maybe he could stay there? it was worth a shot. so off he went! gathering up supplies with the little money he had initially received here. he got everything from a tent, to pots for boiling water, to firewood.

as he brought the massive bag of supplies over his shoulder, a log fell out of his pack and rolled down the pavement. he turned around, chasing after it.]

Wha- hey I need you! [was he calling out to the wood or to a nearby person? who knows really.]

[it didn't take him long to realize that city life wasn't going to work at all. he had made his way out of the city, heading towards the mountains. he needed to set up camp somewhere, get settled, and then maybe he would feel a little more at home. a little more like this could work out. it felt weird, though, not thinking about monsters and not knowing if there was even a need for a hunter. he didn't dwell too much on it however, he just needed to find a place to camp.

once he was out and into the mountains, he set up his tent, his supplies and his fire, and he sat down. there! he felt much more at ease. he doubted anyone would ever come and find him out here, so maybe he just... needed to let people know he was here?

he got up from his spot, put something into his slinger on his wrist, and shot it into the air. it was an SOS flare, and he wondered if anyone would come and see why he fired it. hey, it was just so people knew he was here and to maybe come check up on him? sure.]

[tousuke sat back as he waited for his traps to work. he had set traps all over the area, the ground and the trees were full of them. he needed to catch food! and maybe see if there were any monsters around that he could hunt.

once one of his traps were set off, he got up and ran towards the sound immediately. oh, it was one of his pitfall traps! the person (or monster) in question had fallen in, and the surrounded dirt had collapsed around them and secured them at their waist.]

Gotcha! [who knows if that's a good or a bad thing.]

Uh... hello. I'm just figuring out how to use this... thing. We don't have anything like this back in the New World, this is pretty freaky stuff. It's neat! But still.

[he grabbed his ale, putting the mug to his lips before he continued.] So, just letting everyone know that I'm Tousuke, a Hunter, and I've set up camp out in the woods around Fayren. I might move somewhere else... but I'll be here for now.

Anyone know of any monsters that need hunting?

Hmm~! Monster hunting? Is that a violent profession, or a violent hobby?

Ah, my job, yeah. But also just a lifestyle, I guess? We kind of have to do it to survive.

I see. Well! A number of the residents here probably look like 'monsters' to you, so I would refrain from hunting. You won't have to hunt to survive here, at any rate.

The.... residents are monsters? What do you mean?

Some people here are dragons, for example. If you kill them, you'll be a murderer.

[And if you kill one specific dragon, then Uai will become a murderer too! It's complicated.]

Maintaining peace with the native population also sounds to be a priority, so please don't mess that up just because you're bored.

You allow... dragons to live with you?! And how do they not eat you?!

[LOOK THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART]

Hmm... The same way that humans can choose to keep birds as companions, when they could just as reasonably fry them up?

The dragons we live with would never consider us a food source. We're different, but we can still live together. Is that really strange?

Just... yeah, it's kinda weird. Where I'm from it's eat or be eaten. And we eat a lot.

[he scratched his head at the thought.] ...I'm gonna have to reconsider my hunting, I think.

Have fun reconsidering, then! And of course, that's not to say your skills will be useless here. Someone I know works in a profession where she hunts and gathers ingredients for others. I think that business is in Fayren, so you should check it out. They might need someone like you.

Just be sure not to hunt anyone with a pendent.

Oh, I hunt and gather ingredients all the time! That was my main job back home. I guess that's where I can do me re-thinking.

Right, stay away from the pendent people. Or ...monsters? I guess.

[He doesn't have long to wait. Winter had just emerged from the river to dry off (the one thing she finds adequate about this damnable heatwave!) when she sees the crackling burst of red light arcing through the sky with a thick plume of smoke trailing behind it.]

[She recognizes an emergency flare when she sees one. Damn.]

[It means she has to forsake the usual ritual of making herself pristine and perfect. She dresses herself quickly, just enough that none would blush or accuse her of a lack of modesty: blouse, trousers, boots, sword. Then she's leaping onto the back of a summoned Nevermore and taking to the sky. Her sharp eyes skim the land below, and it isn't long before she spots Tousuke.]

[And nothing else? And nothing else.]

[Her eyes narrow. Why set off a flare if there's no emergency? Is he a bandit trying to lure in an unwary would-be rescuer? A clumsy buffoon who set the thing off on accident? A moron that went camping and got lost? It could be any number of reasons, and none of them include Winter giving him the young man any benefit of the doubt. When the bird comes down, she is not happy.]

What is the meaning of this? Why did you set off a flare? I demand an explanation.

[Her sword is already drawn, just in case this is the bandit scenario she's dealing with. She's not taking any unnecessary chances. Bad enough that her loose hair is still dripping from the ends in an untidy mess around her shoulders.]

[he saw the nevermore first before anything else, and with that he had already taken out his greatsword, ready to bounce. he was just about to swing at it when suddenly... a woman jumped off of it. he blinked, his greatsword's sharp blade now resting on the ground as he stared at her.]

...Uh.

[why was she all wet? oh well, no matter.] I needed to let someone know of my location in the mountains. You never know. I didn't actually tell anyone I would be out here.

Uu-WAH! RAoooooooooohh!!!

[Hana cried out, scared and now in a trap! She was trapped..in the ground? The ground was eating her! How could this be? -And oh no..she was in her Dragon form too.

People are going to be scared!

She tried rotating her wings within the dirt but it was no use, and her front paws were trapped against her chest and shoulders to move..she had no choice]

Help? He-- [then someone arrived]

G-..gotcha..?

[that was never a good response to a help]

[A MONSTER WAS CAUGHT PERFECT!!

tousuke came charging down the side of the mountain, sliding and jumping, rolling even as he landed and came towards the dreaded dragon. he was right upon her, his greatsword coming out and he was jsut about to strike when-

...wait did she speak?]

Did... did you say something? [talk to him or else he's gonna bring this thing down on her.]

Aaa--EE!

[Her fluffed head tried as much as she could to be close to her body. Perks to being a secret birb, #birblife #shortneckorlongneckwewillneverknow

but..he stopped? Hana opened one eye]

I..I.I...aaahhh....? Yes, yes, oh my goodness I'm so sorry for scaring you! I-I can't be a person for too long otherwise I g-get all craaamped, and my muscles get sore, a-and I won't be able to fly as well, b-but I don't want people scared! I am scary b-but..but I'm the opposite...a-ah..wah..

[..welp she started to cry] I'll try being a human a-and do my Guardian job as a human, promise, I'm sooooooo sorry...!! I shouldn't be scaryyy!!!

[he just... let his greatsword fall to the ground, the tip of the blade now etched into the dirt. he stared down at her, amazed, before he just blinked and shook his head.]

Am I hallucinating...? [it didn't seem like it. he put his sword away, strapping it back on to his back.]

No you didn't scare me, or anything, I just... I was really about to try and kill you. Don't cry-...

[Hana sniffled, still crying, but it slowed down at how she wasn't going to get slashed in half by the creature she adored most and protected all of her life on her planet

...irony sucks]

I didn't..? B-but you were going to kill me...

[her neck relaxed but laid herself to the side of the dirt] Ah..it's fine, though. I'm getting eaten by the Earth. [whimpering, she reasoned]

..I'd rather a human kill me, though, I would never want to attack a beautiful creature like you.

[oh... wow, this is the first time he's felt bad when he was about to kill a dragon-like creature. tousuke moved down closer to her, now squatting so he could see her eye to eye.]

You think humans are beautiful? [he wants to know more about this wonderful creature! as he asked that he nodded to himself, now helping to dig her out of the pitfall.]

Just keep squirming and eventually you'll be able to get out.

Wh..it won't eat me?

She wiggled a bit, and even from that bit, the dirt went off easily. Now she felt foolish]

Ah-good to know..heh.. [Hana sniffed]

But of course. You make tools, you make stories, and you made friends very easily with your knowledge. I mean they made this whooole place. That's very beautiful..

..you sure I don't scare you?

[and she was out of his trap! good good.]

You've never made anything? Not even a house?

Nah- you don't. I've seen muuuuuch scarier monsters than you. Try being face to face with Nergigante, he's a real nasty guy.

[Hana slithered out and just laid down before the man like a dog, but also trying to let her wings stretch and get the dust off of them]

A...house. Oh-like a shelter, of sorts? A dwelling? I haven't personally..My kind lives in caves and mountains that we dig out.

[she gave a sigh of relief] What's...a Nergigante? Oh-a-and what's your name?

Um... there, there?

[he petted her... head? he feels unsure, since he was so used to killing dragons and all.]

It's a maaassive Elder Dragon! He's really nasty. If he ever shows up here then there will be trouble. But it'll be okay! 'Cause I can handle him pretty easily. [he grins at the thought!]

My name's Tousuke. What's yours?

[Yes good, extra heart points for you, she loves that!

Hana perked]

A large old dragon? Oooooh..! Wow usually the big ones are the gentle and wise ones. Guess there really are other types of dragons out there!

[Smiling, the dragon wagged her tail a bit, grinning] Mister Tousuke~ I'm Hana~ It's a pleasure to meet you, and thank you for saving me from the ground monster~ And giving me your story!

[ Hamusuke was foraging for food and treats when she got caught by a pit trap. It would trap a bipedal creature, or something differently sized. Luckily for Hamusuke, hamsters were burrowing mammals. Her Bunnelby was much better at digging tunnels. They dug their way to freedom. Hamusuke shook the dirt off.]

Well, that was quite rude, that it was.

[ She says this in a huff.]

[and just when he thought he had something! it seemed to burrow out from the trap, but that was fine, tousuke would be at the ready. he had a flashpod in his slinger at this point, ready to fire it and blind the creature-!

...when it talked.]

How are you talking?!

[ Hamusuke gave the human a flat look. He tail was poised to attempt disarming him, if he attacked.]

I have always been able to talk, that I have. Why are humans and humanoids so surprised about this?

I have a pendant like others summoned to this world.

Because monsters don't usually talk!

[he blurted out, really.]

[ She puffs out her cheeks then pouts.]

Sapient ones talk.

[ She doesn't deny being a monster. Her Master is an undead monster, and highly intelligent.]

They can be quite eloquent, that they can. Humanoid races might not always understand their languages.

Okay.... do you know any other uh, sap-whatevers that can talk?

Here, any with a pendant. There are also natives, such as dragons.

Back home, I had many friends and comrades in Nazarick, that I did.

[She was one of the Three Monsters in the Forest of Tob, but she didn't pay attention to the others.]

[Athos was just idly strolling by when that errant log brushes against his boot. The musketeer arches his brow as he knelt down to pick it up completely unaware of the man chasing it. While Genessia is a rather odd city, Athos has done well enough to adapt to its oddities.]

...Is this yours? [He questions as he offers the log back.] I don't believe you're permitted to cut down trees here.

[This is a park after all. Not a forest.]

[oho! tousuke ran up to the guy, holding out his hand and waiting for him to give back the log.]

Oh, no, I didn't cut down any trees. I bought these, need them so I can set up camp in the mountains!

[He gladly hands back the log since he honestly has no need of it.]

You brought these in order to set up a camp? [Blink.] Why a camp?

[While he isn't certain of it yet, Athos senses that this fellow might be one of the new arrivals here at Genessia. Either that or an ardent nature lover who has yet to venture into Fayren. Whatever the reason, Athos's curiosity is piqued.]

Makes more sense to me than... finding a home in the city.

[the city isn't where he's supposed to be.]

It's just not comfortable for me here.

[That answer wins a nod of respect from Athos. He appreciates the honesty.]

Neither am I. Though, I seemed to do well enough in Paris prior to my arrival here. I used to love strolling down the busy streets.

[A wistful sigh escape him as he thinks of his homeland. He misses it.]

Maybe camping out in Fayren would suit you more. The forests there are tranquil.

Yeah- that's definitely where I'm headed to. I'm used to staying in a... headquarters of sorts, and hunting monsters.

[he adjusted the gear, feeling the weight of it now on his back.]

Where would you like to be? Ideally.

[exiting a nearby grocery store, bakugou was carrying a bag loaded with some medicine and food- particularly vegetables. what? one of them had to cook, and it wasn't going to be aizawa. he ignored the yelling like he ignored everything else, but as soon as the log rolled up to his feet he extended his free hand, the wood shattering into charred spikes and embers floating in its wake. RIP firewood.]

[rip his firewood... he watched it go up in flames and gasped as he ran over to bakugou.]

What the- why?! Or rather, how did you do that...?!

Do you want a personal demonstration?

[he glared up at the man.] Out of my way, Ponytail.

Ah...

[he stepped out of the way, but...] Sorry but you still owe me for that wood. If you give me some money then I'll leave you alone about it.

Why the hell should I pay for your shitty piece of firewood that you left in the middle of the road?

'Cause I dropped it and you ... just...

[he sighed, shaking his head.] You have some serious anger issues, bud. Maybe if you were a Hunter you could relieve some frustrations.

The fuck are you talking about? [He sneers.] Hah? You don't fucking know me.

No, but everyone likes to Hunt, right?
