Eighth Scoop: Interpretations [Video]
[ Neopolitan comes onto the screen, obviously recorded by someone else since her hands are empty, in her usual outfit. She stands in front of a large crowd with signs and angry faces. Some signs read "We deserve to be heard!", "Speak up for the Unspoken", and a few other signs in actual sign language. There is a microphone, but it seems to be set up for her device, since that's where the voice for her gloves comes from.
"We need a voice, and you need us because we basically pay your salary. These fine people are fed up with the lack of action from all cities when it comes to sign language interpretation. We can't rely on typing. It's not a logical medium to hold conversations with face-to-face. So I'm offering my services to interpret for all City Guardians and other high ranking officials during important press conferences and the like. We shouldn't have to wait hours, or even days, for an interpretation of what was just said during a live broadcast.
And let's face it: closed captioning sucks.
We won't stop just with sign language, but expand with Braille, too. We need just as much access to communications as those without disabilities."
There's applause, both audible and visual as Neo steps off her literal soap box. She'll rally in every city if she has to! ]

Great speech, you brought up really important points. Do you know where I could learn sign language?
Text
[ She definitely means the accidental ones or the ones that make Cassian flustered. ]
I'd say the internet? [ Why would he want to learn from an actual classroom when he can just download it? ]
Text
Ah, right. I didn't consider just downloading the data.
Text
[ The world doesn't need more PDA. ]
You've been around humans too long. Haven't you made any mechanical friends yet?
Text
[ Yes, yes it does! Gotta spread the love. ]
I had more androids friends at home, here there are that many with my same level of independence. There's L3, she's fun.
Text
Yeah, I just met her. She seems cool. We're gonna work together.
text
I wonder if they have technology in Nova that we could bring to other cities?
Do we have a school for sign language here? Maybe we should invest in that too...
text
Of course there's a class you can take to learn, but the problem is who actually wants to spend their precious time going?
no subject
I wonder how I would get started?
And if no one wants to go... There's got to be an incentive we could use. Hmm... I'd probably have to talk to someone who knows about this kind of stuff.
no subject
Well, I can always look for tech companies that want to try something new. When I find them, I can hook you up with them?

text
[ You had her at "funds"! ]
It can't be that hard to create sign language to text/speech, right? I have gloves that can do it, but they're specially designed for me to use.
text
I'd like to see those gloves. It sounds like interesting technology.

Text (i hope that wasn't to be the ACTUAL day >.>;; )
[ Neo will definitely arrive to the cafe, on time, and already sitting with a mocha with lots of whipped cream and chocolate sauce on top. If this person doesn't show up soon she'll have to order something else, or go somewhere to get ice cream and bring it back to the cafe. She idly looks at the gloves Mewtwo created for her, wondering how this random person could possibly recreate something like it. ]
action
There you are. Nice to meet you. Are these the gloves? May I see them?
action
Since she's wearing the gloves, Neo looks to them before looking back at the stranger. Straight to the point. That's definitely appreciated, but she can't help but be wary of anyone that wasn't Roman. Neo removes one and hands it to him, with a look of 'don't try anything funny'. ]
action
[He lifts up the glove]
Ahh interesting technology this... [he peers at it this and that way, not bothering to remove his sunglasses] Can you demonstrate them for me again?
action
"The lag between the signing and speech is pretty minimal." ]
action
You know if you implanted telepathic circuitry in that thing it would be near instantaneous.
action
"Does that involve cracking a few skulls open?"
If it's for the sake of science, she can help with that... ]
video
I hope you are going to make them pay you for your translation services.
video
"Of course! I don't do anything without a price." ]
Re: video
Good. I don't believe in rewarding people's laziness. That will just make them lazier. Are you an activist fighting for accessibility?
video
Which is quite easy to do.
"Besides, it's annoying having hardly anyone put in some effort to learn sign language. All this tech and we haven't gotten that far? Sounds like discrimination.
And a lawsuit."
Can she sue all the cities for discrimination? Neo is seriously pondering the idea. ]
Re: video
[ She pauses, processing. ]
I'm not sure what I can do, I don't know a lot about the laws here, but if you need help I'll help. Suing the government sounds fun!
video
She might have just made a new friend. :D Giving hell to the government with like minded people is always fun.
"I'm Neo. You got a name?" ]
Re: video
[ She gives a little two finger salute, head dome coyly tilted. ]
Nice to meet you, Neo. I say we meet up and plot when we have some free time.
