[So... Haga had found himself a job and a place to stay at the Honeybee. Who would have thought he would be doing such grown-up things in such a short time? He never imagined he would be living on his own and having to go to work and all that. It was a bit fun though, he had to admit. At least that kept his mind busy.

So busy, that he almost forgot about his 17th birthday. Luckily, he didn't, and decided that maybe he should ask a couple people to come to his house for a party. Also so they can come see where he's living.

He sends a short video to those he considers kinda close to him (like Rika and Hikari), so they can come to his house on the 21st to have cake, some soft drinks and, dunno... chat? Haga was never good at social gatherings. mostly because he didn't really participate in any back home. When was the last time he celebrated his birthday with people who aren't his parents anyway?

But, as it happens, rumors about the birthday party spread here and there, and, well, more people than Haga ever anticipated will start popping up at the door...]

((ooc: I made a post about it on the OOC community a while ago about this, but basically Haga is throwing what was supposed to be a small birthday party, but people heard about it and the promise of free food and more people than he expected are showing up and he doesn't have enough cake for all these people??? This post isn't "closed", but Haga thinks it is ahfgah))

[There isn't a lot inside Haga's house for the party. There's a cake and snacks lying on the table decorated with a festive tablecloth, along with plastic cups and bottles of fizzy drinks. There's a couple balloons and streamers here and there, but it's clear that Haga was on a budget.

His place at the Honeybee isn't big, so careful not to bump into each other too much!]

((ooc: use this post thing to like, talk to other people at the party and just jump around threads and whatnot! I'm doing this just for organization sake and so people know what's on the party, and that people can mingle easier. If you want to talk directly to Haga just comment on the post itself though.))

[It's necessary to pay attention to rumors in Ted's line of work, no matter how bogus. Most are, but he hardly had plans on a Monday anyway, so he may as well check things out. The grapevine didn't say it was invite-only...

Ergo, Ted steps in! He's certainly dressed for a party. Which is how he looks always: far too colorful. He's got a mood to match.]

Happy Birthday! I'll forgive the offense of not receiving an invite, lest I become as Maleficent. Who's it for? How old?

[Well, Haga is a little surprised by how many people showed up. He isn't exactly miffed about the fact that pretty much 90% of the people there don't even know him, surprisingly enough. In fact it's kinda nice to have his small place filled with people even if he doesn't know most of them.

And speaking of not knowing... this blonde guy talking to him is new too.]

Anh, hm, that would be me. It's my birthday. I'm turning 17. [A pause. It's kinda weird having random people say happy birthday to him.] Thank you for coming. [He may not sound like, but he's indeed thankful for everyone that showed up.]

I... didn't expect these many guests...

Ah! Well, congratulations, Haga! You look so young for your age, haha.

[I.e. ur short. But now that he has an idea of who the birthday boy is, having stalked his posts on the network and everything, he has a better idea of what gift to give. Just need time to think and dig around in his handy satchel.]

Huh. You didn't?

[Yup Ted. You're a party crasher. The shame]

Nice to have anyway, eh? Anything you coveted in particular for the occasion?

... Thank you. [He'll take as a compliment because Ted seems like a nice guy but really why everyone needs to pick on his size like this?]

Not really. I thought about four or five people would show up. [But apparently his private video message wasn't that private.] It's... certainly not bad though. Beats spending the birthday alone that's for sure. [He can't help but smile a little at that.

He tilts his head at the other question though.] Hm? Well, not really, no.

[What he really wants to notice is the unusual hair color and whether or not it's dyed, but holds off. For now.]

Aheh, does it? You struck me as a more hermetic...well, then again, suppose one who loves games as much as you would then love others to play them with, eh? Let's see...how about this?

[From his bag he produces a bottle of pungent cologne.]

For a present, I mean?

[He remembers that the name "Haga" has something to do with scents. Fingers crossed Haga's into that.]

[She heard there was a party, and she was all about parties and getting to know these people! Sayaka had picked out a gift, and was searching for the present table]

Ack, so crowded, ah oop! [Sayaka glanced over and spotted the small green-haired boy]

Oh hey, sorry there-wait..are you Haga?

[Another new face. Haga isn't even surprised at this point, but... he's surprised this one has a gift! Most of the people who showed up didn't really bring anything, although as weird as it is, Haga isn't particularly bothered by that. Having people around congratulating him for a birthday is a pretty neat feeling on it's own.]

Ah, yes, that would be me. [He offers the girl a smile.] ... And you are...? [Well, that's embarrassing.]

Ah what a relief.

[She sighed out and offered the present] I had seen a picture, only, but not really met you. I'm Sayaka Miki, Lifeguard and hopefully a Sword for Hire...one day.

[smiling, Sayaka laughed] So you enjoying the party? You're throwing a great one!

[The Cheshire Cat wasn't actually invited to this gathering - probably a good idea lest he start cutting things up again. Nevertheless, here he is climbing through an open window with a giant cake. Too bad no one clarified it was a Birthday party, so said cake has "A Very Merry Unbirthday To You" neatly iced along the side.

But ultimately it's the thought that counts, right?]

[It's that cat again, from the game shop. Chesire was the name, right? Now, Haga is a little surprised that he brought a cake with him. It does look pretty delicious, and he could use more food for his unexpected guests but... what does "Unbirthday" even mean?]

Thanks for coming...? [Is that really a good idea to be thanking this cat for showing up?]

[That cat is everywhere. It's one of the many benefits of being able to evaporate. Cat people don't tend to mind too much, but it's really not so great for those opposed to fluffy purple feline trolls.]

I would never miss a party! Merry Unbirthday!

[Yeah...he may have missed the memo though.]

... Don't you mean 'birthday'? [Haga asks, getting the cake and taking it to the table. He is sure he'll never understand why Chesire says the things he do, but he feels like he doesn't need to understand. He figures that maybe if regular cats could talk they wouldn't make much sense anyway.]

[Ches follows along, floating casually on his back, and pauses to give some of the soft drinks a curious sniff before responding.]

Of course not! An unbirthday isn't a birthday at all! That's why it's an unbirthday.

[Haga settles the cake down, a couple people near the table eyeing it with great interest. Despite the writing on the side of it, the cake did look pretty tasty, and Haga wondered just where Chesire got it. Hopefully it wasn't stolen.]

But... what is an unbirthday then? [Woudn't that be... all the other days of the year where you weren't born?]

[What a thing to wonder! Cheshire would never steal a cake! ~~He only steals the Queen's tarts so he can blame someone else for it.~~ This one was ordered from one of the many bakeries in Genessia, although he did briefly consider trying to bake his own - thank the gods he decided against that option.]

An unbirthday is like a birthday except it isn't a birthday.
