It's almost August. That means Summer ComiFes, or the Tokyo copy version will happen soon!
It's a super fun event full of doujinshi and cosplay for fans of anime, manga. video games and other parts of 20 to 21st Century culture.

I plan on attending. Does anyone want to join me?

[ She gives the actual date based on what she learned through visiting various otaku shops in the Tokyo Subarchway.]

Doujinshi? Cosplay?

Dounjinshi are fan comics, magazines or novels. They are generally self published works, often derivative, mostly by amateur artists.

Some pros got their start through dounjinshi.

Cosplay is short for costume play. People dress up as characters they like. Some are store bought, some are home made.

One of my friends back home has a boyfriend who's seriously skilled at making costumes.

Is it being held somewhere around here, or is there an archway that has it? We can go together!

It's mostly dounjinshi, but there are some displays of doujin games and a few developers advertising their new stuff.

You can see what kinda games are popular from which circles have the longest lines.

[She's tempted to go as her old crimefighting persona, Sailor V, but that might be taking a pretty bold risk. She doesn't want anyone making those kinds of associations or they might find out who she is.]

I guess I could go for that. It sounds fun!

There's plenty of outfits you would look super cute in.
