Who: Lioriley and Lancer of Black
What: two bros chillin in the library, five feet apart cause one has a stupid amount of mana and the other is a summoned hero.
Where: Genessia library because Lior is a one trick
Ratings: None??? for now???
[ The Genessia libary was large enough that, despite going there every day since her arrival, Lioriley had only barely scraped the surface of the contents therein. Hence why nearly every day after work, the Lunari would make her way there, plop down in a seat with a variety of books, and just stay there and read until the place closed.
She's there now, her stack of books slowly growing smaller by the hour. Eventually, sometime later in the evening, she finds her way to a section she hadn't focused much on before - reaching for a book just someone else does. ]
Oh! My apologies. Please, go ahead.

Perhaps inevitably, he's turned to what some might consider to be yet more work. He has so much to learn, between taking care of himself and adapting to a level of technology far beyond any he has seen. And where better to seek inspiration than the library, which is at least an establishment he holds some familiarity with.
It's already evening as he steps foot into the building, thoughts caught on what he might read up on this time. Which isn't to say that there isn't something that strikes him, a stray feeling this building evokes now and again but that he's used to tuning out because, after all, mages are no impossibility even back home.
With his gaze on the shelves, he's only aware enough of other people to not bump into them - at least, that is, before that feeling returns and stronger than ever, leading him to falter in his reach even before he realises another is interested in the same book he had been considering.
His attention, now, turns fully to the person next to him and while there's much in her features that can't be called familiar, there's no mistaking the thrum of an energy he hasn't sensed so strongly since his arrival. He lets his head incline in response to her apology, buying himself the time to craft a response that doesn't reflect his more immediate thoughts.]
You need not worry. It was a mere passing curiosity. If you have need of this particular volume, I would not take it from you.
[And after all, right now he's not sure he'd be able to focus with the current curiosity still turning in the back of his mind.]

She's going to have to take the chance. ]
More than I could say for myself. Simply the next in line for my reading list. [ She says with a smile, the lines across her cheeks brightening slightly with the upturn of her lips. The hand reaching for the book takes it now, but then promptly hands it to him; insistent. ] Please, I can always come back for it once you are done. And there are plenty of others that have captured my interest.

And so he takes the book from her, making the best of the excuse to get a better look at her. To his eyes, the lines that trace her skin are pure evidence that she has power enough that it cannot be contained beneath the surface; he's curious, and unable to help imagining what he might be capable of with access to such mana, but it's easy to put those thoughts aside when there is no prospect of war before him.]
Well then, I shall be sure not to take too long with it. I will let you know if it is worthy of your attention or not.
[True, their tastes may not be the same but quality always shows through and poor quality all the more so, at least he's tended to find.]
But it would be remiss of me to take from a lady without offering anything in return, though an introduction is all I have. You may call me Lancer.

[ She can't say she's particularly torn up about it; given how big this place is and how easily she could distract herself elsewhere. The Lunari doesn't really notice — if it's obvious at all — that he might be looking at her, or her leylines, longer than others might in any other situation. People stare, she's weird, she gets it.
A hand raises as if to dismiss the notion that he owes her anything — but drops a second later when he says all he has is a name. That's fine, she can accept that. And since it's only fair; the elf bows at the waist, a hand over her heart in a habit that will surely never break, even here. ]
A pleasure, Lancer. My name is Lioriley. [ She smiles as she straightens again. ] Though would surely not call it a 'repayment', I am always curious about those that I meet here. Perhaps, if you are not busy we could simply talk?

[He offers a small bow of his own in return, not quite so deeply - he's rather more accustomed to being bowed to - but respectful all the same.
He hasn't intended to take up any more of her time than that, despite his curiosity. All the same, if she is to invite conversation herself, he doesn't really have it in him to refuse. It isn't as though a book can take offence to being sidelined for a time.
It will be as good or otherwise, whenever he gets around to it.]
Certainly, although perhaps it would be best if we removed ourselves from where we might disturb others. I believe there is a coffee shop of some description in here somewhere?
[He's never been but he figures that's going to be the least disruptive option, especially since he figures it might seem suspicious if he outright suggests they leave the library completely.]

[ She motions back to one of the tables not far from them, a corner of it filled with books and journals she had been taking notes in. Assuming he would oblige her, she hurries over to it and starts to gather some of the books up, placing them on a cart nearby for the librarian to take care of properly when they come around. The assortment is seemingly random — architecture of 15th century Earth, religious beliefs of some world she's never heard of, local legends of something something planet, and a few romance novels scattered in between.
Afterwards, she tucks the journals into a little saddlebag and slings it over her shoulder, smiling to Lancer as she turns toward him. ] After you.

Once she's done, he smiles but steps back to allow her through first; a King he may once have been but he still holds to the manners of his era.]
Please, I insist. It would seem you know this place better than I, after all.
[And if he makes it practical as well, perhaps she won't protest this time.]

Lioriley, while a social creature at heart, has not been to the shop all that much. And while it is not particularly noisy, it is distracting enough for someone that is trying to focus on so many things at once. That, and the tables are far too small to hold all the books and supplies she needs for a daily run to the library. Still, it's not a bad place. The atmosphere is nice. Warm, inviting. A good spot to sit and talk.
After setting her bag on a table, she turns toward him. ]
I can order us drinks if you would like! Do you have a preference?
no subject
This, then, is a haven of relaxation within a building made for study. Fortunately, it is not so busy that they struggle to find a table to claim. His gaze turns to the counter - as fitting for the space it occupied, it was small and seemed limited in its offerings. Not somewhere one would come were they not already in the library, then.
He turns his attention back to Lioriley at her offer, inclining his head in near-consent.]
Only if you will allow me to pay. As to preference, I have been expanding my tastes in coffee since arrival. Beyond that, I will trust myself to your judgement.

The caramel machiatto is very good. [ She says, stupidly. Eventually composing herself. ] Are you certain you wish to pay? It is no trouble.

[He moves to press some reds into her hand, casually as though he hasn't just turned her words around on her. It isn't as though he spends much, though he has it in mind to visit a tailor at some point to expand his wardrobe some.
Still, a couple of coffees aren't likely to derail that plan too far and this, ultimately, is what he's good at - dispatching others on errands funded by his own coin. He'll even settle into one of the seats, once he's sure she's got hold of the money, in promise that he will interfere with her desire to place the order no further.]
Well, then. I leave myself to your judgement.

As the bills are set in her hand, there's a spark of faint energy should his fingers happen to graze any of the lines that curve around her fingers. A magical jolt that dissipates just as fast as it came — and she doesn't seem to notice as she pulls her hand back and nods. ]
Of course. I will return shortly.
[ And with that she heads to the counter, orders the coffees ( caramel machiatto with cream?? god she hopes he's into that ) and some fruity tea nonsense for her. Nothing particularly exciting, but good enough to sip on while they talk. She returns, setting his drink and any change down in front of him with a smile. She seems to have composed herself for the time being as she settles into the seat across from him, legs crossed. ]
Now then. Would I be correct in assuming you are new to the city, or have we simply not had the pleasure to run into one another until now?

It lends an extra curiosity as he watches her head for the counter, though his gaze soon turns to the rest of their surroundings as even in this, he thinks better of letting his gaze linger over-long. Only as she returns to their table does he turn his focus back to her, and the mingled scents of fruit and something sweeter that rise from their respective drinks. He tilts his head with a simple thank you as his own is set before him, and he's faced with something he's pretty certain he wouldn't have ordered of his own accord.
Which is not necessarily a bad thing. One thing he's learning here is that if ever there was a chance for him to expand his boundaries, this is that chance. At least, it will be - for now, he's happy to let his drink cool as he picks up the conversation.]
I suppose to some I would still be considered new. I believe it has been almost a month since I was brought ashore here but in that time there has been much for me to learn before I could truly avail myself of the free time I appear to have here.
[He speaks of free time as almost a novelty, certainly something he isn't much accustomed to - even in the lulls where a Grail War was not imminent, there had still been much planning and consideration to be done. That he exists to answer to no-one but himself is very much a new experience.]
And what of yourself? Certainly you carry the air of one who is very much at home in this space.
[Which he can understand. Give it time and he's not ruling out that he'll be the same.]

She takes a few sips of her drink, humming thoughtfully as she thinks over her reply. Honestly? She doesn't remember how long it's been now. Long enough to lose track of time — but considering all the shit that's happened recently, how much time she's wasted working or hiding in the library, it's not all that surprising. ]
Half a year, perhaps? Something akin to that. I have come to find that adapting is much easier if you embrace this place for what it is — a new world to explore and learn about, something different than what you are used to. There are ... interesting things to see in Genessia. And plenty of people to meet.

[There might be a flicker of something meaningful in his gaze as he reaches for his coffee, sipping slowly so as to allow his palate to adjust to the sweetness. Still, it's not something he comments on, keeping to more neutral conversational grounds.]
I suppose therein lies the beauty of having each city with its own distinct identity. I would imagine whatever one's home is like, they may find both the familiar and the new...although some adventures take a little easing into, I've found.
[From personal experience, given his uneasiness regarding much of Nova City.]
