( When the feed switches on, the first thing you'll hear is the sound of a phone clanking against the ground and echoing against the cavern walls. The picture stills-- yet remains out of focus, until it seems the phone has been picked up, showcasing the image of a surly older man with black hair, presumably in his late 20s. He gives a grunt of disapproval when he sees his image in the camera, and the picture begins to shake as he appears to fiddle with the buttons.

Finally, the feed shuts off. )

[ b. action, cat's eye cafe ]

( This one isn't particularly talkative, nor does he intend to be. Regular patrons may notice he only speaks with the wait staff briefly and concisely, whenever he needs a refill on his tea or orders another slice of cake.

That said, it doesn't appear Kiritsugu means to leave soon, either. Gathering his bearings and all, his eyes scan over the pamphlet for a third and fourth time meticulously, as if he were plotting out a strategy, still halfway in disbelief that he was even here.

He does look rather new, though. Perhaps he could just use some help? )

[ New arrival, someone who is about as bad or worse with technology as Rin was when she first got here...? Not that she has improved much and she still doesn't like any of the machines or devices much but apparently she is in a mood when this happens on her feed. This starts with a huff. ]

[In Kiritsugu's contemplating, a man in a red jacket carrying a guitar case will walk over to him and put a pair of Strawberry Sundaes on the table. One for him, one for Kiritsugu, before flopping into a seat across from him.]

You should really try the Strawberry Sundaes here. The devil himself would kill for these.

[Fine, let's go with voice. That always feels better than seeing tiny people in this tiny box anyway.]

Some start with their name, others begin with asking if this place is as bad or great as their home depending where they come from or ask the same boring questions as almost everyone who come here anyway... And some start with some random questions for a more or less nice change. Some just waste others time by not saying anything.

[ ... Let's not talk about her intro where she tried to make Archer do the whole thing for her and not bother with it herself at all. ]

( Well, excuse him for dropping his phone!! )

( He means, the pamphlets will tell you everything if you just... read. But sure, he'll humour her and give her a name!! )

If you're looking for a name, well... Kiritsugu Emiya.

[Archer recognizes the man. Even when he's this much younger, it's hard not to, all things considered. Oooh boy. ~~At least it's not the other Emiya.~~]

( Meanwhile, Kiritsugu has no reason to recognize the voice. Thus, Archer is met with his nonchalant, biting sarcasm. )

[Most of the time Rin lets Archer let her know if something interesting happens on the network, sometimes the mage checks it herself.

Hearing his name feels as if someone dropping a bucket of ice cold water on her. That name... Coincidence? No, possibly not, but too early to tell in a world like this for sure. Rin is quiet for a long time or what feels like that to her anyway while she's trying to figure out what to say to that. ...What the hell would anyone say to that??]

[Just checking out of curiosity, right? Coincidences going all around here while knowing that he could lie if he answers the question.

Wrong idea about her leaving him alone after hearing that name. She will, later, her own Emiya is in another ~~castle~~ world even though she's here with the twisted jerk version of him but that's Archer, or that's what she'll keep calling him.]

[He can't and doesn't really want to say where he knows him from. That would just be too confusing for now. Besides, he's still waiting for Rin to figure it out and say who he is out loud.]

( His response should enough to convey the answer to her question, even if he hasn't answered her outright. )

[Answer like his is indeed enough to say that he's an Emiya from the same world as her. Enemy? Well if he doesn't hang up anytime soon, maybe they can talk about that. ...Meanwhile she doesn't dodge introducing herself this time.]

( His response is a rather immediate one, although his urge to up and hang up on her is strong. He might have, um, just discovered Tokiomi's death some moments before his arrival, so this might not be the greatest moment to be engaging with the Tohsaka heir.

On the OTHER hand, given her recording earlier, she looks much older than she ought to. So. Consider his curiosity piqued, for now. )

You wouldn't be the first.

( ...Is all he has to say. He's figured out that much, considering the age of the Tohsaka girl. What troubles him, is if he can trust the man on the other end. What will his future even be like? Does he even make it through the Grail War?

He doesn't dare ask these questions, even as they swirl through his brain. )

I'll take that as I'm not the first Tohsaka, who you're running into.

[Not here, she knows she's the only one here or if there are more, Rin wouldn't know about them yet. It reminds her of Kirei's reaction on hearing Shirou's last name for the first time, what a coincidence.]

( Rin, he's not one for small talk. He isn't going to waste his time answering questions she already knows the answer to. So instead: )

Do you know how the Fourth Holy Grail War concluded?

( Because he doesn't. But he has a sneaking suspicion as to who killed her father. )

I'm sure there are still important details, that I don't know about that time even though I've heard about it in the last ten years... [She's so tempted to ask so many or at least some questions.]

But I know the fifth one's going to end in me winning it.

[That's to say that yes, she's indeed one of the Masters in it if there was even any doubt of that. ... Not that Rin's here from anywhere near the time of its ending but she's in it to win it and nothing's going to stop her.]

( And yet, somehow, she's told him everything he needs to know in a single sentence. His dream of humanity's salvation, to create a world without conflict? Dashed. And what of Irisviel or his daughter? Last he remembers, Iri had been kidnapped.

His end of the line goes silent for a long moment. )

Tohsaka, your father would have been Tokiomi, or am I mistaken? Would you happen to know who assassinated him?

( To him, the act comes off as a bit perplexing. He wasn't used to random acts of kindness like this, and for a moment, stares at the sundae as if it were about to explode.

Kiritsugu was not, however, one to turn down free food. So after so pause, takes a bite from his spoon.

The way you've got everything spread out here, looks like you've got a lot you want clarified.

(Look Rin, he didn't want to make any assumptions about where she fit in on the Tohsaka family tree, but unlike her, he basically knows who she is-- even if only through reputation. )

Out of the four remaining masters from my time, I've narrowed it down to two possibilities: Kariya Matou, or Kirei Kotomine.

( He states this fairly plainly, without any hesitation to it. Nevermind that he's talking to the aforementioned daughter, or that this appears to be a point of burning reference for her. He'd been contracted to kill in this war. It simply came with the territory. )

Yes, you just talked with my Master on the fifth Holy Grail War. I'm her Archer-class Servant.

[Not making assumptions is a pretty good way to go... Rin's quiet for a long time, almost like she hangs up for a moment but the line stays open while she collects herself and her thought after hearing that.

...So, one of those two? Matou would have reasons but Rin also has her reasons to believe, that it wouldn't be him.

Kirei on the other hand -- he's always been suspicious, no? All the way from how she could tell even as a seven year old, that she really can't like him at all and didn't trust him even back then. So, what .... Her life's just a game to him for one reason or another, amusement or whatever? Not that that even surprises Rin at all as it shouldn't, when the shitty priest has been faking more than just his priest stuff from the beginning. Hahaha, where's the beginning, really? From the day her father died? Earlier? Much earlier? Somehow everything makes sense with that option, unless she really just wants to tell herself that it wasn't someone who she considered as someone like uncle to her and Sakura very early in her life. Could be that or could be because of it that Rin doesn't (want to) believe he would do it.

After a long silence, she finally speaks again.]

... Well then, let me narrow it down for you even more by saying that if you're sure it was definitely one of those two, then I say it was Kirei Kotomine. There, solved it for you.

[She feels like screaming, too bad that her target for it is far away from here and she has reputation to keep here anyway. Stay cool and calm, Rin, network isn't the place to let all the feelings about that out.]

( In his opinion, that's a pretty harsh assumption-- yet, not an unwarranted one. To his knowledge, Tokiomi had still been protecting Kotomine at that point. Logically, he would have had had the most opportunity.

Even knowing what he did about Irisviel's disappearance, that Kariya was definitely involved, the priest still seemed to be the mastermind in all this. )

I wouldn't disagree with that assessment. ( He doesn't have much more to add there. But. ) Tohsaka, would you be averse to meeting with me?

( If she has reason to distrust Kotomine, then it's probably worth sitting down to have a conversation with her-- to see where their timelines add up. )

It wasn't outside the realm of possibility, but it was disconcerting to him to hear that there would be another grail war so soon after his own. )
