[ he found it. he had aimed to find something similar, not something that bore a near-exact resemblance to the one he discarded at lake laogai, and that marked the first time he'd stolen something since ba sing se. zuko had worked hard at living an honest life in genessia, but this was something he couldn't do honestly. so he stole — he stole the mask and the means to piece together an outfit that would cover him from head to toe, and a pair of twin katana to strap to his back in place of his own swords (too recognizable).

[ the masked figure on the screen says nothing, blank black eyes staring at the screen. it raises a gloved finger to its mouth as if shushing the viewers, holding the pose for far longer than necessary. and just like that, it's gone, the feed disconnected. ]

[ He felt some pulse but he wasn't as perceptive as some of the nonhuman things that existed. ]

When you first arrive, people saw you with your mask. They might assume this masked person is you. Though your body is, well, larger..[She said glancing at his shoulders and pectorals. He certainly gained a lot of muscle mass from the time they were together when she was still living. [ he replied, seemingly unamused with that thought. He was not someone who would wear such decorative pieces of clothing or mask. his mask was simply to hide his face, and they were every bit terrifying as he was. ]

[She nods and places a hand over his mask. A gentle touch, though she was sure it would be hard to feel it from under his mask. Still, it was a loving gesture. Kurei didn't choose such elaborate masks, just meaningful ones. She knows it well. However, she knows not everyone knows about that.
Then a smile dawns on her face. As if he could ever order her, or even request from her to stop worrying.]
Kurei. Even if you are the most powerful person in all the world, I will always worry about you. I will always think of your safety and your happiness.

[ Because he kept himself in the dark and kept his business to himself. He had not reason to start fights with people. The only person he threw around was Rekka. ]
That is unnecessary, as much as it is the truth, Kurenai. You need not stress over such trivial matters.

She was just very thankful that Kurei had the ability to defend both of them. Happier still that no one in this place can use her as a target.]
Your safety is not trivial to me. [She had a gentle expression, whilst she extended a hand towards him. Her pale fingers brushed his hair lightly. Her tone was very serious whilst she said her next words.] I don't want anyone to touch you or harm you, ever.

[ The shinobi replied seriously. He would not expose her to danger if he could help it. Kurenai was someone he treasured, and someone he would lay his life down for. He was not going to let her get hurt because of him or because of what he was doing. He was human but he couldn't possibly be called that sometimes because of his personality and what he was capable of. ]
Kurenai you are not required to do anything. That is not something you have to do.
[ He replied brushing his hands against the ones that were brushing against his hair. ]

[Her nose crinkled at the thought. He really was a person whom Kurenai could trust to protect her, always. She just wanted to do the same. She wanted nothing else to ever pain Kurei, ever.
She just kept her hand steady as she enjoyed the warmth of his hands.]
I want to. I'm not sure how, but I will. So you can also depend on my help when you need it.
[At the time, it was only the two of them. Uruha was nowhere in sight. She had to do something, anything.]
