[You know, Athos was never good with technology the last time he was here. He distinctly remember shouting for his companions blindly within the dark of this cave while mentally swearing the entire time. He was absolutely drenched by the time he made his way from the Bay, crossed and vexed at the same time. However, now things are different as the musketeer awakens yet again in this dreary dark cave.

It's a little dark on screen since Athos as yet to make his way out yet. Although, some might be able to make out his silhouette if they squint. He's without his hat this time but certainly still dressed in the same blue-black leather he worn prior. Of course his sword is somewhere on him along with his many muskets but that's all hidden.]

...Is it common to be thrust back like this?

[A rhetorical question at best since he's not certain if this device is recording or not. Athos isn't very tech savvy. He's from the 1700s after all.]

Or is it all just a figment of my imagination? If so, I...I don't think I can tell the difference anymore.

[He falls silent for moment, his green eyes searching for anything that seems familiar.]

It all blurs together.

[Now this is an unfamiliar face. Once Athos steps into the light, he glances back down at the screen with a somewhat sympathetic expression.]

It gets better in due time. [He answers quietly.] I've learned to suspend my disbelief the last time I was present here.

I suppose I shall do so again now that I've returned.

I've been here for a few days now. It still feels like a dream.

Only a few days? [He sighs out of pity.] I've been in your place not too long ago.

Everything about this world feels like a fantasy but...it isn't.

[The musketeer places the phone down beside him, quickly looking over his armaments as he continues.]

It's all real, all true. Even the spooks and horrors.

I'm not sure if I like that...

Better to have a dream than a nightmare, right?

This place can be as pleasant as any dream. [He says in a vain attempt to be encouraging.] It's just that every dream has its nightmares following close behind.

[He paused for a moment as he peers back into the screen again.]

What's your name? I'm afraid that I don't remember you from last time.

[He makes a face at that, almost a cringe. There are nightmares just beyond the reach of his memory right now. He shudders before picking up the thread of the question.]

What? Oh. I'm Peter.

[Athos is quiet for a moment as he watches Peter. He can tell that there's something haunting the man, something dire. While he's not one to judge, Athos certainly hopes none of those nightmares will come to haunt him here.]

Well met, Peter. I'm Athos.

Yes, I have. [His lips quirk upward in a smirk.] It was quite the adventure.

I suppose that's one way to think of it.

Careful; doubt your senses now and it's only a matter of time before you're totally mad and claiming to be a poached egg. To answer your question: no, but not unheard of either. Welcome back, Athos.

[Athos' expression stiffens some along with the rest of him.]

Your concern for my sanity is oddly discomforting despite your efforts.

[That's because this little cuss here attempted to drive Athos mad once before.]

[Lies and slander, Frenchy. Ted never tries to drive people insane. It's purely incidental.]

Ah! You remember! I'm so glad. I do too, if that grants parity of happiness.

[It probably won't. Maybe if he made fun of him?]

Alas, I've not the soothing power of drink, haha.

[He notes the other thing Athos loves is silence, but they both know that's not happening.]

I would be happier staring down a bottle of wine.

[He grumbles under his breath. Honestly, he's in no mood for this pest but Athos should be kinder. Ted means no harm, right?]

Tell me, has Genessia remain unchanged?

[All the jokes he wants to make involve bringing up a past Ted shouldn't know into stark relief. His smile curls out of polite suppression.]

Yes, I'm afraid.

[He says it as bad news gently given, but at least things haven't gotten worse. He hopes.]

More of the same, as far as this place goes. There's a plague of non-sentient ghouls loose in Everglade, if you happen to pass through. Don't hesitate to kill if you're attacked - these things are nasty. I don't suppose you have a silvered blade? I've got some at the shop...
