25 ☼ Action [Backdated to 28th September]

Action in Attleton
[She said she was going to look high and low in this city when she was working and helping others, or in Genessia doing other things and it was a goal she was going to do no matter what. However, she didn't want to make it too obvious that it was her. So after much researching and learning a little bit about superheroes and disguises. The young woman decided to make her own costume and search for her that way... and maybe help people and stop crimes too if she was lucky.

So when Rapunzel had managed to complete it within a couple days, she was soon dressed in her new costume and was heading out, using her hair to swing and climb to high places to take a look to see if she could find any sign of the person she was looking for.

She seemed rather focused on getting around that she didn't realize people might be staring at her weird.]

Action in Genessia
[Rapunzel had been on the look out as usual, but she couldn't help but notice something going on out of the corner of her eye. There appeared to be a man pulling at a womans handbag while the woman appeared to br holding on to it for dear life. After a quick moment the guy soon goes to knock the woman to the floor in the hopes that she would let go, but her grip was like iron.

Rapunzel had seen enough.]

Hey! Leave that woman alone! [The moment Rapunzel had spoken up, the guy had left the bag and ran. Rapunzel took the time to quickly run over.]

Don't worry, I'll make sure he is captured...then I'll come back and heal you right up.

[And with that she starts to run after him, making note for where to come back as soon as she got him. Unbraiding her hair she threw it to tangle up on something to use to swing, making her move faster than it had been before. She as slowly gaining ground, slowly catching up. Thankfully he was't as fast as she had expected and soon she was grabbing her trusty frying pan she paused to take aim, soon going to throw it to the back of the guys head, knocking him over.]

Got him! I didn't honestly think that was going to work. [She soon made her way over a small confident smile on her face.]

So you thought you could run away from the great... Um... [She didn't want to say her actual name...so she thought of a name off the spot.] Blood... Frying Pan... That's not a good name. [And for the moment she is going off into a small talk to herself. Thankfully the guy was outcold to really pay much attention.] I mean blood is intimidating, but it doesn't work. Oh! Blood Justice is better. You were defeated by Blood Justice.

[And she seemed happy about it before looking around.]

Excuse me. Can I have a moment of your time?

[Satou doesn’t even go here!! But she felt obligated to help with any sort of crime, regardless of the city. Right as she was about to kick into gear and do something, Satou slams on her brakes. The sight of a costumed hero taking down the bad guy is a strange one... Eapecially when she recognizes that voice.

She stares in confusion, not sure how to address Rapunzel—- Then jumps in surprise when addressed.]

Ah, yes! What can I do for you!?

[Well, that hair makes it very obvious who this is. Neito didn't know Rapunzel had an interest in heroics.

Since she has a quirk and apparently is fairly adept at weaponizing cooking utensils in non-lethal ways, he's not going to question or discourage it. But...that name.
]

Of course. Are you trying to pick out a hero name?

[He doesn't quite have the heart to tell her that even with that frying pan, she's about as intimidating as a fluffy bunny. She's trying, and she wants to help others. Still, if he can help her pick something that's a little more suited to her, he'd like to do that.]

A hero name doesn't need to be intimidating. No matter what your hero name, villains should dread running into you because you're a capable hero.

[He tries to think of some pro-hero names that aren't intimidating and sets on one that stands out above all others.]

There is one pro-hero named Ms. Joke. Her name isn't very intimidating at all, but she's effective at catching villains. Her quirk is to make people uncontrollably laugh, so she's very talented at taking people down without injuring them unnecessarily.

It's uncommon but allowed for a hero to use their usual name. One of the students in Bakugou and Midoriya's class used his first name as his hero name.

[Which was weird, but given that the boy in question was the son of one of the highest ranked heroes in the country, he supposes it might have been some desire to get out of the man's shadow and go in a different direction. He doesn't know Todoroki well enough to know for sure.]

It doesn't even have to be related to your quirk. For you...perhaps a name like Sunshine, or Golden Hope. A hero name suitable for someone kind and welcoming.

Because I'm clever enough to have determined your civilian identity.

[Not that it was the least bit difficult considering that long mass of blonde hair.]

Pro-heroes in my world don't generally worry about maintaining a secret identity so much as their hero names and costumes are simply for determining when they're on the job versus going about their business as a civilian. My costume doesn't even hide my face, for example.

Your costume is quite nice. If it wasn't for your hair, I might not have guessed your identity.

[He doesn't want to be needlessly harsh about it, but if she honestly was hoping to maintain a secret identity, perhaps a gentle reminder of her most distinctive feature is in order. There's no mistaking her.]

I was wearing mine when I arrived, actually.

[That suit with coattails that he showed up in? Yup, that's his costume.]

In many cases, costumes are designed to accommodate a person's quirk in some way. Mine doesn't require that, so I went for aesthetics instead.

It's my pleasure.

[Really, he means it. Not only is he helping to support someone's interest in something he's working toward professionally, but it lets him show off his knowledge and gives him a tiny ego scratch.]

Aizawa-sensei would have the best advice of all when it comes to being a hero, since he's a fully licensed pro-hero and teaches at hero school. But I'll certainly do my best to answer your questions and help guide you along.

It's something in my world. By making it an official profession someone has to get formal training and a license for, it ensures standards, and that well-meaning but untrained people aren't unnecessarily putting themselves at risk.

[She does seem pretty handy with that frying pan, and he's vaguely curious if she uses other cooking implements in combat as well. A sturdy metal spatula could be used to clothesline an opponent, he supposes...]

If you're interested in being a hero, Aizawa-sensei has been planning on starting up a hero training course here. He's already continuing the training of students from UA and he's taken on a few students from other worlds on a part time basis.

A little, but it's a much more involved process than Nova City's registration.

[He's not sure how physically strong Rapunzel is, so he's ready to help with lifting the man. He'll even take on the bulk of the weight. She'll have to steer, though, given that she's restraining the guilty party using her hair.]

Combat, control and effective use of your quirk, strategy, how to handle emergency situations...there's a variety of things.

[personal profile] plagiarisms 2018-11-10 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, much more. First, there's the entrance exam. They only let in forty students into the hero program every year. You have to pass both a written test and a combat scenario exam, although points can be gained both from defeating the mechanical opponents they have prepared, or by rescuing people. So those who don't have combative quirks aren't automatically disqualified.

[Which is good because his is only as combatively useful as the quirks of the people around him.]

Then when in the hero course, everyone gets an internship after a while, and eventually people take the provisional license exams. A provisional license allows you to take on some more active hero duty under the supervision of a fully licensed hero. Students are eligible to take them in first year, but it's more common for people to pass in second year.

The usefulness of my quirk depends on who I'm around. I can copy other people's abilities for a short time.

[Which is fairly useful and highly adaptable, but if he's not around people with useful quirks, he really has to get creative with them.]

Occasionally things don't go as planned, but hopefuilly by that point, you've learned enough from your teachers and your heroic mentors to handle yourself well in an emergency.

I'm not completely sure of how it works with quirks from other universes, but there's one easy way to try.

[He holds up his hand.]

Here, just give me a high five. If it's going to work, all it takes is a moment of contact with someone.

[He's not completely confident in what he's learned, especially after the attack during his class trip. The League had some dangerous villains.]

Now you'll have to teach me the song you sing to activate your powers.

[He's fairly certain he has managed to copy her powers, but there's only one way to be absolutely certain. And if he can copy them, that will be useful for healing people when an emergency situation comes up.]

[personal profile] plagiarisms 2018-11-27 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
[Don't mind him, he's very quickly scribbling down the words to the song so he'll remember it.

Can you hum it now? Theoretically, if speaking the words rather than singing them is enough to not activate it, then humming should work similarly.

[personal profile] plagiarisms 2018-12-09 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
All right. Let's see how it goes.

[This is the first time he's tried to copy an ability that's not from his own world, after all.]

Flower, gleam and glow, let your power shine.
Make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine.
Heal what has been hurt, change the Fates' design.
Save what has been lost, bring back what once was mine. What once was mine.

[He manages to sing it pleasantly enough and given how short his hair is compared to his, all of his hair is glowing after the first line of the song. It's a little strange to see his hair glowing, but his bangs hang down enough that he's able to easily see the glow.]

Seems it worked.

My hair would have to touch the person's injuries in order to heal them, right?

[That's the main drawback that he can see. It works fine for her, since she has so much of it. With him? It's going to involve some very awkward positioning since his hair isn't that long. He'll essentially have to lightly headbutt someone's injury while singing.

Still, it's good to know in case there's ever a lot of people who need healing. He can high five her and contribute.

If they touched my hair with their hand, but had...a broken ankle, for example, would it work? Or would my hair have to touch their ankle?

[His comprehension of abilities he copies tends to be fairly intuitive, but it's still not the same thing as being able to ask someone who's had the ability their entire life.]

If you want to learn the full extent of your abilities, may I suggest getting a part time job at the hospital? Tell them what you know you can heal for sure, and I can't see any reason why they would hesitate to hire you on. Then you can use it as a learning opportunity, you can help others, and you can make some extra income.

[It seems like the most logical course of action to him.]

[He knew she was a kind person before, but this surprises him to some extent. Yes, he will help others from time to time without expecting monetary compensation, but using powers for the good of others is hero work, and he sees it as another branch of emergency services. It would be absurd to not pay an EMT or a firefighter, after all.

Still, he's not going to push her toward something she's uncomfortable with.
]

Perhaps some volunteer hours instead, then? You could tell them that you're only available for a few hours per week.

I was on my way to get a haircut, actually.

[Pretty boring, really, but his bangs were starting to get too long and he needed a trim before he started looking scruffy.]

I was just going to go in as a walk in, so I'll help you get them to the police and then be on my way.

[From anyone else, he'd consider this a bizarre question. But considering the length of Rapunzel's hair, it's evident that she's never had a haircut in her entire life.]

Well...they'll generally wash your hair or at least spray it so that it's wet when they cut it. That ensures that they can cut more evenly and tidily. Then they'll blow dry the hair once it's dry and perhaps put some hair spray in to keep it neat and in one place.

action.

[He is keeping a straight face about it. It's kinda hilarious. Blood Justice? Girl! Seventeen just watches the action until she raises the question to him.]

Sure, what's up?

[He is so playing along with this.]

[Oh gosh, he is just grinning at this.]

So you're asking random civilians to handle a couple thugs?
