Faye in the Fall - Video and Action Options
[video]
*It had taken Faye a few days to get round to making this video, thanks to a particularly hurtful fall out, and to the upsetting things said about her on that anon post. Still, Faye now had a job to do, so here she was, posture straight, looking very business-like. What is especially new for Faye is her outfit, one she had put together to reflect her new job. The hat is her favourite part of the outfit, an indication that she is someone worthwhile*
My name is Faye Valentine, and I'd like to introduce myself as a new Deputy Guardian of Nova City.
*There was a genuine smile then - small, but real - because she really is excited about starting this new job, hopefully a promising improvement on her life here*
It is important to me that the residents and visitors of Nova City are safe - please feel free to contact me if ever you feel that your safety is being jeopardised, and I will do my best to help.
[action - Nova City patrolling]
Faye has spent the past two years living in Nova so she is pretty used to the streets, but now that she is deputy guardian, she wants to get to know it better. She moves her shifts to get to see the city at all times of day - sometimes walking in the early morning, sometimes late at night, and sometimes strolling around during the daytime hours. If she sees anyone in trouble, she'll approach to help and, more to the point, if she seems someone causing trouble, then she'll be there to immediately check the situation. No doubt she will meet all sorts as she does her rounds.
[action - down time drinking]
After a long shift of patrolling, Faye is ready for a drink and a relax. To do so, she will take herself to a bar for a drink and a smoke, time to think and unwind. If she has been in Nova all day, she'll likely stay there for a drink in the evening, again trying different establishments, more to get a feel for what is happening around the city. If she has been working an early or late shift, Faye will head out some lunch alongside a beer, and might venture to Genessia or even Fayren for that. She will stay very clear of Everglade. Chances are, if you're out drinking or having lunch in a bar somewhere, Faye will very possibly be there too. Always alone, usually keeping thoughts to herself. After a drink or two, she won't exactly look like the happiest woman you ever did see.
[Private Video]
Congratulations, Faye. I'm proud to welcome you to our team!
[ Ayame showed her pride in her warm expression, followed by a slight nod ]
If you need anything or have any questions, let me know. As a team, we assist each other in every way we can. Otherwise... Happy hunting, Deputy Valentine.
[Private Video]
Thank you. Between you on the rooftops and me on the streets, I'm sure we'll have a lot of bases covered.
*It was so weird to talk like that, like she belonged to a group. It had been so long since she felt a real part of anything. When Ayame called her 'Deputy Valentine', that actually got a warmer smile from her, maybe even a hint of a blush - that felt good*
no subject
[ She agreed, noting the change in Faye's expression and feeling her pride swell more at the sight of that blush. She's really happy for Faye. She takes a few paces to the edge of the skyscraper overlooking the city below. It's high up, but not as high as the other buildings in the distance ]
Perhaps we should celebrate your induction after work. I'll take you somewhere nice.
[ Whether Faye has heard of her inn yet or not, Ayame has a lot of places in mind apart from that though. ]
no subject
*Again, maybe it is the things she's had said apart herself lately, or the breakdown in communication she'd had with her best friend, but Faye was surprised at the invitation. Not wanting to appear ungrateful, Faye nodded gently*
That would be nice.
[Private Video] -> [Action]
[ Ayame closes the feed with a proper goodbye. She'd love to stay and chat but she doesn't want to abandon work, and make Faye look bad for being on the phone while on duty. But a part of her feels bad for having to promote her business like this, but at the same time she does want to help Faye feel better. She made her inn with that purpose in mind, so she figured that she might as well.
During the course of Faye's patrols though, Ayame took some of her own time to spread the news of Faye's induction to the Guardianship to the people of Nova, most of whom are aware already but Ayame's efforts reminded them of their own anticipation of this new Deputy Guardian. Ayame left and hid on another rooftop somewhere just as Faye's route take her to a plaza nearby. Citizens in the plaza greeted Faye with friendly waves and smiles, welcoming and congratulating the new Guardian. Ayame listens from where she stood for a moment, then leaving to resume her own patrol route. She hopes this warm reception further helps Faye's confidence for the rest of the day.
Another day has passed and the sun is beginning to set over Nova. Ayame is where she was, as promised earlier. Waiting by the gate while still clad in her combat gear. She raises her arm when she sees Faye arrive, waving and beckoning her friend over ]
Good evening. So, how was your first day?
[Action]
She heads over to Ayame with a nod and a smile as she approaches*
It was...nice. People were nice.
*Faye definitely sounds quite bewildered about this*
no subject
[ Faye's outlook is beginning to change. Not completely yet, as Ayame noticed Faye's bewilderment about all of this. It's going to take some time, and she's going to make sure to be there for Faye and help her adjust. Ayame takes the first step through the archway to Genessia, where she would just want to hear about Faye's anecdotes. Soon enough they'll make it to Fayren, where Ayame calls a carriage to take them outside of the city. Carriages provide a different feel than cars. It's a little rockier and slower, but at least they'll have more time to appreciate the woods in autumn along the way. The carriage stops and Ayame was first to exit, offering her hand to help Faye down like a knight would a princess. Before them, is a stone stairway leading to the Japanese-styled gate of Amatsu ]
Welcome to Amatsu.
no subject
*Faye just shakes her head in disbelief, amused to think that Ayame may actually be right about that. She fills Ayame in with the details of her day, again amused to see the carriage that has come to collect them - this day is just so wildly different to her usual days already. She smiles when Ayame helps her out of the carriage, then steps away to take a look at the stairway*
Wow... This your new place?
no subject
[ Ayame beckons Faye to follow, passing through the gate and the small path from it to the main entrance where she takes her shoes off, replacing it with comfortable slippers. She instructs Faye to do the same. ]
What do you think? It's a place with relaxation in mind, so we have spas and hot-spring baths, with various dining options as well if you're hungry. Which would you rather do first?
no subject
*She does sound impressed, though, rather than that she was confused or disapproving. When they approach the entrance, Faye gives a low whistle of approval*
This is really something you've got here.
*She's gazing around at everything as she pulls off her boots and puts them aside*
All of it sounds amazing. But I think I'd pass out in the heat without something to eat first. If that's okay.
[Action - Skyhouse Network]
Yo! G'morning!
[ She greets with an upward nod and a smile, briefly being distracted by Jimi pawing at her bare leg ]
You got time for some breakfast? I made some eggs and bacon. Oh, and some toast too!
[ She's not even sure if Gale even went home last night, but she's here with Faye so might as well strike up a conversation. They never really got to talk much before, and with what happened with those anons Andy is even more curious about the aloof woman. ]
no subject
That sounds excellent - like everything I could ever want in my life right now.
*She was enthusiastic when it came to being fed at least. Faye hadn't been sure when she learned that Andy would be staying with them for reasons she couldn't quite figure out, but now she knew it was definintely a good idea*
I need coffee in my life. You want some?
*Faye wasn't sure if any had been made yet, but she skirted around the dogs to get to the coffee machine*
no subject
[ Andrea cocks her head toward the coffee maker, shushing the dogs that crowd at Faye's feet to let the other woman through ]
Hope you like your eggs a little runny in the middle. It's great that way the with the toast and bacon.
[ Andrea puts a couple of over easy eggs on a couple of plates, putting a few strips of bacon and a couple of pieces of toast all neatly before strutting toward the table to place both plates on it. [
Been a while since I got to cook for others, I missed it!
no subject
*Faye takes two mugs and fills them with coffee. She carries them over to the table, then fetches some sugar just in case Andrea wants any. Finally, Faye sits down in front of one of the plates and nods in thanks*
This looks great. My appetite has all of a sudden completely come back to me. So thanks.
*Then Faye picked up her cutlery and got herself tucked into the food immediately*
no subject
You're welcome~
[ She puts the milk down and gives her coffee a bit of a mix along with a couple of teaspoons of sugar, mixing it again before looking at Faye with anticipation. ]
How is it? Not too shabby, huh?
[ Andrea's not cocky per se, but her cooking is something she's sure of after decades of making this same breakfast most mornings since middle school. She takes a bite out of the bacon first, smiling at Faye ]
Been eating these since I was really young. Always gives me a lot of energy.
no subject
Andrea. This is delicious. You're staying forever, right?
*Her way of saying that she is very grateful for this food. She looks up at her and nods with a smile as she continues eating*
Mhm. I can see why.
*Then she puts her cutlery down so that she can take a sip of her coffee - she's going to be finished her breakfast in no time, otherwise*
no subject
That depends on our boss Gale whether he wants me to or not.
[ She shrugs with a wink, eating alongside Faye while sneaking a piece of bacon down under the table for her 11-week old sheltie to eat ]
He was kind enough to let me stay here on my first day. We're both fighter pilots back home so we kinda have that camaraderie, yanno? Even if we're both from different worlds altogether. He's a cool dude.
[ She takes a bite of the toast ]
So how did you two meet?
no subject
*Faye smirks and digs back into her breakfast which is disappearing very fast. She only stops for a second to watch the new dog*
Huh. I'm a pilot too. Not a fighter pilot but...it can end up like that. But, yeah, he is.
*She just casually notes to herself that not only is this woman hot and a good cook, they also had more in common*
I arrived and wanted to know where I could go for a drink. Lo and behold, Gale answered and offered me one. He's good at that.

Re: [Video]
Would you be open to questions? I still struggle with the level of technology in Nova City, so having someone else to approach to ask questions would be a tremendous help.
Sure. And if I can't help then I can ask Gale or around until I can figure that out for you. I'm guessing you don't live here...?
Re: [Video]
[Which probably speaks volumes about what he's accustomed to. However, that's just for personal comfort. He could get by just fine in any city other than Nova City.]
Alright. Well, if you're ever in Nova and it's all a bit to much for you, you just ask for Faye Valentine and I'll come help you out, okay?
Re: [Video]
Video;
[ Kyrie gives her a soft smile in return. ]
Video;
*Faye blinks a little in surprise but still manages a small smile - she isn't used to people being nice*
Video;
I'm... not really much of a tough person myself, but I'm happy to know more people here are passionate about helping.
Video;
*Faye smiles a little and waves a hand towards herself*
That's what we're here for!
Re: Video;
Video;
And someone should probably keep a closer eye on Gale.
I'm kidding. He's a great Guardian.
video
Video
*Yeah, she knows what people say about her, and 'girl' was putting it mildly*
And oh, no. The bar nights are definitely still on the cards!
no subject
no subject
*She almost looks embarrassed about the idea - she doesn't think she's good enough*
I suppose you're right...
no subject
Is your new job going to be dangerous?
no subject
Yes. Probably. I suppose that depends on whaf shit goes down and who uses the place to kick off.
no subject
This place seems pretty peaceful. Dolls aside, I mean. So I’m sure that you’ll be fine. Not many people have the guts to start a fight when there are people actively against them, you know?
no subject
no subject
Well. Good luck. Nice of you to step up to the plate. That takes some guts in itself.
no subject
*That gets a real smile from her - it feels so good to have people recognise that*
Thank you. I'll do my best. If you need anything, just let me know.
no subject
If I do, then I can't wait to be arrested!
no subject
Video
We've met before, but to make it official... I'm Satou Kuroneko, Deputy in Attleton and Detective in Everglade! If you need anything, please let me know. We may work for different cities, but we do share a common goal of peace and safety~!
Video
*Faye added that last bit cause she worried she was sounding too sweet*
How...are things in Everglade?
Video
How is Nova City? You guys have the AI Police force there, right?
Video
Nova is Nova. And yeah, all robots and technology. They do their job, but I know I always felt more comfortable having a guardian and deputies that are more...fleshy...around.
*Because Gale isn't exactly human*
Video
Is that so? I guess that makes sense. Like how here in Everglade, we somehow have normies on our police force... Ah, not to discredit how hard your job is, of course. What about your other Nova City Deputies?
Video
*Faye flinches a little at the mention of 'normies' - she knows that her status as a human puts her at the bottom of the pile for a lot of people, but she didn't know they had a nickname*
Everyone here knows what they're doing. And they've been very nice so that's...different. A good different.
