[Yup, it's Annie again. She looks visibly distressed, though, fists clenched beneath her chin.]
I don't know if the people responsible can see this or not, but...
Please don't curse the apples in the farmers' market!
[Her fists close together into clasped hands as she pleads.]
It takes a real long time to grow a good apple tree, with lots of love and fertilizer. Farmers work hard to keep their trees safe in storms, so each apple is packed with care! They don't deserve to be cursed.
I'm gonna go stand watch to make sure they're safe to eat. If you have a reason for wanting to curse them, tell me what it is. Maybe I can help you find a better solution!

That does sound...bad. Has anyone come forward with evidence of, uh, cursed produce or not?
Video
I wouldn't know. I don't talk to too many police officers, so maybe someone did. I'm not even sure if a cursed apple looks any different than a normal apple. Hopefully there's something about them that gives it away.
Re: Video
Anyway, couldja maybe err on the side of caution? Not make yourself a target? Better safe than sorry. Farmers are more important than apples, after all. Maybe you could grow something else.
Like, say, cabbages?
[The ulterior motive comes out.]
Video
[And if she doesn't guard the apples, who will?]
Do you like cabbages? I could grow some come spring. They take a while to get ripe, but they're good quality from all the fertilizer I can add during that time.
Gotta get a farm soon too, but seems like I can't ask for farmland until I've picked up a job for at least a month.

[C WUT HE DID THERE]
But then, I guess stuff like this happening makes sense since Attleton doesn't have a real police force, right? Looking to join the neighborhood watch, maybe? You're definitely brave enough, heh...
[It's not like he likes cabbages or anything. BAKA]
Man, that long huh? Bummer. Something to look forward to then. Good luck on your job hunt; been trying that myself, but I ran into some trouble.
[A perfect segue to complain. His favorite.]

Does this world really have a method of cursing?

[She sighs, deeply bothered that no one's come forward about it yet, but she's determined to stand guard. Annie has too much free time on her hands.]

[She slaps her palms together, cheering up immediately.]
Why don't we take turns watching the market? That'll cut the hours in half. I'm a real early riser so I don't mind taking the early morning shift, but if you'd prefer that one to the afternoon, why I'll leave it you then!

[Because that's clearly what's important here.]

But that doesn't sound like it takes too long. Not as long as I was imagining.

[She suddenly realizes she hasn't introduced herself, so she shakes her head.]
Sorry, I'm being rude, aren't I? Ha ha! My name's Annie. What's yours?

[Too honest for her own good. She brightens at the sight of the scythe on his shoulder.]
Are you a farmer too? I heard there might be more around! I'm Annie, nice to meet you!
Re: Video
Hah? No, fuck that. Farming sounds boring as hell, I'd die!
Video
It's in Attleton, middle of town. You can't miss it! I'd offer to show you the way, but I'm not leaving my post.
[She folds her arms staunchly.]
Well that's all right, country living isn't for everyone. Where are you from?

Really? Come on, you're going to have a couple of bad apples anyway, farmer. That's a fact of life.
[grumble grumble]

Re: [video]
I'm Kii. I can say that you're one dedicated farmer at least, Annie. You should look for a magician to help with that.
..Curse business.
[Wait. WAS KII HELPING? OH NOOO]
[She doesn't.]
Nice to meet you, Kii! That's a good idea! I imagine there aren't too many folk like that here in Attleton, but there seems to be a lot in that forest place. ...Fay...Fayren, I think?
[She consults her device, then nods.]
Can you introduce me to any?
