Gale's Surprise 30th - Forward Dated to 13th October

[Mingle Action at After Life Night Club]

Invites will have gone out to everyone but Gale much earlier in the week - for Gale's surprise birthday extravaganza! Guests were asked to arrive from 7.30pm. Gale, on the other had, received a message from Faye telling him to meet her at 8pm, giving enough time for everyone to gather and get in the party mood before the birthday boy arrives. When he does, the band will strike up, and there will be a chorus of 'Happy Birthday, Gale!' This is all cringey as hell; for Faye, it's really rather painful. But Gale loves being centre of attention, so she's sure that he'll love this, really.

Refreshments and Cake: Faye has quite clearly had help with this - sourcing outside caterers and an excellent and impressive birthday cake. There is a table of buffet foods, and a table with the celebration cake and smaller cakes and sweet treats. Of course, the bar is available for drinks of any kind. Help yourself to food! There are some great discounts on drinks too for the night.
Dance Floor: This is a night club, so the floor is ready and waiting for your dancing feet! Grab a partner and dance the night away. However you want to dance is up to you - something fast and furious, or maybe there's a slow dance or two.
The Bar/Booths/Tables: Faye has decorated the area with black and gold balloons. On the various tables around the place, there are also party hats with gold tassels and party poppers too. There are even some glow sticks, and little tubs of bubbles; all the fun of a kids' party while still being an adult!

Everything seemed to have gone well, and Faye was relieved - putting a party together was more organisation that she thought; she wasn't exactly much of a party planner.

Once the initial surprise was over, Faye then moved into the background, happy to let the party continue. She had dressed up for the occasion, hair done up, red lipstick to match her red dress, a figure-skimming garment of a material with a shine, shimmering beneath the club lights as she walked. She hasn't had an easy time lately, so it was nice to have an excuse to look after herself and dress nicely.

Faye isn't on the dance floor, she isn't at the bar, but she is there and around if anyone needs her.

Hopefully she'll get the chance to speak to Gale at some point so that she can give him her gift, but she knows he'll likely be busy with other friends.

While she had been somewhat surprised to have received an invitation herself, Dove couldn't resist the pull of a good party, especially one hosted at After Life and for such a lively individual. Fortunately, her scheduling for the day had only consisted of an afternoon consultation with her agent, not terrible far from the venue itself. Once it was over, it would be easy to arrive on time and join in on the surprise.

While poised and well groomed as ever, she's certainly no where near as prepared as Faye for the event. She is, of course, clad in a backless club dress for the event, as well as her signature stilettos, but there's something in her eyes that doesn't quite suit the confident attire.

Regardless of hidden disposition, she does eventually have someone point her Faye's direction and approaches, drink in hand and smile brighht. "Hey! I'm told you're the mastermind behind this one. Faye, right? I think we may have met once... or twice." She might look fairly apologetic about that.

Faye noticed Dove in the group that assembled for the surprise, and it hadn't escaped her notice how good she looked either. Faye is minding her own business when Dove approaches, surprised that she would want to talk with her, but she nods. "Hi. That's right. I pulled some strings, brought this together."

"You did a phenomenal job," she tells her, glancing back out over the crowd in search of Gale. "I don't know him well, but he looks like he's having the time of his life."

Faye actually does smile at this, both pleased with her herself, and also in the knowledge that he was really having fun, and that other people can see that. "He's the definite centre of attention, we're all here because of him - he'll be loving that." She laughs kindly about it though as she shakes her head.

Dove can feel the reflection of happiness rolling off the other woman, and it makes her smile soften, even as she laughs. "Yeah, he does seem to have that star factor personality. I'm a little surprised I haven't seen him at the Agency," she grins, turning back to her. "I guess with all his clubs and the Guardian thing he probably doesn't have much spare time. It's nice that you've been able to give him a carefree moment."

"That's exactly it. If he had the time he'd be a superstar. For now, he makes do with being a celebrity in his own clubs, and as a guardian." Faye continues to scan the room; people do seem to be enjoying themselves, and Gale looks happy to mingle with everyone. "The man just needs to learn to take some time for himself, so I hope this helps."

She grins. "I'm sure it will."

There's a slight pause as she sips her drink and surveys the room again, silently studying the girl next to her with her Light. "How did you guys meet?"

They're obviously close, in one way or another, and while Dove isn't nosy, she is admittedly curious about their relationship. It's a lot of effort to go through for one person single handedly.

"I turned up to this world in need of a drink, like most people, and Gale of course answered with the offer of a drink at one hus own bars." Faye takes a sip from her own glass of wine. It was a straight forward enjoy question and answer, so she didn't think of Dove as being nosy for asking such a thing.

That's a laugh. "Sounds like Gale," she agrees, glancing back over at Faye. "I didn't meet him until weeks later, but this was actually the first one I frequented...I love the lights." The feel of the place resonated with something deeper inside her, but she never really could pin it down. "You two have obviously gotten closer, though, right?" Especially if she's throwing him a surprise party this perfectly tailored.

Faye nods in agreement of Dove's assessment of the place and takes a sip from her glass of fizz. "Sure." Faye looks around the room and her eyes follow Gale for a moment before she glances at Dove, then at her feet. "We've been roommates ever since."

Refreshments and Cake

[ She's not about to eat some of the cake without the birthday boy, so Andy can be seen taking selfies with the cake while making funny faces. The moment she sees someone nearby, she gestures to them to join in if they wanted ]

This cake is so cute! Like it should belong in a museum good-lookin'! I don't know if I could cut it up myself, I'd feel kinda bad.

Dance Floor

[ It's a little known fact that Andy is actually one hell of a dancer. Her background in the cheer squad combined with her physical enhancements make this as easy as breathing to her. Andy can be seen dancing without a partner to an upbeat song; her control and ability to isolate every part of her body for attention to detail is apparent. She is fluid and crisp and sharp and smooth, controlling her speed to match the rhythm and the melody of the song while looking like she's having the time of her life.

She smiles at any onlookers, beckoning them over to join her with a wink and inviting wag of her fingers ]

Bar

[ Andy arrives a little late to this party since she had to work in Fayren and then get ready for it afterwards. But she brought a gift! Hastily gift-wrapped and not very well done, but it's the gift inside that counts! But while she's at it, might as well get some refreshments to start the night ]

Yo. Hit me up with a beer, why don't ya.

[ She looks over her shoulder, seeing someone there ]

You want a pint? I'm feelin' generous tonight, so it's on me.

[Arrival]

[The man of the hour had suspected absolutely nothing. Still dressed in what he liked to call his "Guardian coat", he'd been on his way to After Life only figuring Faye was being nice about his birthday and wanted a drink together.

He was certainly taken aback at the whole "surprise" thing. Was this... was this all Faye's idea?]

Whoa now, what's all this? Oh, you lovely rascals!

[It's not often that anyone gets Gale off guard, and in this case, he's got a big smile on his face. "Rascals" indeed. Once he regains his composure, he raises his hand in the air.]

First round of drinks is on the house! Clearly I've got to share the wealth and generosity, right?

[He'd already made drinks half off to begin with today, so might as well go even further if they did this for the likes of him.]

[Mingling]

[Gale certainly enjoyed being the center of attention, there was no doubt about that, but he had to make it a point to go around and pester just about everyone who showed up. He was around just about everywhere- sampling the refreshments, getting down on the dance floor (because of course) and he may even be still diving behind the bar to serve drinks himself. He's all over the place.

He also made sure to get a couple of tassels in his hair, making damn sure he felt fabulous. Not that he didn't already. But gold tassels add a +2 to Fabulous.

He might be eyeing up the stage for a few brief moments too... before he shakes his head. He's already the center of attention enough, he doesn't need to make the crowd put up with his poledancing. Not tonight, anyway.]

[ Ayame sneaks her way behind the bar, wearing a fancy dress that hugs her curves and already looking a little drunk, so of course she's making herself some poison! She wanted to try something new. All her cooking practice has made Ayame love experimenting and coming up with new recipes. Taking some cognac, she places it right next to a giant watermelon. She smiles as Gale sees her, actually inviting him over ]

Ah, there's the master of the house! I hope you don't mind me experimenting. I was struck by inspiration all of a sudden with a recipe for a new cocktail.

[ Beat ]

Oh, and I brought you a gift.

[ She takes the a gift-wrapped box on the counter, tapping it with her fingers. ]

[....She sees him eyeing that stage. She can feel the interest even without the obvious glances.

Drink in hand, she makes the effort to bump into him, smile bright on her face.] Planning to show us a thing or two? [she asks playfully, nodding toward the platform.] Happy birthday!
