2nd Strategy - The Sword or the Knee [Action]
Who: Robin and Lucina (And anyone who happens to be hanging around!)
Where: A combat arena [SOMEWHERE IN FAYREN]
What: Robin arranges a tense duel/training session with Lucina. Word will probably get around once it starts getting intense.
Robin waits nearby the training grounds. She sent out the message in the wee hours of the morning, bright and early as if Lucina were still operating on soldier-time. 3am is a perfectly sensible time for such things, right?
The place she'd chosen was thematic enough - an old arena located in an older section of Fayren. It had taken her a while to find this place and convince its current owners to let the pair battle there. Its resemblance to the grey and black interiors of the Arena Ferrox where the pair had met in the past was not at all a coincidence. Parts of the combat grounds were scattered with the odd bit of cover, but there was more than enough room for either fighter to move around and get the upper hand, when possible. The Tactician considered this a means to bring their encounters full circle. Her brains and tactical skills versus Lucina's training and discipline.
Too early to have taught her yet, but not too late to learn from her, now.
She sat patiently at one side of the arena, hands folded into her pockets. Under her coat are the familiar gentle bulges in her side-pockets of spare spell tomes - some of them magnitudes stronger than any normal tome should be. She's brought out the stronger stuff for this one. At her belt, tucked into a jagged scabbard is a Levin Sword, worn and pockmarked with the stress of battle.
She's been preparing since before Lucina decided to come out here. She's planned for every eventuality and every move she can make, considering Robin knows that 'this' Lucina doesn't have nearly as much experience fighting alongside her as the one she knew.
Still, she had to do something, or she'd go mad from waiting.
"...I'm glad to see you're here. As we agreed, I've picked a place that will more than complement both of our skills. If you need to prepare anything beforehand, I'll give you a few minutes. But I should ask you something, before we started. Are you...truly ready?"
She regards Lucina seriously, looking her up and down before adding...
"I'll be honest with you. You'll be fighting an enemy that looks the same as me. An enemy that wears my face, will mock you with it and make you afraid to look me in the eyes. And like our enemy, I have the advantage, because I know quite well how you fight. The only way is to fight as if your life depends on it and hold nothing back. Expect me to do the same."
With that, she backs up a little, drawing her tome and blade and getting into fighting stance. She says nothing else, but her eyes cast themselves over Lucina once more, analyzing, watching, waiting.

Stepping out, the skies were dark and overcast, threatening the drench the earth below which meant this battle was going to be even more interesting depending on where Robin decided that she wanted to battle. Something felt heavy about that day, like it was going to hold more than what they were truely prepared for.
Following the coordinates that were given, it didn't take long until they were standing in front of the arena. The worn building held solid, resonating a strong feeling of when Lucina chose against their better judgment to fight against their father in the area, to test their strength and what they had learned up until that moment. Today it seems they would be doing the same.
Rain started to sprinkle down as they entered the large gate, empty stands echoed in a cicle around the perimeter as they observed the lay of the arena before them. Time or people, perhaps both, was not kind to it. It did give for lots of cover. Rain sprinkled in from cracks and holes in the roof, adding a bit more hazard to the area around. It didn't take long to spot the Tactician, eyes the woman over to see that she was armed to the brim.
Hearing what she had to say, Lucina drew Falchion, giving the blade a practiced twist before meeting them squarely in the eye.
"I'm ready."
In which Robin does her best Fell Vessel impression!
"I don't think you know exactly what you're dealing with, Lucina. Let me show you."
But damn those worries. She had to make sure her child was as strong as she knew her to be. She covers her hand with her face and changes the tone of her voice, almost to the point of mocking her.
"Hah...Surely, you don't think you can manage with such weak resolve, child. The future you seek is nothing but a lie. Better you seek redemption in my jaws than in false promises, human."
The tone of "child" was harsh and unkind, unlike the previous times she'd said the word. As if Lucina was so very, very small and she was the world itself. She steps forward and extends her arms, head turned towards the sky in a dark and sickening laugh...
"I see you haven't turned and ran. In that case, I won't rest until I grind your lineage into dust, Lucina. Until you suffer a thousand, one hundred thousand deaths. Perhaps that isn't enough for you? It was more than enough for your father and mother, after all!"
A few more steps, calm and measured. Her free hand, casually tucked away, was gripping a tome.
"Come child, doesn't your rage make you sick, inside? How long will you run from me?"
Lucina isn't sure what to think!
"Please drop the act Robin, I came here to fight you seriously." Lucina asked. Having heard Grima's voice before, there was something unearthly harsh and powerful with each word spoken, as if they could strike fear with a simple turn of phrase. It was unnatural and unnerving to say the least. Lucina then moved into action, ducking behind a barrier quickly before moving to the next to keep cover for now. Dodging would be heavily involved later and they wanted to conserve as much energy as possible to finish out this match strong.
It was hard to get close to a mage, even harder to move in on a person who uses both swords and tomes in their arsenal.
It begins!
Watching Lucina grow confused and duck behind cover, Robin smiles. Not a Grima-esque smile, but one that's almost proud.
"...If you're fighting an enemy who stole my face like that, it isn't as if Grima will acquiesce, child. You'll be surrounded on all sides, cut off from help as your comrades fight equally as hard."
She pulls out a tome and pages through it, launching a blast of Thunder down nearby where she saw Lucina duck in for cover. Almost too close. A moment later and another flash would land scarily-close to her hiding spot. They're low-level thunder spells but it feels she's purposely avoiding a direct hit on Lucina in order to keep her moving.
"Since you're out of range, I'll have to keep harrying you at a distance, then! You leave me no choice but to frighten you out of your hiding place! Stay still and that's another comrade you won't get back."
Another lightning strike. And another, and another. A bolt strikes the barrier and makes a noticeable crack in it. That could be a problem.
All a ploy to get Lucina in striking range. Lucina's specialty is close combat and hers is close to mid-range, after all. Robin has much more opportunity to move and strike, but for some reason, isn't really moving much herself. Despite her entreating Lucina to run around like that.
"...Cover's only viable if the enemy can't fire through or around it! Haven't you learned a thing from me! You're losing the advantage!"

It only continues! Also, more taunting!
That is, until her current tome is exhausted. She throws it aside and switches to her Levin Sword, holding it in one hand and not bothering to keep a tome in the other. She had plenty more to use, if only Lucina was at a distance. She wouldn't dare use her stronger spells if she risked catching herself in the aftermath.
"...Ah, so you've chosen to head straight to me, have you? Hope your skill hasn't rusted in such a peaceful world! You need to be able to fight alongside me, not just follow behind us, my child."
Something was wrong. She wasn't actively defending herself, just taunting. She swaps the sword to both hands, an odd choice of stance for an enchanted weapon like that, which can easily attack at range.
"...Do you honestly think you can protect Chrom like that?"
And her Levin Sword unleashes a bolt of lightning at point-blank range. If the other spells were mere distractions, this definitely wasn't. It was aimed surprisingly well, too. It was easy enough to anticipate and lead her spells, thus far. But close combat would be inevitable.
Oh lort that taunting
A sense of danger hit her before she jumped aside as a bolt of lightning passed through where she just was.
She took a guarded stance afterward, eyes and sword leveled at Robin.
"I'm certain I can."
