Action Log - closed to Erik
Raven smiled as she glanced around the apartment. It was not very big or very fancy, at least in terms of places that she had resided in the past. And still, it wasn't too terrible. She had a feeling that she could at least try to make it feel a little homey. She wished she had pictures she could put up of Charles. It was like she was starting from scratch all over again.
Not that she had not done that before.
At least here, in this moment, she wasn't alone either. A rather modest two bedroom flat would give them each enough space to live and find solace when they needed it. She'd been able to earn enough money teaching workshops to be able to afford the flat and buy some small things. Furniture, pillows and sheets, just the simple things. Sharing with Erik was mutually beneficial financially.
And maybe, just maybe, she wanted to see if they could reconnect.
With a sigh, she moved over to a window and stared outside. She missed Charles. And Hank. All of the team, honestly. While there were some nice people here, it wasn't the same as being at home. She'd been fairly reclusive since being pulled here. And part of her wished she could just hide until she could go home.
It was the most conflicted she had felt in a long, long time.

He follows Raven into the apartment, a bag of his clothes in one hand. He waves his hand in the direction of the door to close it and sets the bag down outside of what will be his bedroom. He comes to stand next to Raven and look out the window himself.
"It's a bit of a different view, isn't it?"

Sad eyes turn back to the window again.
Starting over from scratch. Not having much in the way of things. It did feel a little like Dallas. "It's not a bad place. Just... Different. It will take some getting used to."
no subject
"We've been in new places before. We'll manage."

Now that they were alone, with no prying ears and no visible bugs that she had been able to find in the apartment, she felt more comfortable talking about it with him. "Just... We make do. We let people see that we're working, settling... Whatever. We'll try to find a way home, but we have to let them thing we're getting used to it here. We have to be stealthy about this."

"This place...no one here seems to have a problem with mutants." There are even others who aren't mutants but have abilities of their own. He doesn't remember what was the last time that he felt this way. Not safe, necessarily, because he'll never feel that way again, but like being different isn't something to fear. "So many people here are different that no one is."

"We all kind of fit in." She glanced up at Erik. "It's the world we always wanted. The world Charles would have loved," she said softly. Charles. She would hate for him to be brought here against his will, but that didn't mean that she didn't miss him. "I could walk down the street blue and nobody would even blink," she whispers. It's an odd feeling.
no subject
"You could." Which is what she'd wanted from the start, isn't it? "No one here is afraid of us."
It's the first time in his life he hasn't been hated for something beyond his control. The first time, since even before he knew he was a mutant, that he can walk down the street without worrying about his safety, or having to hide who he is.

"It doesn't really matter where they got their powers from, as long as they use them with purpose." She glanced up at him, nodding her head slowly. "Doesn't feel good? Almost... We don't have to hide."
She was sure that this was only temporary. It had to be, they were going to get home eventually. And yet, a part of her wondered if staying was just easier. "It's weird. Not having someone fear us."
no subject
"Just because they don't now doesn't mean they never will."

Raven moved over to Erik, offering him one of the cups of tea.
"If nothing else, I've got your back. I know it probably doesn't mean much, but I'd fight for you. With you. That's why I wanted you here." She lifted her other arm, motioning to the apartment around them. "We do what we need to. We appear to settle and we learn as much as we can. And we make sure we watch out for each other. Charles may not be here, but we're still teammates."
no subject
"I want to be safe somewhere. Maybe here. I think we've got a better chance of that here than we do at home. " No one here has cared what he can do, or that he's different. So many of them are different in ways of their own, after all. "Until we are, we have to be on our guard."
Which is a tiring way to life live.
