Please pardon my intrusion--has anyone seen this doll?

[She holds up a drawing of a drawing of a rag-doll style boy with a striped-shirt, blue-hair, and a large gleaming knife.]

I am new here, and while I understand a lot is going on judging from the broadcasts, I'd be reassured to know if he's here or not. Thank you

[Soma blinks for a second or two on seeing the broadcast. On the heels of what happened with the dolls last week, this could be considered a little suspicious by some people.

He isn't really most people.]

We had a bit of a problem with living dolls about a week ago, but I haven't seen one that looked like that. Is there anything else you need help with?

[Which is part of why she's so annoyed he's not with her and missing.]

The lady in white laid everything out quite clearly, although I wonder if I'm expected to find a job considering my age. I have not yet studied the brochures, although I'll be doing that next.

[She doesn't sound that annoyed by any of it either, just pensive at best.]

...what do you mean 'living' dolls?

Inanimate dolls that gained the power of movement, among other, stranger ones. Some of them mirrored the kind you see in movies, others seemed to have picked images from their targets' minds to mimic. They were looking for 'friends' to take home with them... back to their island.

You look about the right age for the children's home, but if you'd prefer to make other arrangements, young people who are brought here are often 'adopted' by an older person under similar circumstances. I have a close friend who lived with that arrangement for some time.

I wouldn't count that as 'alive'. It sounds more like unsealed spirits.

[There is a blink after several seconds. She's less than impressed by the 'adoption' option, but it might be better. Still...]

Are we expected to go to school? What kind of life is considered normal, here?

I'd go with 'demons' personally, but that's a fine hair to split. Regardless, the incident was resolved with... relatively minor upheaval.

[To be honest, Soma isn't terribly impressed with any of the systems in place to deal with children. It's either impersonal or dangerous as hell, depending on which option the child takes.]

There was a school, up until a few days ago, when the owner was sent home by whatever whims brought her here. Now... basically, it's self education and adjusting to the world, then living in it. There are an insane number of different takes on 'normal' here - humans, angels, demons, vampires, robots, and literally everything in between.

A demon doesn't count as a 'spirit'?

[Perhaps there's a hint of wry amusement in her question. Then she's listening, before looking down and leafing through the pamphlets for several minutes. Finally, back up. There's a little bow of her head.]

Are...events like the people being attacked by living dolls 'normal' here too? How long have you been here, Soma-san?

Events are common, but not necessarily that type. It seems to operate on a schedule and with themes mostly mirroring Christian holidays. This being October... spooky stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if something else happens before or on Halloween itself. As for your second question... just over two years now. Sometimes it doesn't feel like it's been that long... others, it feels like it's been far longer.

Are you used to helping new arrivals then?

To an extent, yes. Until recently I didn't have the income to do more than point people in the right direction, though. Now... well, if you need a place to stay in the short to medium term, and don't mind if the accommodations are a little on the inexpensive side, I can probably provide some assistance.

[A curious gentleman with bright red eyes appear upon her screen. He's quite ashen in appearance, almost inhumanly so. His complexion seems somewhat purplish in the dim lights of his humble abode.]

While your little doll looks as fiendish as those who attacked Everglade, I can tell it's not one of those. [A pensive hum escapes him.] The others we're less like a ragdoll and more like marionettes.

[It's pronounced as 'boogie', and her tone is still flat and neutral. She is not at all bothered by the red-eyes or appearance, but she is noting it. Her own eyes are very very dark, but have a hint of gold to them. ]

Someone mentioned people were recently attacked by living dolls. BGE isn't alive; but I also wouldn't leave him willingly.

Everglade is one of the cities, yes?

[Holding up one of the brochures, which she hasn't had a chance to read yet.]
