Rage Against the Inevitable (Closed to CR)
[She should be happy. At long last, she should be. But lately, she just isn't. Ever since the masquerade, she keeps having recurring dreams of all her family and friends who either died or disappeared. And those dreams often involve losing those she has left.
At the first chance she gets, she sends a text some of the only remaining friends she had left: Soma, Mavis, Trunks, Ted, Remilia and Rose. Asking them if they have time to talk privately.
Anastasia can be found at the Holodeck'd in Nova City, running a combat training program where she can cut loose and fire off destructive magic one after the other, sounding off each of the names of those she's lost.]
Noah... Father... Sakura... Mamoru... Levy... Abel... Satsuki... Marc... I'm tired of losing people I care about.
[So yeah, at any point she said she's fine, she was keeping it to herself. She only stops recklessly firing off magic at holographic projected targets is when she runs out of her own reserves of mana.
Now's the chance for a friend to come and redirect her.]

She interrupts with a soft 'ahem.' ]

Remilia...
My belated apologies for making this request. I hope I didn't call you away from anything important.
no subject
You wanted to talk?
no subject
[She stows away her grimoire in a fannypack-like sling before moving her hands to hold her elbows.]
Stop me if this is too heavy of a subject, all right? It's not only a reality, but an inevitability, that everyone must die or leave us in some way. So I wanted to ask for your thoughts;
How do you think we should live with a reality?
no subject
As a near-immortal, I've learned to cherish every moment I have with mortal friends. And remember that none of them would want me to grieve forever.
no subject
[She sighs sadly.]
I question myself if I'll be able to really accept things as they happen. Or if I can live with these recurring dreams, or the reality that I could lose someone I really ...well... "Like." Does it just get easier?
no subject
no subject
I'd rather not have to deal with that inevitability. But, I suppose I can cherish all the time I have with you all.
[Even if it just gets more painful when the inevitable end happens.]
Thank you for talking with me, at least.
Video (cause lol what is text)
Sure, Anastasia, whenever you'd prefer. Where would you like to meet?
Video (what is text? A miserable string of letters!)
Anywhere is fine, I don't really care. I'm at the Holodeck'd if you happen to be in the area.
Re: Video (what is text? A miserable string of letters!)
Well, if anywhere will do, he'd rather go somewhere pleasing than the explicitly "Hollow"deck.]
All right. Let's see what's the matter at the...Sky Garden. The Forest biome; haven't seen that one yet.
Re: Video
I'll see you soon, then.
[She needs a bit of messing around with a map. She'll appear before too long.]
Re: Video -> Action
[It was, however, more temperate and warm, though not sweltering. It'd be a drastic visual change from the busy, metallic city below. She'll have to board a skyship to get to the floating, curated biome that held the questionably natural flora Nova City had.
Upon arrival they'd both be treated to the crowd of trees, some pleasurably gigantic. It always made Ted feel adventurous and blithe when he was small, and the firs and redwoods that reached the ceiling of the biome certainly did the trick.
Artificial sunlight poured through the gaps in the overstory. A roughly beaten path was there for those who wanted a guided experience. When Anastasia arrived, he'd sit up from the bench, smile, and motion that way.]
Good morning, Anastasia. Not too warm, I hope?
Action
The sky garden was unexpected, like a combination of nature and surrealism. Before meeting up with Ted, she makes a note to start coming here more often. When Ted does see her, she is alone. Not even a Pokemon is with her. All she has with her is her grimoire held in a fannypack-like sling and a bottle of strawberry water.]
Good morning, Ted. The weather is perfect, thank you. Plenty of shade is all I need.
Also, I apologize if I called you away from anything important.
Drat that cat
[He's out of important adventures to pursue. Thus begins madness.]
Well, the shade's patchy, but I trust you'll manage. All right, let's see the sights.
[He gestured to begin their walk. Anastasia certainly sounds composed, though whether that's due to maturity or rigidity he can't determine.]
Would you like to talk, or let, ah, nature do so while we walk?
[Some though conversation a vulgar addition to nature walks. Miraculously, Ted would agree to silence under the auspice of the activity.]
no subject
Anastasia slowed her pace a bit until she came to a full stop.]
I actually wanted your thoughts on a rather...morbid topic. Of course, you don't have to answer it if you don't want to.
no subject
Said thoughts turn inquisitively morbid, wondering what can of worms she'd like to open up. Still, as always, he's game. Glad for it, actually, lest An take his words seriously and suppose where they were walking was anything like nature.]
Of course. Then let's head off the beaten path into that copse there.
[A thicker part that would provide cover from light and company both. He led the way.]
no subject
Okay, so... It's not only a reality, but an inevitability, that everyone must die or leave us in some way. People we care so much about that the heart aches when we don't get to see them enough, forced to face a reality where we have to live with the pain of their eternal absence once they do leave. So I wanted to ask for your thoughts;
How do you think we should live with this kind of reality?
no subject
A pain I know very well, princess.
[He loses her with the next.]
...fortunately, "eternal absence" is not, in fact, reality, so we happily needn't live with that.
no subject
I suppose so, speaking from experience with Genessia. But the next Satsuki or Marc might not be the same we know. They might never come back. And they both disappeared one after the other in a short amount of time.
I'm afraid to lose someone I came to truly care a lot for...
no subject
Would the truth more immediately comfortable. Alas, there's nothing for it. One must submit to death in all its guises if one wishes to ever go past the temporary and ephemeral. Just know that there is no separation in the Omnipotence; seek the eternal, and you will, in the end, have lost nothing worth having.

Did something happen?

Re: [Video -> Action]
All right. I'll be here.
[When Mavis arrives, she can find Anastasia still battling holographic targets, practising with an experimental "Tetra Spell" before noticing her friend. She pauses the simulation.]
Oh, there you are, Mavis... I'm sorry to call you all the way out here.
[Action]
She smiles at her.] Don't worry about it. So, what's going on?
Re: [Action]

I don't think I have the universal answer to this question, Ana. I don't think anybody has.
In the world I come from, you can either accept it or get cursed by the gods because you refused to let go.
...So, I'd suggest you don't follow my example on that one.
Re: [Action]
[She sighs.]
I'm just tired of losing people I care about, Mavis. I'm tired of friends disappearing faster than I can make new ones. It's like my dreams are taunting me and now I'm afraid I'll soon lose him.
[Him being Soma.]
[Action]
...Oh, Ana. [She pulls her into her arms, gently.] The secret is to know that this is a possibility but, instead of being sad and revolting against something you can't change, just make the most of the time you have with the ones you love. It might end up being longer than you thought. And, if not, all the more reason not to waste a second of it.
Re: [Action]
But that would just make it hurt worse if they disappear, wouldn't it? That's exactly the pain Satsuki warned me about.
[Action]
It will still hurt. But you'll have more sweet memories. ...That's the way I see it.
The alternative is not to be around anyone anymore, just stay on your own and... that would end up in you turning crazy. [She's seen that happen before.]
Re: [Action]
[The shaky breaths come, it's proving harder than expected to keep her composure.]
This alone could drive me crazy...
[Action]
Re: [Action]
I suppose the only way to see if that's true is wait until it happens.
But can I really enjoy the time I have with you all feeling the way I do?
[Action]
[Action]
[She sighs again. She's doing that a lot.]
...I think a distraction is in order. Do you have a recommendation?
[Action]
Shopping. Or going to a tea salon to eat cakes. Or both.
Re: [Action]
[Something clicks as a realization takes hold.]
You know... Come to think of it, I haven't been pampered in a good while. Maybe a trip to a spa would be good...
