[ Those videos people put on YouTube and such where someone's pet has taken a camera and all of the animals adventures are recorded while the pet parent chases the pet down for the stolen device? They're totally a thing Peter Parker never thought he'd experience, but here he is, barely showing up in the background while his microraptor runs through a park, the device held in her claws as she runs through tall grass, occasionally stopping to look around, scent the air, peer intently into the camera before barking and hissing and continuing on, just out of peter's grasp. ]

Clever Girl! No! Drop it! I don't have the money to replace that if you break it!

[ Clever Girl stops long enough to look at Peter, tilting her head and clicking her jaws slightly before she snorts, probably even laughs and continues on. How Peter finally manages to catch her, no one can say for sure, but Clever Girl isn't easily distracted. Except for food. ]

Clever Girl! Look!

[ The dinosaur turns, watching Peter warily while Peter is somewhat shown looking mildly frazzled but otherwise amused and kind of out of breath. He's holding something small. Something possibly edible and when Clever Girl gets close enough, he drops the piece of food. She drops the device and as she runs over to eat, Peter picks up the device to talk. ]

Sorry about that, everyone. She's been trying to get this thing for the past couple days. I must have blinked for too long, or something.

[ An inhale and an exhale as he reaches up to fix his hair before giving the camera a wave. ]

Hi. I'm Peter Parker. I just arrived a few days ago. You don't need to give me the run-down. The holographic lady already did, and I ran into one of my best friends from another universe. Get a job, get a place to stay. I'm halfway there.

[ There's a sound from Clever Girl and Peter looks off-screen at the vibrantly green and blue animal before picking her up and holding her in view. ]

This is Clever Girl. If you understand that reference, you're already awesome. She's a troublemaker, but...think somewhere along the lines of a golden retriever puppy. It's all play, and she doesn't bite or scratch.

[ Clever Girl headbutts Peter's chin affectionately and Peter sets her down, addressing the device again. ]

I actually don't have any questions or anything. I just wanted to introduce myself and if, on the off chance anyone from my universe is here and recognizes me, please say hi. Or even from the universe I was in before. That'd be good, too.

[ A smile, another wave and his feed shuts off. ]

It is, in fact. She's a micro-raptor.

[ At hearing this, Clever Girl peeks her emerald green head back in, peering into the camera at the girl before climbing up to Peter's shoulder. At this point, her wings are evident, though not really designed for flight. More for gliding. ]

This place I was in a while back, they had a minor dinosaur invasion. The whole town lived in a series of glass domes. Outside the domes, you had your giant dinosaurs. Inside, we had a bunch of the smaller ones.

[ And obviously, Peter kept one. ]

[ As unnerved as Hannah clearly is, she gets over it quickly. If this is her reality now, getting so upset at every little thing isn't going to make the transition any easier. ]

Well then hello there, Clever Girl. That's...actually a really good name for a pet. Damn. Well no offense, Clever Girl, but color me relieved that doesn't seem to be an issue here.

[ Hannah bites her lip. Actively trying to integrate or not, Peter's whole spiel gives her pause. ] So this isn't the first place you've been dragged off to, then?

It was a line from a really old movie my aunt liked.

[ Clever Girl has heard her name and is peering into the camera again! This time she's studying Hannah carefully, even trying to reach for the device again, which Peter is pretty quick to move out of her way. ]

No. This is not yours. Stop.

[ Clever Girl huffs twice, growling some at Peter before gliding off his shoulder and off-screen, Peter moving the camera to a better angle so Hannah can watch the dinosaur play with a feathered cat toy. ]

I can honestly say that Clever Girl followed me home and my guardian in New Dodge let me keep her.

And no, this isn't my first place. Or my second, though to be fair? The second one I was looking to go to. This is the third, but for two out of three places, the basics seem to be the same. Find a job, find a place to live. Wait out your time before you get to go home again. I will say this much; this place has the benefit of not being a wild west frontier town in space. Fun as that sounds, it got kind of frustrating.

[ A dinosaur followed a boy home. It sounds like a teenage boy's wildest dream. Though Hannah imagines her own brothers would be rather unsatisfied with a dinosaur who played with cat toys. ] Well isn't that something. [ And really freakin' cute. Hannah can't help smiling. ]

Yeah you know, I'm not trying to rain on your parade or anything but that doesn't actually sound like fun at all. I mean waiting around to go home again seems like it'd be as bad as it gets, but then you add a wild west frontier town to the mix, in space or otherwise, and it's just...not.

Exactly. Like, don't get me wrong. I loved the people there. I made some amazing friends, had an awesome girlfriend and my guardian was one of the best people I knew.

But...[ His mouth kind of twists into an uncomfortable smile, like he feels like a complete asshole for admitting this. Which he does... ]

I'm too much a big city guy, I think. Kinda missed the New York skyline and the noise.

[ Not so much the especially bad shit going on in his world? But, home is home. ]

You had to leave your girlfriend and everything? Geez. [ Honestly, Hannah is wondering why anyone would let themselves form any kind of emotional connection with people in such a situation...but the reason doesn't take her long to figure out once she gives more than a second thought to it. ] Well at least you were able to bring something with you. Someone. You know, she seems pretty well behaved for a literal dinosaur.

Oh you're from NYC? I've been there a bunch. I loved it, even though it wasn't necessarily a great time. It's just got this energy. I'm from the suburbs, so. Haven't gotten much of that.

Mal fluxed out of New Dodge before I did. It was unexpected. There's no warning, Fluxing just...

[ It just happens and it clearly sucked for Peter. ]

I usually walked with her to school and when I went to get her, she wasn't waiting on her guardians front porch like usual. When I tried calling her, I got told the number was disconnected. Tried looking her name up in the towns directory, gone. My best friend had to tell me Mal was gone and he knew because he'd heard it from his girlfriend, who was Mal's best friend.

[ Complicated situation? You betcha. But he'll take that compliment about Clever Girl and let it distract him. He's smiling again, looking offscreen to where Clever Girl was probably stalking an errant leaf. ]

Y'know, it's weird? But where I was, it was kinda like a central hub to hundreds, if not thousands, of other universes. I managed to find books from a universe where dinosaurs still existed and there were pet manuals. It took a while, but it was worth it. CG is awesome.

[ A pause and then, added with amusement; ]

And hypoallergenic.

[ Fluxed. Hannah doesn't like the sound of that. But, listening to Peter describe the whole situation...suffice to say, she jumps on the change of topic. ]

Yeah, that...qualifies for weird. You seem like a dimension-hopping pro, though. This place seems pretty tame in comparison.

I mean, I don't want to brag but...experience does have me ready for this kind of thing.

[ Peter, thankfully, isn't bragging there. ]

So far, so good. The last place I was yanked to was pretty prone to regularly occurring incidents and craziness. And, maybe I just missed it because Clever Girl was being distracting, but I didn't catch your name.

What a charming pet she must be. [He seems to be sincere, and also fascinated by the tiny dinosaur.]

She is. She's the best.

[ Peter really is quite fond of the dino in his arms, grinning down at her before giving the guy his attention. ]

She's super smart. I have to build puzzles for her to keep her entertained and out of trouble. Since we just got here, though, I haven't really had the time.

Well, I imagine she'll have plenty to entertain her, here. Wherever did you find her?

This isn't my first trip to an alternate dimension. The planet I was on here had a brief and surprisingly harmless dinosaur invasion.

[ And he kept one. ]

And then later, I figured out that other planets in that solar system actually had dinosaurs for pets, so I ordered a few books.

Ah, I see. Wise of you to do your research, then, to properly take care of her.
