[ Sebastian isn't really sure he understands what is happening despite having watched the entire hologram tutorial. Which, to be honest, was kind of cool, but he just woke in another world so far from what he would call home or normal. New York can get pretty crazy sometimes, maybe more eccentric and unique than crazy, but his is surreal.

He's still standing next to the hologram tutorial, sort of stunned and uncertain. ]

Uh...hi. My name is Sebastian. I just arrived.

[ He's starting to freak out a little and it's a bit difficult to breathe so he's clutching everything he found with him to his chest and sort of looking around. ]

Um...I'm not really...is this place real? I'm-I'm lost. I don't know what I'm-I need to call my father.

It is real. You might be lost. It's possible. Or you could be found. Or you could be in the Matrix. [he draws back, shocked] Woah.

I'm the Professor. Your father might not be here but he also might be. Do you have a name?

[ Sebastian has no idea how to respond to that. It takes his brain a few moments to process before he sort of gives himself a mental shake. ]

Sebastian Carter Hokori-Anderson. My fathers name is Joshua. Joshua Anderson. Do you know if he's here? Where can I find out?

[ The idea that his father could be here is something to focus on at least. Instead of the rising panic. ]

That's a mouthful. I haven't heard of him, but asking about him if he is here is enough to ping him. Most people are on this network. I'm the Professor by the way. Nice to meet you Sebastian Carter etetera and so forth.

What do you like to do for fun?

[ Sebastian doesn't realize it yet, but the unexpectedness of the questions and the seemingly unusual approach this person is taking in their conversation has calmed him down enough to try and focus on actually answering.

And despite the confusing state of his thoughts and emotions he does notice one small thing.

The man has called himself the Professor, twice, without giving a name. ]

Fun? I-I read. A lot. I'm a cellist. [ The curiosity has gotten the better of him and he can't help asking his own question. ] What, may I ask, are you a Professor of?

[he was just checking to see if you were paying attention and isn't going a little bit loopy at all. Why do you ask.]

Oh reading. Brilliant. I love a good reader. Almost as much as a good cellist. I used to play the violin but I think that got deleted. Happens.

I don't know that it's possible to contact anyone from home.

[ Charlie's in the break room at her shop, pushing around papers and reading through them, trying to make sense of what she's seeing and doing...okay at it. She is, after all, shy of seventeen. There's really no reason she should understand any of this. ]

[ Well that's more than a little disappointing. What does he do now? ]

I'm not really sure I know what I'm doing here.

That makes the majority of us, I think.

[ Hang on. She's pushing an address to your device. ]

I'm at work right now. A place called Cake Town. There's two of them. This is directions to the one I'm at right now, if you want to talk in person. I kinda hate these things, but it's entirely your call.

I mean you could pinch yourself to be sure that it's real or not.

[Because that is normally what people do to check they are awake or not, right?]

Did you pinch yourself?

[ He's not even considering it. The scary part is he knows he's not dreaming. ]

No, but usually people do that if they think they are in a dream or something.

Thank you. But I don't think that's going to help.

[ He's not sure what will help, but talking to someone does seem to give him a bit of focus. He's also surprised by the people who are trying to help him. ]

Worth a shot and maybe a joke for someone in the future. But really, I get that there is a lot to take in with this place. Just be glad you didn't come in at a bad time like I did.

Hello, my name is Neito. Did you listen to the entire tutorial? It explains quite a lot of useful information about this place, but it's a lot to take in when you've just arrived here.

I did...I just- [ He considered trying to play it again, but if he accidentally broke something not knowing what he was doing... ]

I think I just need to sit down.

That's understandable. It's a lot. This community really isn't a bad one to wind up in, but obviously most people would rather be home with their loved ones than here.

[She doesn't often reply to messages sent by newcomers, being so new herself and knowing that there were people who were far better equipped to answer the questions then she currently was, but when the young man's message came out, looking so obviously distressed and panicking, those old parental instincts kicked in and she had to respond.]

Hello, Sebastian. I'm the Doctor. Yes, this place is real, and you're among friends here. It's alright, many of us are "lost" here, too. [She smiles reassuringly at him, and for someone who looks as young as she initially does, the expression is very motherly.] Are you still by the hologram? I can come find you and help you, if you would like. I'm not too far from there, myself.

[At the very least, she could help him calm down and get settled into his accommodations, help break the news to him gently. He certainly didn't seem to be the type who experienced inter-dimensional shenanigans regularly, with the way he was reacting.]

[ The voice is surprising calming, reminding him of his mother. The smile, too. He'd often thought his mother could stop a storm in it's tracks with her presence, something he'd witnessed on a much smaller scale during business parties.

He misses her. ]

I'm still by the hologram. Please? I'm still getting used to traveling around New York alone. This...this isn't New York.

[Normally, one might think it was just a mother thing, but well, in this instance maybe it was just a parent thing. She was still adapting to the "mother" thing, especially since her daughter was an adult and didn't need the protector she'd been as a father.

She nodded brightly, her smile broadening.]

I know just where that is, yes! Sit tight, I'll pop on over! [She was already pulling herself away from the workshop table, dropping the soldering iron onto its stand and making her way out of the TARDIS. It was a bit of a walk to the welcoming hologram, and she knew it would have only given him time to get back into his worried cycle if she ended the call, so she kept the video open whle she walked.]

I take it you haven't lived in New York long? I've been to New York a few times, lovely place, my in-laws lived in New York for a very long time! [She refused to let the sadness that fact brought up show on her face. Use shared experiences to make him feel more comfortable.] And you're right, this is definitely not New York. Hopefully you won't find Genessia quite as intimidating as the Big Apple, though you may be in for a few shocks form time to time.

What do you know about String Theory, Sebastian?

[She's going somewhere with this, honest. But if he's not good with all the sciencey things, then she'll figure out a way to explain it so he can understand.]

I've visited New York before with my parents, but recently moved there to attend school. It's my first time living alone.

[ Looking around he feels more alone here than he did in New York. At least in New York he could call his parents or even get on a flight home if he needed. He's completely alone here. The thought makes his eyes burn, holding his breath in an attempt to not cry.

It takes him a moment to realize he's missing most of whats been said to him and he quickly looks back at the friendly face, blinking and not to think about never being able to see his parents. He's still trying to move on from losing Jack. ]

If it has anything to do with musical instruments....possibly?

Oh, big steps, that! And scary! But that's fine, just because it's scary doesn't mean it's bad.

[She can see the way he's trying not to cry, and her feet move just a little faster. Poor thing.

The look of upbeat curiosity shifts just a little, still happy and open, but now somewhat amused. Ok, so science is out the window. Maybe she can work a music metaphor into this. She's got a doctorate in that, shouldn't be too hard!]

Not exactly, but we'll work with that. Imagine that each world is a symphony, made up of all these different parts that are combined into one big piece. Separate but also the same. This place is a bit like that, an' the different parts are the different cities an' the notes are the people and the events are the phrases that make them up. Now imagine that same symphony is composed from bits an' pieces of lots of other works, with the composer takin' what they like from each one an' shufflin' it all into the other one, so it's a mishmash of completely unconnected works! I'm from...Holst's "The Planets," an' you're from Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue.

Normally, the two symphonies would never be put together. Doesn't work, musically, thematically, at all. Some of them clash an' create discordant sounds. An' from the perspective of each part of the works, the thought that the other exists makes little difference, they may not even realize they're even there! But someone has done it, regardless of all of that, an' now we're just tryin' to figure out what it all means.

Take a deep breath or two. It's easy to get overwhelmed with all the new information, so just breathe for now.

[The man on the other end looks normal enough, aside from the blue hair. Which is normal, at least for him. And a reassuring smile.]

It's nice to meet you Sebastian, and it's okay to feel lost. This isn't exactly a situation anyone really can be prepared for, but you're not alone. Right now there are probably a few different messages coming in on your phone, and we're probably all trying to reassure you. That's because you're not the first person to find yourself in this situation. It'll be okay.

[ Does holding your breath count? Because he's either holding his breath or hyperventilating. Give him a moment to try that breathing thing. ]

[ Breathe in. Breathe out. He doesn't care that he might look a little insane clutching the things he woke up with and trying to remember to breathe properly. He just woke up in a science fiction novel he can't remember reading. ]

The hologram said something about being kidnapped? I woke up in a-in some-a cocoon thing. I feel like I was drugged. I had fruit and a bagel and some tea for breakfast...maybe it was the tea.

[Trunks is patient, and will let Sebastian have time to get his breathing somewhat under control.]

We're all kidnapped yes, and we all woke up in the pods. I don't know if you were drugged--none of us really know how we're being brought here. For now though, just breathe and stay calm.

[ Somehow hearing the truth isn't as comforting as he'd been hoping. Breathe in. Out. In. Out. IN. OUT. Not that he'd preferred being lied to, but at the moment it's a lot of truth to take in. ]

It's safe. Right? It's safe or you wouldn't be telling me to be calm.

[ Sebastian sits down right where he is, not caring if he's blocking anyone's path. ]

It's safe enough--this place can be dangerous, but right now where you are is safe enough. I'm telling you to be calm, because panicking won't do anything but give you trouble thinking and cause you to make mistakes.

Like I mentioned, there are a lot of people probably responding to your video. Most of us should be friendly, and genuinely do mean to help--again, we're all stuck here and in the same situation you are.

[ Crying is a real possibility right now. But he's not freaking out. At least, not as much as before. Especially now that he's sitting down. Which he knows looks ridiculous to anyone paying attention. He doesn't look to see if anyone is paying attention or calling the police to have him arrested for being crazy. ]

I read a lot of books growing up. I used to think it would be amazing to visit the places I read about.

Yeah, they always stick to the exciting part of the adventures and make it sound glamorous, don't they? Once you're more settled, you definitely need to check out the Genessia Library. Maybe take a backpack of supplies, if you're an avid reader you'll find it hard to want to leave.
