You know, I hate sounding like a broken record but...

[Nikola sighs as he pulls his phone further away to show off an apartment decorated for a holiday he knows nothing about. All around his kitchen table are books that range from children's Christmas books to books discussing Christmas to even the King Jame's bible which he found somewhere. He's been trying to do a little research and really, he's just gotten himself more confused.]

What I don't understand is why is there a holiday celebrating some baby's birth in the desert that somehow translates to the fact that for one night some jolly fat man in a red suit is allowed to break into people's homes through their fireplace and leave questionable presents for those that live in the home.

Or why people try to appease this man with milk and cookies and what makes it okay for him to determine what child is nice or naughty. Isn't something like that supposed to be the parent's job? Or why this holiday requires lights and a dead tree covered in trinkets.

[...There is a LOT Nikola doesn't understand about this. ]

Perhaps I'm missing something here, but, I really could use a civilized explanation..

[He pauses for a moment.]

And Rose, unless you're being serious, please don't try and tell me one of your ridiculous holiday tales about candy and monsters and one of my coworkers.

No. No testing! [She actually squirms a little, eyes widening with a bit of a blush that just might be visible over the video as she wraps her arms around her sides and twists a bit like she's trying to defend all of the potentially-ticklish spots even though Rose isn't even there.

Also, how dARe, she is a delight and one should feel privileged to be allowed to tickle her!

She focuses again, just enough to nod in reply to Nikola, settling down a little once she's distracted, though there was a part of her that suspected she'd end up with Rose sneaking up behind her to actually test it, now.]

Yeah. Uh. When we're hurt enough or just too old, instead of dyin', our bodies change. Heals the damage, but it also gives us a new...everything. Rewrites our DNA. Great way of cheatin' death, but also a little awkward when we meet people who aren't one of our own species, later in lives. [Yeah, sure, she said she'd explain later, but she's pretty easily distracted and Rose may have caused a little jitter in her train of thought, so now you're getting the short version, anyway.] An' no, probably not. But then it doesn't seem like the politics back home matter much for any of us, so...strange times all around. Doesn't mean it's not interestin', though.

[And there they were, the two of them being secretive and she's involved somehow. She quirks a brow curiously.] Well, then. Guess I should head up to wherever you've set up the offices, then, eh? Secret plans are great, when they're ours. I love a secret plan.

That's similar to what the Professor said if I remember correctly. Sometimes I wonder if my own species has evolved in a similar way with some of the individuals I know.

[He sighs softly.]

I'll be there in a moment Rose. I'm assuming your office?
