It was very odd to be moving into a place with a stranger and carrying the very few items he owned . Things that had been given to him, not packed for a trip. Sebastian hadn't purchased anything for himself beyond the basic necessities since his arrival. He called it an arrival trying to escape the paralyzing fear of reality that he had actually been kidnapped and woken up in a cocoon in a world where he was expected to live and work as if he'd just moved here on his own.

Adjusting had been...a challenge. But the people he'd met so far had been interesting and diverse and kind. And if he were completely honest he loved Fayren. It was everything he'd imagined reading some of his books and so very different at the same time. Fayren was beautiful and he was glad he'd found a job working there because it was the one place he could find some peace.

Another reason to love working at Cake Town was meeting one of his coworkers. A bouncer named Alec Lightwood. They didn't know each other well, but when the subject of finding a place to live came up somehow they'd ended up deciding they should be roommates. It hadn't taken long to find a place they both agreed and actually liked and now here they were.

Sebastian thought moving to New York had been a huge adjustment. At least he had moved with most of his belongings, things he loved and were part of his life. He missed his clothes, his books, his music, his cello. But looking around at their new apartment he found himself imagining for the first time since he'd woken up terrified a place he would like to fill with new things. New books. New music. Maybe even a new cello. Definitely new clothes.

"Welcome home." He murmured softly.

Alec couldn't quite believe that he had agreed to move in with someone he barely knew. He'd worked with Sebastian for a few weeks. They had a few things in common and was one of the few people Alec had meet either back home or in this new place that he actually enjoyed talking to. If they both hadn't loved music, he probably wouldn't have considered sharing an apartment.

But, if he was honest with himself, he was lonely. Alec had always lived with someone. His family or Magnus. The idea of going home to an empty apartment was heartbreaking. Which might not be the best reason to move in with someone but if Sebastian loved music as much as Alec did, at least that was something that they could share. It also meant that when Alec started his music collection again, his new roommate wouldn't be angry over having music playing all the time.

Most of the things he owned could be placed in one box since he wore his weapons. Looking over at Sebastian, Alec noticed that he had almost as much as he did. Maybe since they were sharing expenses, they could both get some things that reminded them of home. Maybe eventually they could make it look more lived in. "Welcome home." Thinking of the loft, he wished the space didn't look quite so generic. "It needs more color."

"It does need music and books." Eventually they would have those things. Setting down his own box, he looked around for a place to set his weapons. Eventually he'd have a few hidden in most rooms, but his angelic ones would be kept in his room. He'd have to find a rack for them the next time he went exploring the city.

"I'm not sure what colors I'd like. Or what styles," he admitted, turning a slow circle around the room. He liked the decor, but it lacked the welcoming flamboyance that Magnus had sometimes preferred or the sense of age that the Institute had held. "My ex used to change the colors and furniture weekly."

"Sometimes daily but it was usually weekly." Daily was unusual but it had happened a couple of times. "He's a warlock. He can snap his fingers and new furniture appears." Usually disappearing from some warehouse or store.

"I'm not really sure what we'll need." Other than the rack and other furniture to keep his weapons. "I've never lived on my own before." It probably sounded stupid considering most Mundanes didn't live in the kinds of places he had. "I lived in Church before and then with Magnus." It couldn't be too difficult to figure out what he'd need but he was sure that he'd forget a few obvious things. "They might. I'm not really good with color. I used to just go with black, blue, and green." And gold but that color didn't have a place in his life right now.
