(Daenerys would rather avoid this conversation; she has had to shoulder the burden of loss too many times.)

To keep memories alive, describe them to all who will listen.

(She has made herself comfortable, reclining on a small sofa. Even relaxed, she looks every bit a queen.)

Those we love will return to us or they will wait for us when our time comes. I have seen my husband and son; I know this to be the truth. For now, we live and carry on in their stead as best as we are able.

Sounds like an effective way to deal with the loss. It's fine to mourn when you need to, but you mustn't let it keep you from living your own life. There are still others who depend on you...regardless of who you are.

Well said, my lord. There are more reasons than you realize to live and to have hope.

I can guarantee you, if I stopped living just because people I cared for are 'gone'--they'd kick my butt repeatedly.

[It's a sad smile.]

Living is not the easiest thing, but that's why we work together, right?

Did--did you lose someone in the latest round of disappearances too?

(A faint smile follows and she rests her chin on her hand.)

We are not alone, that is true, and I think, in the end, that makes all the difference. If we were alone...

(Loneliness has a way of making everything seem impossible.)

Thankfully, I did not. But I have lost many dear to me, so I know the pain of those who suffer now.

[There's a look in blue eyes, shadows. Too many losses, and familiarity with that loneliness. But it's only a hint, as he's trying to smile too.]

I did, but at least here--I have hope they went home, instead of other alternatives. I also hope that they're together, because if they are--they can do anything.

Then you have little to keep you awake at night. (She's...teasing. Worry has robbed her of more than a few night's rest.) We must be strong and remember we can only change what stands before us.

[Oh if only she knew. The nightmares had lessened a bit while in Genessia, but never fully went away. They'd gotten worse again, with Bulma and Vegeta's vanishing.

Not that any of this showed in his expression beyond those shadows in his eyes and that hint of smile. Practiced, to show to others that he was 'fine'. Really.]

We're all stronger together, that's for sure.

(Daenerys notices the shadows and she expects she has a pair of her own. Don't worry, they are a sign of experience. Much of life isn't pleasant.)

That is kind of you to offer, but I'll be alright. Thankfully, I still have people here---but the losses do all kind of add up, don't they?

[At least he's able to say all that with a bit more than a hint of smile. And remembering his manners, with a small bow.]

Losses aren't forgotten and they do increase our misery if we don't have time to heal.

(Even with healing, the pain can be too much to take when it is renewed.)

Maybe a few months under a year at this point. I should have a better sense of time here than back home, considering the days are a different kind of full and busy but--well...

[A shrug.]

Do you ever wonder what those people will say when we meet them on the other side? What they think of us?

I hope they realize that I have tried to do my best; that I have followed my heart and that I have never stopped loving them.

["Never stopped loving them" is a bit complicated on Darc's part, but still, he nods at Daenerys's words.]

If you're right, they'll see that we never stopped fighting for what they left behind for us.

I've seen messages on this device saying others have disappeared from Genessia. Does that happen often?

I can't say. (She assumes it does and that is...disturbing to say the least.) We should be prepared for anything. Timelines cross, the past and present collide... It can't last forever.

You're right. More and more, it sounds like this is the place for "expecting the unexpected." [He smirks, just a little bit.] Hopefully no one will show up that we have to kill all over again. Well, I can think of one or two people I'd like to kill a second time...

As can I. (Her smile is sharp and almost predatory.) Justice can be enjoyable, though I try my best to be unbiased.

[Nods] I do too - that's something a ruler ought to be. Though it's not always easy, having just finished fighting a war.

We must leave our personal feelings out of politics as much as possible. What we see before us, what justice dictates is all that should matter.

[Allen couldn't help but smile slightly. Honestly, he always chooses to feel guilty on things that are not at all in his control, including when people he cares about leaving.

So it was nice to hear something like this, even if it would take a while to believe it himself.]

Those were some very nice words. I'm sure they will help a lot of people.

I know what it's like to grieve. For the time being, we must treat the disappearances as a death or deaths. They are beyond our help and our recall.

(Otherwise it's maddening to imagine them reappearing and disappearing and reappearing and so forth.)

[As much as he doesn't want to think that Link died... again. But they couldn't prove anything else happened instead of that.]

True, it really was beyond our help. But it means we should look forward and focus on what we need to do.

What do you think we should do? (How does one tackle a new world where timelines converge?)

It depends. In the last world I was it needed help and that's what I did.

But this world... We aren't told that we are here with a purpose. So really...finding that purpose would be one thing and if there is no reason finding a way home. Though for me...I will just continue helping those who need it no matter what.

You're a very kind and selfless man. I am happy to help others if there is a need, but I can't forget my world. I have so many people depending on me.

We have reasons to go back. But learning here isn't so bad until we do.
