Good afternoon, everyone! This is Guardian Satou of Genessia speaking.

It has come to my attention that there is something unusual happening in the cities of Everglade and Fayren. For those of you who have encountered something, please consider giving me a report. We'll be able to get to the bottom of this faster if we have more information.

The Genessia Training Center will be closed until this issue is resolved. Shota, Toshinori, Hizashi: You're on paid vacation. I will be turning the center into a temporary shelter for anyone displaced by the events in their cities. If you need a place to stay, please inform me. I'll do what I can.

How are things looking in your cities? Genessia seems to be unaffected: I'm not sensing any distress out of the ordinary.

How should we proceed? It seems the issue is fairly large-scaled.

Bulla, Allen, Rogers, Lea. I'd like for you to tighten patrol around the Archways. The problem seems localized to Everglade and Fayren right now. We absolutely cannot allow for it to breach Genessia, and potentially spread to the other cities.

Bulla: Nova. Allen: Fayren. Lea: Attleton. Rogers: Everglade.

If you notice any suspicious activity, let me know.

[Here's a volunteer to give a report. To say Takumi is a mess is an understatement and it clearly shows.]

What do you want to know?

[Well, he doesn't look... well. Satou does soften her tone, though she isn't going to disrespect Takumi by babying him either.]

I'm hearing conflicting reports of what the threat is. Please describe your encounter. Where did it start? And what are we facing, exactly, from your point of view?

[Like he has any emotional strength to resist being babied at this point. But he appreciates being heard out here.]

About the other day, in Fayren near Lakendell. They're called Faceless, giant abominations created by the Nohrians to harass the outskirts of my homeland. They don't think, or fear. They only know how to rampage.

[And since the Nohrians disappeared shortly before the Faceless appeared? You bet Takumi blames the Faceless appearance on them.]

A threat from your home... I've never heard of that before.

[Not threats without pendents, anyway. Satou taps her cheek thoughtfully, the gears in her head turning. He seems tired. Probably from fighting, sure, but that was apparently days ago.]

Were you injured? You seem unwell.

I'm just...tired.

[It's true, at least. There's no need to go into details.]

Is there anything else you want to know?

No, it's just... Well. Are you able to rest, at least? Is your home safe? Being tired in these circumstances isn't good. Do you need a place to rest?

Yeah, my home is still intact. Thank you for the concern, at least, Guardian Kuroneko.

[It's mostly the exhaustion of the heart. All that trust building and then splat.]

Nova's in the clear as well. I've been patrollin' both ground and the air with Yveltal and Aerodactyl, but there's no sign of anything. There haven't been any reports either.

[There was probably at least one report panicking about Yveltal, but he was responsible for that one. Why isn't this city used to his legendary pokemon by now.]

If you need help with shelters, I can arrange something in Nova.

Help with the shelters would be fantastic. I'll let you know how many people respond, and we'll work from there.

I'm still unclear as to what we're dealing with, but I'll make sure it doesn't leave the affected Archways.

Roger. I already made sure Stormrider HQ can double as a shelter, between that and your place, we've got two set already.

As long as we keep our respective cities secure, we can at least mobilize a force if the problem gets out of hand. But I'm sure Guardian Azura and Guardian Remilia can handle it.

[Satou doesn't plan to leave Genessia, unless someone absolutely needs her. But her city, being the bridge between all of the others, is an important first line of defense.]

Have you gathered any intel about the threat? I seem to be getting inconsistent reports.

[He trusts Azura to be able to handle things, but Remilia? Pfffffft. He'd sooner trust his cat to defend the city.]

I think I've got about as much as you do. For once not everyone is screaming about it over the network, and the ones that have got different shit goin' down. It's kinda makin' me wonder if we've got another repeat of one of Genessia's favorite tricks.

I've been half tempted to go to Everglade myself to see first hand what's goin' on. I'd find my own intel more reliable.

If you're intending to go yourself, please let me know which Deputy to turn to if you have a problem. I don't want to immediately discredit everyone's difficulties and assume this is a small problem.

I'll be keeping my post here in Genessia, unless I'm otherwise needed. If you think my empathy may come in handy, I can head out to do a quick scout. Otherwise, I shouldn't leave our connecting city without a Guardian. This might be a distraction.

[He hesitates a moment and then shakes his head.]

Yeah, you've got a point. Distraction's more of a possibility than I'd like to admit, now that you mention it. And Trunks might end up goin' over there anyway from the sounds of things.

[Not that he wants one of his deputies to help Everglade, but whatever. Not his call to make unless something happens in Nova.]

Probably good to know for future reference anyway, if I end up out of the picture somehow, go to Grievous first. The rest of the team is reliable, but he's been a Nova deputy for a long ass time. He's got seniority here.

If Trunks is the one going, I'm confident that things will be okay. He's quite good at what he does.

[She doesn't like to think about something happening to her, but...] In my case, I would trust Bulla to take over for me. Hopefully it never comes down to that, but thank you for letting me know. Your deputies all have pretty leveled heads.

Whaat? And me goin' would be a disaster?

[He asks with a teasing tone to match his smirk. Really... depending on the level of things going on, him going could be a disaster... but he in himself is just a disaster so. At least he could make a joke out of it.]

Nova's got a reliable team, that's for sure. I trust they'd be able to handle things well if I got myself eaten alive again at some point. Not that I plan to have that happen again.

[There's a reason why he avoids Fayren like the plague.]

We should probably get similar information from the other Guardians later too. Assumin' any of them has hired more than one deputy. I can't say I've kept up too well on other city's affairs in that regard.

Nightmares have become...a reality.

[Hi, Satou. Long time no see, hm? Or rather she may have seen him only on the big stage as of late. Augustine been rather busy lately maintaining his celebrity status. He had two concerts as of late in Everglade. They were meant for a private venue, for the most part. The nobility residing in Everglade pay big money to see this opera singer perform.]

In laymen terms, it seems someone has made our deepest fears into living nightmares. [He explains while trying to comb back his hair. Augustine is a bit disheveled right now.] I battled such a fiend not too long ago.

Mr Augustine! These aren't the best circumstances for a reunion, but it's good to hear from you again.

[She frowns at his news,] Would you describe the threat you encountered, from a magician's point of view? What makes you think they are based in peoples' fears?

[Dante wakes up late with Starbucks somehow. He's talented like that.]

Doesn't seem to be affecting Attleton at least.

Strange. So whatever the threat is, it wasn't able to take root in three of the cities...

I wonder what we should do. Fayren and Everglade are huge. They may need assistance.

I wouldn't say it couldn't take root just yet, just that it hasn't. It's possible that there's someone causing all this. I've seen weirder powers here. It could be that they just don't have the range for it. There's a possibility that once they have whatever they want out of Everglade and Fayren they'll move to the other cities.

I've got my people - er, person rather - on high alert and I'll do more patrolling myself.

Hm... If I'm thinking of what Fayren and Everglade have in common, it's a lot of unexplored territory. If it is someone else's power at work, they would have plenty of space to maneuver...

But they can't be in two places at once either, can they? Could there be a source somewhere in those cities..?

That's not all they have in common though. Think about the demographics. Fayren's got the largest concentration of mages here, and Everglade has every variety of magical non-human you can imagine. My guess is that whatever is behind this is preying on some sort of magical weakness or something.

Can't say for sure, but that's what my gut's telling me anyway. As for sources... it's possible there's two people or things working in tandem.

[Lea frowns, but nods.]

Gotcha. And I'll keep my phone handy too, just in case; given that I can teleport, if someone needs a hand right away, I can get there quicker than most.

So it really is only two cities affected then?

That seems to be the case, yes. But if it has any potential to spread, we're the first line of defense. As awful as it is to say, we need to keep the threat contained to Fayren and Everglade until it's dealt with.

[Now that he knew that, he was starting to wonder if what he saw was a part of it and he had just overreacted.]

I will make sure it stays within Fayren... And trust that the others are doing their best to deal with the situation.

Kuroneko-san, as a private-citizen in Nova, let me know if Capsule Corp can help with resources. As a new deputy in Nova, I'll talk to Gale about what he'd prefer or allow in terms of help. But you know I'll help where I can.

Here's hoping, although I doubt we'll be successful.

[Leaning back in his chair and thinking for a moment.]

I could try and put together some basic kits of items in a storage crate people who've been relocated might need. We haven't figured out how to make any capsules that'll contain anything bigger than a car, here, but that still gives us some wiggle room. Depending on what the places set up to house refugees are like.

[There's a sad smile.]

Before coming here...Mai and I, among others, were in hiding and mostly reliant on underground bases and whatever rations we could find. So, I have a basic idea of what might be needed at bare minimum.

Honestly, this might be the kind of thing that's good to just have, for people anyways.

[Now he's thinking like a businessman too.]

[She's sad to hear that about his home. Being in Genessia must be a luxury for him too, then. It isn't something that she wants to have in common with anyone.]

... Mm, same. You're right that it may be wise to have ration kits prepared for emergencies. In the same vein, I should have had a shelter ready to go here in Genessia already. I suppose that's something to work on.

First thing's first: The rations would help. We also need to gather and consolidate information.

[Have a practiced smile, Satou. Ignore the shadows in his eyes, as he is fine. Really.]

After this, we can talk. About preparing things and about where I'm from, if you want. You're always welcome to visit the house. Or I'll come to you if you want. For now, do we know if aid and/or rescue missions are in the works to help evacuate people?

Got it. I've got some space in my studio in Nova that people can use to sleep in. It's not the best place for people to live in, but it's better than not having any shelter at all.

Thanks, Bulla-chan! I don't know if we'll need much extra space just yet, but it's good to have more options. Ideally, Fayren and Everglade will contain the problem on their own.

Have you been in either of the cities?

Hopefully. There are strong people in both cities. I guess Jolly Eddy's will be getting lots of extra work right now.

I was only in Fayren long enough to pick up Link Jr for Allen. I didn't run into anything unpleasant while I was there.
