[Ace is sitting and staring, brows furrowed a little. This whole situation has really gotten him frustrated. He went from either dying, or being damn close to it, to this. And while he's absolutely fine with not having his life ended, there's no amount of questions that are unanswered and he's worried for the people left behind. He really did screw up, there was so much he could have done differently, so much trouble he could have saved for those who had to suffer because of his choices and convictions. He's not even sure that his attempt to save his brother worked, and he's not certain he can handle not knowing if those left behind will be okay or not.

It's easier to live without regrets when death is actually the end and you don't have to experience any further consequences.

And now, he's got this second chance but it's overwhelming somehow. He's not going to take for granted a round two at life, but where to go from here when everything is so new and different is exhausting to think about. And somehow exciting too. He's got an idea of what he needs to do, but he's still a little in shock about the whole situation.

After about a minute, he realizes that he's been filming himself, and actually decides to speak.]

Okay, so I'm-[Ace stops mid-sentence, and his head rolls back at an awkward angle. And he starts to snore, while the camera just keeps recording. This goes on for quite a while, unfortunately. And then as suddenly as he passed out, he jerks upright again and blinks. It's a confusing day as is, and narcolepsy doesn't help with that.] Damn. Happened again. Anyway, I'm Ace. If you've got any good information that might help a guy out, I might make it worth your while. [He probably won't.]

[Rip's horrible like that. She'll enable Ace to fluster Smoker every chance she gets just to amuse herself. Of course, she'll turn around and go drinking with the idiot just to see the results of her hard work.]

Exactly~. I blame zhis vorld for my sudden fondness for alcohol. It vasn't available to me in any of zhe ozher vorlds I've been too.

[Pause.]

Hold on, I take zhat back. Zhe vorld I first met Namur, Marco und Grell in had booze. I just vasn't interested at zhe time. But yes, Smoker has issues.

[She's definitely a good fit, and Ace likes her already. Which is good, he's the type to play nicely for the sake of his crewmates no matter how he feels about a person, if one of Pops' sons cared about someone enough to stay with long term, they're important and to be treated as such. But it's a lot easier to do when he seems to get along with one of those people from the start.]

Okay, how much worse should I make them? Because this is starting to seem like a challenge. [And Ace loves a challenge.

Oh yeah, he's had a couple offers.] Yeah, thanks. You're great. [Namur already offered, but still, it's different when Rip, who he barely knows at all, is willing to offer a place for him to stay.]

[At this point in her life, Rip gets along with most people to varying degrees. She's just always happy to meet more people to consider family. That alone has become important to her in recent years...it's something she never realized she needed until she met Namur.

Then again, Namur's helped her through a lot of shit in the last few years.]

Maybe it is~. Vorse enough he admits vatever it is zhat's bozhering him to you. Considering how stubborn he is, it may take avhile or at least some damn strong alcohol considering he has quite zhe tolerance.

Zhat also goes for just talking too. Places like zhis can be a real trip first time around, especially if you just came from a point in your life zhat vas.. traumatic.

[While Ace doesn't know what she's thinking, for obvious reasons, he'd understand in a way if he did. Family means everything, and loneliness eats up at a person in a brutal way. He felt so alone for so long, and his brothers helped him to open up a little and be a better person. And then after that, Whitebeard's crew. He never lacked in family, and love, once he'd accepted it. But the problem is keeping closed off enough to be safe, but open enough to accept what you need.

He'd be glad to know that Namur helped her through things. And he already appreciates someone who can keep up with his friend and crewmate.]

I'm up for this. He's great when he's flustered, and besides, I wanna know what made me actually want this in the past. I'm not the kinda guy who goes around banging with Marines, so this is a hell of an eye opener and I need more details.

[He sighs. She's got a point with that.] Yeah, that's... [His arms cross and he doesn't quite know what to say.] Yeah, this place is a trip and it's messed up. But I'm okay. I've got family here, even more family than I expected. So it's not like there's gonna be a problem with settling in.

As for vat Marco isn't talking about, I might be able to help, I might not. I'm not sure. All I can say iz zhat I've only been vith zhem for zhe last two vorlds so, I don't know every story.

I wanna know all about her. What's she like?

[He bites at his lower lip a little as he listens, and Rip can easily hear him messing with something offscreen to try to distract himself from his stress.] I-Look, I can't handle not knowing. I vent through something similar in zhe first vorld I ended up in as vell. I just didn't get answers right avay und it left me...vithout closure until I found out.

[He's honestly glad that she's a part of his family now. This isn't the bonding he'd prefer, drinking and fun is way preferable, but her honesty means so much to him. And while his heart is aching and he wishes that he didn't have to deal with this at all, he also gets to go further from here. And do better than last time, he won't force his choices to hurt the people he loves anymore.] It kinda eats at you, doesn't it? I mean, it hurt. I couldn't even sit still, when I didn't know.

[In the last few years, she had to really think about what happened and even begrudgingly admit she deserved everything she got and the spiral she ended up in afterwards... a very destructive spiral that left her pretty damaged mentally.]

[She shrugged slightly. Rip wasn't about to get into an argument over who deserved their death more. It was pointless and go nowhere.]

[She can already guess he has a violent streak and penchant for trouble, just like the the rest of them. Rip's come to realize that it's a family trait they all share in one form or another. Besides, being well behaved was hardly any fun.]

And what's life without a little fun? I mean, there's a saying about all work and no play.

[He's trying to turn over something of a new leaf, but he was raised into violence with a heart that was hardened first and had to learn to be soft. Some things just won't go away, no matter how good his intentions are.

His world decided he was a demon, and he learned to be hard because of it. And no amount of love really fixed that defensiveness or need to fight.]

It makes you a razher boring person~.

[She snickers softly and relaxes in her seat.]

[She can understand being raised into violence.. Her world wasn't exactly a nice one and Rip had been born into war time and even fought in one of the most horrific wars her world had ever had at the time...

Rip knew she was a monster and took pride in it. She chose to be that monster for her own reasons right up until she died. Then things changed and well, now she was here.]

Or at least come to vork vith Namur und I some night. Zhere's always a few fights per night to break up.

[He's itching to test out his powers post death anyway. He's not sure why he has them at all, it doesn't make sense, unless maybe he didn't die and just... was dying. Maybe being in process of dying was enough to not lose his flames.]
