[video] / action for the daring
[It's really really dark out at night, but Smoker can be seen at an undisclosed location outdoors (possibly near you!) stacking rocks. Yes, stacking rocks. And occasionally throwing a few balls to the side and dog or wolf snouts peeking into view to bring back the balls before Smoker throws them again.]
What's more important in the alcohol you get? Strength, taste, or familiarity?
[Nope, that's it. He's not a talkative man. What'd you expect?]

[Action] By popular request, this dumbass
He's also ready to figure out what the hell got him to want to actually sleep with this grumpy emotionally constipated Marine. Especially since there was a trend of it, apparently. But more than that, he wants some booze in him before he asks about what happened after his death, and who might or might not have made it out from that battle alive.] Told you I'd find you.
[Action] lmfao oh no!
[HE SHOULD HAVE KEPT GOING.]
[And all 3 dogs are gonna tackle Ace in a bundle of affection and licks, especially Sami and Ash because they know him, (at least his scent) but even Chaser gets in on it, because the others started it and he won't be left out.]
I should have driven farther.
[HE SAYS THAT... but there's booze pretty much waiting for Ace whenever he gets out from under the dogpile or figures out how to carry them over.]

Hardly.
Though if the marines knew that was your secret weakness, they'd stop using seastone. I should say other marines. Isn't your Grandfather fond of dogs? I'd've thought you'd grown up with a dozen or so.
[Headpats each dog or snout, tosses some of the balls, and gives Ace the last one.] Just throw it. They'll bring it back until you get bored or they tire out. Unless you're carrying sausages again, in which case, congratulations, you'll never get rid of them.

Accessibility. Then strength.
[Text]
[He likes it, but...]
Some would say the best treasure is the hardest to reach.
[PIRATE OR MARINE?! -- Nah, Smoker's probably being paranoid. When 99% of the arrivals are neither, Portgas showing up probably already blew that quota for this month.]
[Text]
If alcohol becomes a treasure, then everyone's standards have dropped. [It's a survival method, not something to cherish. And he really needs a good amount lately to deal with what's been happening. What's happened. It's all the same, really.]
[Text]
[Could go either way with that answer.]
Some alcohols are rare.
[Which makes them too expensive for Smoker, either in money, taste, or just plain effort.]

[Voice]
Alzo, you are a fucking ass und owe me drinks now.
[Because she said so. Don't argue Smoker.]
[Voice]
[He's not even arguing. He doesn't know how derptastic the conversation with Portgas was, but given how Smoker wants to be so drunk he's blinded for a week, he bets it was pretty hellish.]
Re: [Voice]
[Good. At least he knows she's going to make him pay and she might as well be on the move to find him.]
Plus hunting vas literally my occupation in two of zhe five vorlds I've been in.
[Voice]
Good. Then you'll have no trouble finding me. What's your favorite?

So strength. [Because he finds drunk people to be hilarious.]
video;
What's the strongest where you're from?
video;
But that was extremely rare. Takes one drunk quicker though. Usually about one glass or two regardless of who they were. Always fun to watch what happened after.
Re: video;
Hm. [Sounds fun but... dangerous right now for Smoker.] Any idea if it's here? [Can always remember it for later.]

[He noticed him :|] On your way back? [It's been months since Smoker said anything, he should at least say hello!]

Yeah. [To teach more classes, but no hurry. May as well ask in the meantime.] What's with the rocks?

Taste about 45% of the time. I don't want to drink piss, thanks.
And strength 60% of the time. Because life is shit and then we die and it becomes more shit after that.

Numb enough I stop contemplating the fagile impermanence of relationships, but not so drunk I can't think clearly enough to make sober decisions and let my instincts overrule my caution. And light enough on the wallet that I don't have to cut back on anything. [Especially cigars.]
Hence why I'm leaning towards familiarity. Not for nostalgia, but I already know how it effects me, so no experimentation or guesswork.
