[Video/Catch All, backdated to April 15th.] Egglike Mishaps

"...Brrawk~! I squeal like a little girl when I see kittens for the first time~!"

The feed switches on in the early hours of the morning. A shrill voice can be heard in mockery of Satori's own, chattering in the background. Satori looks thoroughly worn out. A loud and rather mischevious parrot, which happens to be a riotous blend of colour, peers at the camera as if it knows very well what it's doing.

The mistress of the house mumbles... "Good grief...as much as I'm fond of animals, I'm starting to regret this one."

"Lots of regrets! Like wanting friends~!" The parrot replies... "Like how I regret letting my sister get in trouble all the time~! I blame myself, even now~!"

"...Oh, now you've certainly done it."

...And once more it screeches... "I'm not as scary as I act, isn't that right~? But I kill humans in cold blood when I'm hungry~! And enjoy it~! Brawk~!"

Satori's expression is all too tired from all of this as she wanders over, still in her bedclothes, and pat the parrot on the head, giving it a treat. For a blessed moment, it shuts up. However, it's thrown out a ton of emotional baggage she'd confessed to it. Big mistake, as it seems to want to compulsively announce it.

"Is anyone else dealing with this sort of thing? I'm starting to get a tad exasperated...I'm getting tired of it airing my dirty laundry."

"...Did you try to touch one of those eggs?"

Remilia is quick to appear. The little vampire was starting to wonder, though, if Satori might get in trouble. Naturally, she'll side with her.

"...Regrettably, I did. This strange bird was what I got out of the whole ordeal. It seems to want to embarrass me to no end."

Then, the parrot eyes Remilia through the screen and just gives her a Look.

"Brawk~! Remi's fashion sense makes me self-conscious and nervous~! She's way more fashionable than I'll ever be~! When we go out together, I can't compete~!"

"Ugh..." Satori just shakes her head and tries to avoid direct eye contact, now. "Just. Like. That. I don't want to be unkind to it, but it's very...very persistent in doing this."

That was... not terribly surprising to hear, really. She found Satori to be so cute whatever she wore.

"Quite different from last year's eggs..."

"Oh, definitely. At least last time was humourous rather than infuriating."

And the birdbrain cries out...

"...Everyone I love, I lose, eventually. People get driven away-- brawk~!"

Satori flashes the bird an unkind glare.

"You know, I'm not even that angry at that comment. I'm starting to understand how other people feel when dealing with me." An unkind and self-deprecative assertion on her part, but not entirely wrong - not everyone appreciated the whole 'reading minds' thing.

"Did you like old lady me?"

And now, Remilia gets annoyed with the stupid bird. And not just because it went and killed the moment like it did. She's not going anywhere if she can help it.

"And yet... the very thing that drives others away, brought me to you." Well. She could be a bit more tactful?

"A fairly blunt way of putting it, but I see what you mean. While I do drive people away, I don't always do it for long. Nor do I do it entirely because I hate people or wish them gone. Perhaps I'm fearful of others as much as they are of me, but that's beside the point. Love and hate are closely related - both obsessive and all-consuming desires that culminate in labeling someone the most adored or maligned."

"...But it is as much about understanding others and learning of all the little things that make them more than that. And you, for better or worse, took that risk. All the ugliness in my heart, you see as something beautiful." Satori chuckles a little as her third eye nudges the camera in a gesture of quiet affection for her dear vampire.

"...As for back then, do you have to ask, Remi? I couldn't care less what you looked like, so long as you're still of the same mind and heart. If anything, you were still just as graceful as you are now. Just the same as when I was temporarily human - you didn't seem to mind the inconvenience. I did. Immensely, don't you remember?"

And another little smirk as she jokes... "Honestly, half the time, I've wanted to complain to you about how much of a complaining type I am. I don't know how you put up with me."

"As clear as day. Though... I was at least still a vampire. I'm told I aged well."

"Ma belle, how could I not enjoy your company?" Besides, Patchy in a grumpy mood could out-grump Satori.

Having friends is great! And don't feel about Koishi, that's just how she is!

[No comment on the murdering humans thing....]

"...Ah, hello there, Rose. It's not that I mind having friends, I suppose. I'm...still quite guarded for most people."

The bird replies... "Koishi has to break the ice for me~! I'm so useless around people~!"

Satori doesn't shut the feed off, but nods a little in response to the human's replies. She knows Koishi's that way for a reason, but that doesn't stop her from worrying.

"I decided to confide too much to my new little friend, here, and I think it's been reading my diaries. It seems to be a little overzealous in repeating what it knows, in any case. Don't pay it much mind. As for anything about killing...I don't enjoy it."

She doesn't deny it happens. The parrot, however, stares into the camera.

"...Brawk...that was a lie! L I E! I don't like it~! I hate hurting people~! But sometimes I'm so hun--"

Satori passes it a treat, interrupting its rambling.

"Do you see what I mean?"

Arm fold!! "She's not useless! Satori's great! Don't talk about her like that."

Secret revealing is one thing, but Rose won't stand for insulting her friends.

A head tilt. "It's... okay. You feed on the emotions right? Um. At least I know Koishi does? You can't help your nature. But you're not going out and randomly killing willy nilly for fun. That's important. The bird is wrong."

"Oh Rose, your optimism for the non-humans of the universe knows no bounds, does it...? I'm a monster, as you know. I have killed before, as you know. But you're right. I'm a little worried about this sort of thing spreading around, though, even with that whole facility that makes substitute human by-products..."

She shudders a bit. It doesn't taste like the real thing and it's quite a bit artificial, but it gets her by if she can't get a real cut.

"The emotions I tend to feed on are fear-derived - or a couple other adjacent emotions like hatred and such. My reputation as a lonely and feared individual helps greatly with keeping me alive, but does wonders for my social life." She chuckles a little, bitterly as the bird stays quiet for a while, sparing her the agony of having more stupid things blurted out. For now. But it's watching.

"I dislike killing another sentient being, humans especially. If you think watching someone die normally is traumatic and depressing, it's surely twice as horrifying when you're privy to their final thoughts and feelings as it ebbs away. It's...something I'd rather not deal with. That's why that damnable bird is wrong. At the same time, humans are--"

"Brawk~! HUMANS ARE HORRIBLE CREATURES! DISGUSTING, VILE, THEY SHOULD ALL DIE! HUMANS ARE A BLIGHT! THEY SHOULD ALL DIE~!"

Satori adds with a snarl... "Nice try, you pompous feathered reprobate. I've mellowed on that stance since a century or so ago..."

She shakes her head...

"...I've had plenty of experiences with humans, good and bad that have made those initial feelings much, much more complex. But when Koishi became...they way she is, I blamed the humans."

None of that surprises me. I want to be your friend.

I made sure to avoid the eggs.
Usually the random changes are not worth dealing with.
At least it's cute.

"You have good instincts, at least. I ran into mine right outside my home and I'd assumed it was something laid by one of my avian pets until I saw the colours..."

Satori pats the bird on the head and it seems to accept the petting with a sort of smug satisfaction that Satori only reserves for herself.

"Yes, the bird is cute, at least. That's at least one thing I don't mind so much. That said...as for your offer of 'friendship', I hope you can tolerate my cutting wit and lack of patience for nonsense. If you run into my sister anywhere, she'll likely drag you to my home fairly quickly. But...I'm not quite one to so easily warm up to people, I suppose. Tell me a little about yourself."

"Come to think of it..." she adds. "...You're brave for wanting to talk to me after this bird outs all of my mildly annoying secrets."

I've been in Genessia for almost 5 years, so I have experience with stuff like this.

I like it when people are blunt with me. It's easier to understand.

I am dedicated to judo and lazy with most other things. I aim for efficiency whenever possible.
I don't mind having my mind read, because then I don't have to talk.

Koishi hasn't brought me over so far, but I'm not over the trauma from her killing me yet.

[ His goal is to be able to interact with Koishi without being overwhelmed by fear.]

I'm probably more dense than brave.
