[The cyborg appears, his tone and manner even more grave than usual as he makes his announcement.]
It has been brought to my attention that Nova City Guardian Gale Reinhardt has returned to his place of origin. I am certain he will be missed by many here and it was an honor to serve as his deputy. With his absence I am now your Guardian, at least on a temporary basis until the next formal election.
I will endeavor to serve the community to the best of my abilities.
Deputies of Nova City, report to me at once with your status and check in so we can confirm any other unfortunate disappearances.
If any of you, the public, have any concerns, they may be addressed here.

[She stares at the screen, her face locked in a shocked expression. As the moments wear on, it even looks like she's trying to contain her emotions.]

Anyway, we did that for about ten years. I'm just saying if you need a hand with anything, I can probably be of use.
I have many guns too.

I will keep you in mind should any assistance be needed.

I also hope that we can work together in the future.

However, should I not win the vote, I will resume my deputy duties without protest.
[As long as any winning Nova Guardian also wanted to keep him on.]

I have tirelessly served as deputy for all of them and for the city.

[Allen was more the type to if he had to help the city in his own way he would over staying in his current job. But he knew so far he wouldn't need to do that type of thing.]
I hope that you get Guardian next time then because of it though. I am sure people will have noticed that now.
(Sorry, I got eaten hard by real life. I'm late >.< ) Video--Private
Trunks Brief here, resident of Nova and working in Nova.
Video--Private (np!)

Well, indeed remain alert and patrol the city. Contact me if there are any major incidents. Unless anything especially dire occurs then we will maintain this diligence until the elections.
Re: Video--Private
I already do that for the most part, so I'll just keep on then. I WOULD like to meet in person sometime, since I'm the newest deputy, and you have a handle on things. I'm not in a hurry though.
Video--Private
Of course. I can make time when you are free to meet properly.
Re: Video--Private
Stop by Capsule Corp sometime, as I'm usually easier to find there or at home. Or I can come meet you, if you have a preferred time and place? My schedule can be flexible if I need it to be.

Re: Video--Private------->Action?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[That afternoon, as he said, Trunks is the only non-robot at Capsule Corps in Nova City. Most of what can be automated, has been automated and what can't be automated--Trunks either does himself, or hires a temp for now. Fortunately, Capsule Corps was still relatively small here compared to Bulma's world. It didn't require as much skill or knowledge, at least anything that couldn't be learned on the job or through dedicated reading, here in Nova City.
Especially since Trunks' background did not include 'businessman'.
An impression furthered by the fact that there seems to be a large 'pod' like object, about the size of a small-to-medium automobile set up in one of the project rooms. A door, one with half opening upward and the other opening downward to form stairs, is open and reveals what looks like a small kitchenette-set-up and another 'door' as well as hints of a room. A large antenna-like pole extends from one end of the egg-shaped structure.
Up on the top of it though, the current owner (and person whom Grievous is looking for) can be found carefully installing solar-panels, and checking against a small notebook. He's not dressed like a businessman, given the faded combat-pants, boots, and tank-top. Definitely someone used to being more hands on than behind a desk.]
Action!
Trunks Brief... So you work here?
Re: Action!
Just a moment, please!
[Mostly so Trunks could do a quick check to be sure the solar panel he'd just worked on was secure. Matching the notes, and he could finish installation of it later. Then looking up, pocketing the notebook, and jumping off the top of the Pod-house. An easy landing, and a small but friendly smile.]
Inherited it when Mom left--welcome to Capsule Corps. Owner and worker, right here.
[Grabbing a rag, not that his hands were that greasy, but better to be safe-and Trunks wiped said hands before holding one out.]
I think I've heard you referred to as General, but I'm also not sure if you're comfortable going by just "Grievous".
no subject
You may refer to me as either General or Grievous. The title is respectful but there is no ongoing war here.
[He took the offered hand after a moment, careful not to squeeze too hard.]
And do you prefer Trunks or Brief?
What time have you been giving to your duties as Deputy?
[He questioned. He considered Deputy or Guardian as a full time job, although of course others had had their own side projects or owned businesses. Grievous himself owned the Trauma Centre but he was relying on his volunteers for day to day management and for them to call him if there was any problems. He only stopped by to check on things there occasionally.]
no subject
[The care in terms of hand-shake was appreciated, but not as needed as it might be for some. Trunks was sturdier than he looked. Which, he really didn't look like a normal mechanic or businessman either.]
Trunks is fine, thank you. Mostly I keep my eyes out and my ears open, with less of a formal patrol and more of an ear to the ground and sense for trouble. I'm used to being part of a small guerrilla defensive force before heading here to Genessia. But my whole life has been spent being on my guard and watching for trouble and issues. I'm used to a looser patrol schedule, if any, of varying paths and routes to avoid patterns and detection.
[Maybe not as business-oriented or focused as the general, but clearly Trunks could switch to business mode just as easily.]
Things are, thankfully, different here in the cities than what I'm used to, and Nova is pretty well-taken care of. I have my license and have functioned as a bounty hunter as needed, worked part time at Torchwood before taking over here when Mom left, and am used to being a defender and protector.
[Clearly also comfortable dealing with Grievous as a person, cyborg/robot/other-whatever.]
no subject
Good, good. I have led armies both large and small, along with elite squads of only the very best. As temporary Guardian and if I am elected formally, I will want our group to be the best at protecting our city.
What skills do you have in fighting and with what weapons?
no subject
[Trunks responded easily, with neither pride nor humility. Simple statement.]
I'm used to being the only person around who can stand up to world-destroying threats--and I do not mean that to brag. I mean it as a fact, considering that I was the only one left alive who could, in terms of physical power. That's not taking into account the sheer determination to live and survive, along with the brains and cleverness of people I work with.
[Entirely businesslike, and matter of fact. That smile is gone though, and there is a hint in eyes and expression that look older than the 20ish he seems to be.]
Actually, if you'll come with me for a moment?
[Turning to lead the way to the main office, as Trunks *should* still have access... If nothing else, he'd kept a copy for himself in case it was useful.]
If you'd prefer a practical demonstration we have a gravity chamber on premises here although that's not generally advertised to the public. I also have a program set a Holodeck'd that I train with regularly, when I'm not sparring with my sister or Goku.
[The curved hallways of Capsule Corp fit in well with the Nova City style, and the office isn't too far. Certainly in the "Employees only" section of the building. Letting Grievous enter first, and keeping the door open before Trunks moves to the computer and clicks at the keyboard.
It's a sparse office, with small gadgets and bits of machinery here and there to tinker with. Also several different books--mostly on quantum physics. Notebooks, and a beat up chair. Also photographs. His mother, his father--a rare one of them together that he treasured. One of Mai, one of Goku, Bulla and himself in a silly pose caught candidly.]
Thought I still...had a copy--there!
[Turning the screen to let Grievous read. It wasn't quite a resume, but was a draft and modification of a file.]
I used to part-time at Torchwood 2.0, but kept a copy of my employee file I submitted.
[Which was what was visible on the screen for Grievous now.]
no subject
It appears that you are a very capable fighter and defender.
[He even sounds a little impressed, despite his next words.]
Yes, I would like to see a proper demonstration, at least of sparring. Are you familiar with a lightsaber?
no subject
[A bit of a sad smile, but overall hopeful.]
For all that I've been a lone warrior mostly, I'm not afraid or opposed to working with others. I know I can't do it all alone, either.
[Full disclosure, he felt. Talking as he worked though, turning the screen back towards him and shutting it down for now.]
I am not familiar with it. Would this be a demonstration against you, or against a programmed opponent?
no subject
[Grievous pulls back the side of his cloak. There are a number of pockets inside and three silver hilts can be seen. He pulls one of them out. A lightsaber that he holds away from Trunks and ignites. It comes alive with a blue beam of light and a humming sound.]
One day you may even face a Jedi. They use these weapons. They can cut easily through almost any substance... You should learn how to defend against them.
But for now... You may show me on your own, your fighting style.
no subject
Quiet for a several moments before he speaks.]
I doubt you want me taking one of those apart to study it, although that'd be the best way for me to learn about it. What's focusing the beam? How is the laser being contained without an end conduit?
[Trunks will get to the rest of the question.]
I'm familiar with energy attacks based on ki, and have a little bit of experience with magic although it's been at least 2 years, if not 3. Not sure if you're familiar with ki, but I can explain and demonstrate just as easily while showing you the basics of what I'm used to.
The Gravity Room has monitors for observation. It does lack the interactive aspect the Holodeck'd programs have, but the training drones in it are effective enough. Mother originally designed it for Father, and he's incredibly picky.
[Half of his mouth curved up in a wry smile.]
It's set with a default for Earth's Gravity, and I can show you where that measure is and explain the terms if you want. Or you can step in yourself for a bit.
[Focusing, even though he's still very curious about that lightsaber. Ready to lead the way to the Gravity Room when Grievous is ready.]
no subject
[Not to say Trunks already wasn't well trained but there could be new skills to pick up from a different opponent and he just means they'll delve deeper later into what both of them can do to protect the city together as a team. He also slips the lightsaber back away into its cloak pocket.]
The Jedi create their weapons using the Force. If it is taken apart it is unlikely that it could be recreated and may be rendered useless, unless you are also a Jedi.
[At least in his understanding of it. He knows how to use the saber, but he knows very little about how they are put together. That aside, he makes a motion for Trunks to lead the way to the Gravity Room.]
no subject
[Sparring and training were fun. Fighting for his life or others was not, but was necessary and Trunks intended to always do his best. There were always new skills and techniques to learn, and that was all to the good as far as Trunks was concerned.]
What's "The Force"?
[That was a new term to Trunks, as his brain was trying to remember if he'd heard that term before. He might've, talking with Martha and Ahsoka. He hadn't gotten to know her friend Ahsoka much, and Trunks missed working with Martha as well as just talking with her.
Leading the way though, the Gravity Room area was in same area as the workshop rooms. Of course, it was in a more secure area of the workshops. It was mostly an 'open-secret' among certain people that Capsule Corp had such a room. It had been on Earth, and maybe sometime it'd make sense to advertise it more openly to Nova City.
Something to ponder another time though, as they came to a closed set of doors at the end of a hallway. Trunks punched in some numbers, then placed his palm below on a sensor-pad below and the doors slid open. It was like one of the larger work rooms, split in two. One section (the smaller one) held some chairs, a water cooler, and a computer panel hooked in to a desk below a series of monitors. Heading over, Trunks waited for Grievious to join him before explaining the calibration settings and measurements and turning on the monitors.
If Grievous wanted to see the Gravity Room itself, it was the other area of the room--blocked off and with another keypad next to the inset door. On the other side of the door from the keypad-panel, was a small console and screen for calibration and settings.]
There are cameras within the room for monitoring, and there's an emergency shut off if you open this panel.
[Trunks pointed to a panel that was next to the keypad, pulling it open and showing his guest the shut off button and lever.]
Within the room itself are small drones within the walls that provide more active training. I can set it up from here, if you wanted to make yourself as comfortable as possible with the monitor area?
no subject
It has its advantages in battle, allowing those skilled in it to move objects at will and sense things others do not.
Generally only those who know and use the Force can wield such weapons as a lightsaber but I have been personally trained by one of them and my skill with it is greater than any of them.
[He can say that as his technological implants allow him to quickly adapt to any style. Those which Jedi or Sith may take years to learn and master he could within minutes. After the explanation he listened to the instructions about the monitors.]
Yes, go ahead. I will wait here and watch how you fight against these foes.
no subject
[Trunks had an eager hint of a smile-smirk on his face. Sounded like ki in some ways, which might've been how it'd come up with Martha and Ahsoka.]
It can wait though, as you wanted a demonstration.
[Sure that Grievous understood enough for an emergency and was comfortable, Trunks headed into the gravity-room. Something simple perhaps---100xEarth's gravity should work, with drones sent to 'stun' a saiyan if they hit him. Not enough to require super-saiyan, but more than enough for him to not want to let the drone's beams hit him.
A digital voice, more of a robot than a human, confirmed both within the chamber and on the monitors that the Chamber was now sealed. Gravity shift would commence in 5...4...3...2...1
It wasn't necessarily obvious from the outside, but the monitors showed the sudden shift from what Earth's basic gravity of G=9.8 M/s^2 to 100 times that within the room. Trunks just shifted to a ready stance. Alert, as panels in the chamber opened and small round drones flew out and started moving through and around him in the chamber.
Focused, and then the beams started flying. Small lasers, in addition to the drones themselves launching themselves at Trunks in attack. The beams were blocked with a visible corona of energy from Trunks's hands, or deflected with beams of his own. Dodging and weaving, as the chamber was large enough for more than just the basic movement. Large enough for two to spar if they were controlled and experts.
Nor was it confined to staying on the ground, as Trunks hovered and flew as well at times, to avoid or attack a drone himself. Soon clear that yes, he was extremely adept at hand-to-hand combat. In any ways, it was in his blood as well as what'd spent the bulk of his life doing.]
