[Gale Reinhardt was gone. General Grievous had announced that. Karla felt that David Haller was gone as well. Although his departure hadn't been announced, Karla could just feel it. She hadn't heard from him in some time. She sits with her device in her lap, fidgeting with her hands.]

Two of my friends are gone. Two...out of three. I feel more hollow than I've felt in a long time.

I've always felt that we should spend as much time as we can with our friends...because one day we would part ways. But no matter how much time we spend together, it never feels like it's enough. Is that why people feel sad when their friends leave...?

I'm used to being alone. I wasn't used to having friends, so I wasn't used to losing them. I'm not sure what to do...

Sadly yes. Among other things at least. Many different factors as to why people leaving hit hard. How close you were being one factor.

The fear of being alone, how close one was to the other, the wonder of what will happen next, if we will ever go home ourselves. There is a lot of factors now that I think about it.

Yeah... It's never easy when a friend leaves, no matter how it happens, and that's a big part of the reason.

Sorry to hear that they're gone.

[Slight pause.]

Did you want me to come over for a while? Or we could go out and do something too if you'd rather do that, even if it's just going to the park for some sparring.

Lea...

[She's glad to hear from him, especially now. She didn't want them to drift apart. His offer brings a slight smile to her face, if only for a second.]

That...does sound nice. Perhaps we can do both?

[She's wiping her face, particularly around her eyes. She's trying to keep her composure, but it isn't working too well...]

Have me come over for awhile, and then go out, you mean? Sure, we can do that.

[And the going out will likely involve ice cream at some point, because it's Lea.]

I'll be right over, OK?

Yes, that's it...

[She lets out a melancholy sigh.]

Okay. I'll wait for you.

[Lea nods.]

[Lea ends the feed there, but Karla won't be left waiting long. Because when someone who can teleport says they'll be right over, they generally mean it. It's only about ten minutes later- long enough for him to to put on shoes, settle his Pokémon, and lock up the apartment, that Karla will hear a knock on her door.]

Karla? It's me, Lea.

[Karla spends those ten minutes bringing her emotions under control. She can't spend forever missing her friends. She needed to make new friends, and maintain the one friendship she has left.]

[When she hears the knock on the door, Karla wipes her eyes with her hands as she walks over to open the door. She tries to smile for him, but it's a sad smile.]

Hello, Lea...

[Lea returns the sad smile as he comes inside. He knows this feeling, and it sucks.]

Hey, Karla. Before we get to talking, would you think it was weird if I gave you a hug? Cause you look like you could really use one, but if it would be too awkward for you right now...

[He trailed off a bit there, leaving the conclusion unspoken. She really didn't need awkwardness on top of everything else, so if she'd rather not, he'd be perfectly willing to respect that.]

[It's funny, because a hug is exactly what Karla had on her mind. So, instead of a verbal response, she steps forward, embracing him in a hug. She honestly doesn't care how awkward it is. A few more tears streak down her face, which she wipes by nuzzling her face into Lea's jacket.]

[Lea was mildly surprised at first, but then gladly returned the embrace. He smiles gently.]

I'll take that as a 'yes' on the hugs, then.

[He was quite willing to maintain the hug as long as he needed, rubbing her back a bit soothingly as he did so.]

Mm-hmm...

[Karla hums the response softly as she holds the hug for another moment or two. Then, with a deep breath, she steps back.]

Sorry...I don't know what came over me...

[She steps around Lea to close the apartment door before inviting him deeper into the room.]

So...what did you have in mind to talk about?

[Lea doesn't resist when she pulls away, but waves off her apology.]

Don't worry about it. Everybody needs a hug now and then, especially when things like this happen.

[Lea heads deeper into the room with her, taking a seat on the couch.]

Depends on you, really. We could talk about your friends some if you want; sometimes revisiting good memories that you had with them can help you feel a bit better. Or we could go the distraction route, and talk about something completely different. Whichever you think might work best for you.

There is never enough time to spend with those we care about. It's why people do make the best of it. It's what I had to be reminded of, honestly and I guess you already know that, right?

Sorry for the rambling.

Not enough time...that's true, isn't it? Time seems to fly...all this time I've been here, and it doesn't feel like it's been that long...

Yeah, I've been here just over a year now, but it doesn't feel like it. Time flies, but we just have to make the most of what time we have regardless.

Even with the hard times, we are still bound to go through.

[ Eye. Roll.

Neo likes having friends around, but she likes her own company. Mostly because a lot of people are dumb and annoying. Her response is through sign language, but a voice provides the help of giving them words people can understand.
