[Closed Log] Saiyan Sparring Session! Training and... Dance Lessons?!

Who: Goku, Trunks, Bulla
What: three Saiyans spar, and Bulla asks to learn a certain technique
Where: Gravity Training Room - Capsule Corp. - Nova City
When: some time in the afternoon

Whether it's helping his friends to get stronger, staving off boredom, or just having fun, Goku's first activity of choice is usually going to be training. (much to the chagrin of his wife) In today's case - it's a mix of the first and last reasons - Bulla and Trunks asked him to train, and he wasn't about to say no!

They had reached a lull in the training, with Goku taking a break after taking turns sparring with Trunks and Bulla. Still, it's not long before he's back up and ready for more.

"Okay - so what do you wanna do next?"

Training with Goku, and Bulla, was something Trunks looked forward to. Honestly he enjoyed training with most people considering he'd been solo for much of his life. It was also a good change from the mundane. (Not that Trunks didn't enjoy the mundane--that too, was a nice change.)

No weapons, just hand-to-hand for today. With varying rounds where some were free-for-all, others were 2 on 1. Taking the chance to breath, Trunks rolled his head and shoulders a bit.

"I'm open to suggestions. Bulla?"

Bulla's giving herself the opportunity to fully stretch herself out. After training like this, she's going to feel the workout the next day for sure and she might as welll make it a little easier on herself and ensure her muscles aren't more tense than they absolutely have to be.

"Fusion!"

After the way All Might talked about All For One before, she's been wanting to push herself even more to get stronger. She's also considered the possibility of some of the immensely powerful villains from their world showing up here. The sort that would push even Goku to his limits.

"I want to learn how to do it and then try fusing with Trunks."

Fusion? What like the Kais could do? Or his father and Goku with earrings?

"Wait, Huh?" Trunks blinked, the exclamation startled. How did Bulla know about it too? "Is that even possible? You need a kai or special earrings...or something, right?"

Definitely startled, and mildly panicked, as Trunks is trying to remember just how it had worked for his father and Goku versus Zamasu and Goku Black. Or if Shin and Kibito had ever talked about it, while he'd been working with them to prepare for Majin Buu...

"Well, that's one way to fuse." Goku thinks back fondly - it seems like ages ago that he taught Goten and Trunks, but teaching the dance to Vegeta was one of the last things that he did during his time in the Dream Docks.

"After Cell, I learned 'bout another way to fuse - this is a lot easier 'cause two people can do it whenever! Though it's got some drawbacks, but it might be easier to explain if I show you."

Standing up straight, Goku holds both of his arms horizontally, pointing them to his right side. "All of these steps are important - mess them up, an' the fusion won't work. Once you an' your partner are like this, take three steps towards each other while moving your arms over your head." Goku demonstrates, moving his arms in an arc until they're pointed in the opposite direction of what they were originally. "Fuuuuu..."

"Then you gotta make a fist and move your hands back to where they were! Also, be careful about the positioning of your leg." Goku demonstrates, holding the pose until he's sure that they see it. "...sion..."

"...Ha!" Goku strikes the final pose, staying like that as he explains. "Make sure your fingers are touching and your leg's outstretched. If your finger's off even slightly, then the fusion gets all screwed up an' you've got to wait half an hour."

Now that he's demonstrated it, Goku gets back into a normal stance. "It's not like the earrings where you can fuse with anyone - you've gotta be a similar height, an' you've both gotta keep your ki levels at the same amount. Still, Vegeta an' me fused like this, so maybe you two could pull it off!" ...It completely slips his mind that Vegeta would never, under any circumstances, want anyone finding out that he did the Fusion Dance.

"I can't believe you managed to convince Dad to do that!" Bulla can't help the fit of giggles that escapes her. It's not something he's ever shared with her, likely out of pride.

"But if you and Dad could fuse with your height differences...then maybe as long as Trunks and I balance our ki out to the right level, we can do this."

Trunks is still stronger and she knows it, but she's been working hard to catch up to him.

Don't mind my poor awkward Dork....he'll come around.

Trunks just stares as Goku does what is probably supposed to be a dance; then just blinking several times before groaning and hanging his head. "I'm not sure I believe Dad did that version to fuse with you--you're sure this works?"

Someone has crossed his arms in perfect imitation of his parents when they're being obstinate. At least he looks more skeptical and less angry-stubborn. "Besides" There goes the eyebrow raised up in even more skepticism. "you mentioned drawbacks?"

The idea of him and Bulla 'fusing' was less out there for Trunks to believe, considering some of the strangeness in his life. Matching their ki would take practice, but was do-able. This whatever-it-was that Goku just showed them though, was less believable to Trunks.

I love how his immediate response is basically "I don't believe you" haha

"It's actually pretty easy! Once I point out that either of you or Bulma are in danger if he doesn't, then he comes around eventually." Goku's gotten pretty good at figuring out what makes Vegeta tick, much to the Saiyan prince's annoyance.

"It definitely works, though. You do it all the time! Well, the smaller, younger you, anyway." It makes sense to Goku, at least. "The big problem is that it ain't as easy as sticking on an earring. If you mess up the dance even a little bit, you aren't in much of a state for fighting, and you gotta wait half an hour before you unfuse. Plus powerin' up means that you don't stay fused for as long, but I guess that's how it works for Potaras too."

If it wasn't for the fact that Bulla's seen the results of the fusion dance, she'd never be caught dead doing it. The results, however, are hard to argue with. She's seen and sensed the difference in power, and it's power she'd like to be able to call upon in an emergency.

"Why don't we try practicing just the steps without trying to match our ki for now? Goku's the only one who's going to see it."

Once Trunks has seen and/or felt the results of the fusion dance, he probably will agree with Bulla's assessment. For now, he's going on trust in Goku and Bulla. And a big dose of 'humoring' and skepticism--but at least he's willing to try.

"Alright. So, we have less of a height difference at least." There--finding a bright spot already. "We started how again? And we're probably mirroring each other right?"
