Page 1 [Video][Introduction]
[ What plays at first appears to be rather contradictory - Maratris certainly looks like the high-fantasy setting type, but from her body language, she seems like she handles the phone with the skill of someone who was quite used to them. She does, however, look a bit uncomfortable about the use of the video, not keeping eye contact with the camera for long.
She appears to be walking, though it's slow and aimless. ]
While I knew travel between worlds was possible, I didn't expect to be doing it anytime soon, or ever, really. The experience will certainly be interesting, though my excitement is certainly tempered by the context.
I also can't say I'm exactly in a rush to find a new job, and at first I had my doubts I might do much here, but the hologram's talk of monsters and bounty hunters has my attention. I'm not necessarily proud of it, but I do hold my own reasonably well and have experience in work similar to bounty hunting. I would not be opposed to other sorts of jobs, but, ah. They would need to be willing to work with someone completely new to that line of work.
[ There's a pause, and she clears her throat while looking a bit sheepish. ]
My apologies, I went into all that and did not introduce myself. My name is Maratris. ...formerly of The Righter's Guild, I suppose. There's no 'W' in that, by the by.

Bounty hunting is a rather good job to take.
[She did bounty hunting the last time she was here from time to time so she knew the basics, but never really did it full time.]
So I can't see why you shouldn't just do what you are comfortable with.
no subject
Likewise.
It's certainly something I'm skilled at, but suddenly being free from prior obligations, I realize I could do something else. Maybe.
[ A beat. ]
Not that I have anything in mind, just. The option is there, if a bit overwhelming.
no subject
[She at least had an idea she figured would be good.]
Do a job that you enjoy and like but you could also try new things in-between work. Learn new skills, see if anything else clicks with you. At least that way you have an income and you get to try out new things.
no subject
There's time for that here? My work left me pretty drained on a day-to-day basis even on good days back home.
no subject
[Mostly how to use a sword which was fun.]
Word of experience, head over to Everglade. There's some bounty hunters there too, yeah, but its pretty much more like what it is down below.
Oh, and be mindful that there are angels here. So keep an eye out for them if you don't want to get erased.
no subject
[ The comment about angels gets her attention, though, enough that she actually focuses fully on her screen and stops walking. ]
Angels weren't a problem for me where I came from, always too busy with their own business. I take it these are more proactive sorts?
no subject
What, seriously...? Are you sure those are angels you're talking about? You know. Judgemental, condescending, hates demons, spears them in the back, those sort of angels?
[Her hands gestures a rather violent stabbing motion as she says this.]
no subject
Oh, certainly, though they tend to prefer to bide their time and set up this enormous, grandiose display of showing their judgment and wrath and what have you.
Chasing down individual demons and devils and the poor half-tainted souls like myself is just too blue-collar for them. World's stuck taking care of itself for the most part, though now and then there's some who just feel like going absolutely bugshit because they got bored waiting for Armageddon.
no subject
Yeah, that sounds like them. Don't remember ever them helping out when I needed it, but boy they don't mind making sure they--
[Hold on a minute.] The world? Armageddon? Are you alive?
no subject
[ If you thought the laughter was hollow, the amusement in that statement is even moreso. ]
Armageddon hasn't happened yet, and who knows if it actually will - it's something the loud streetcorner priests like to shout about a lot.
no subject
Never thought I'd meet a cambion outside of Hell. Tough luck, though. Its pretty shitty up top even for a mortal human soul.
You have my sympathy. As useless as that is.

[Not unlike a lot of other demons, anyway. Being a live tieflng -- whatever that was -- but all of that begs a lot of questions which she already knows is NONE OF HER BUSINESS (tm)]
So, hmm... probably not, but...
[Its the only thing that she has to contribute.]
...may as well get the shitty welcome mat out and toss off a few handful of whatever is colorful. But yeah, you got questions? Can't say I got answers, but I'll give 'em a shot.
no subject
[ She's bitter, but like, in the tempered way one gets when you realize someone finally understands something really important that gets overlooked a lot. ]
Only thing off the top of my head is wondering if there's anything else dangerous out there like the angels.
no subject
...the heroes too, sometimes.

LIKE VOTING FOR THE GREAT PAPYRUS IN THE GUARDIAN ELECTIONS! NO ONE WILL REGRET THAT!!!
...WAIT, HOLD ON!!
[He sets the phone down, then busts out the pencil and paper. That sounded like a puzzle. A word puzzle, like those Junior Jumbles he was so great at. It's go time.]
SO, ERASE THE DOUBLE-YEW...AHA, THE PUZZLE IS SOLVED! YOU WERE IN THE RITER'S GUILD!
[He puts the scratch-paper to the phone and shows his work. Then realizes he doesn't know that word.]
...
WHAT'S THAT??
oh my GOD
WHAT.
This guy's...well, overbearing feels a bit mean. Enthusiasm, let's go with that. His enthusiasm is so much more than she expected, and the way he just goes all in on her offhand comment about the guild, and bungles it disarms her so much that she actually, genuinely laughs. Not at him, but alongside him. There's no malice, and it's small. ]
My apologies - it's 'righter' as in 'right and wrong'. A bit more work than just dropping the W. Our guildmaster, for better or worse, enjoys his wordplay a bit too much.
he can't help you now
[Glad he got that settled. Now he's occupied imagining what exactly they did.]
THAT SOUNDS...LIKE SUCH A COOL GUILD!! SO YOU ALL WENT AROUND RIGHTING EVERYTHING!? UNSTAINING SHIRTS, FIXING LOPSIDED PORTRAITS, PAIRING SOCKS WITH THEIR PERFECT MATCH???
