Action, around the Amatsu

[Tomoe was usually the picture of calm and control. Unless someone knew her very well one would think she never changed from the neutral baseline she generally showed the world--never overly happy, never overly upset, always just kind of... there.]

[Today is a little different. Her movements are jerky and clipped, her words are shorter than normal with a bit of an edge to them. Something is definitely wrong, though she isn't the sort to advertise the fact. Still, when she is not actively working on something pressing and immediate for the Amatsu she is actively hunting for something. She checks drawers, turns over papers, looks beneath furniture, even turns over rugs in some instances. Whatever she's lost, it is apparently something important, at least to her, and the longer it goes without being found the more harried she seems to get.]



[ooc; one, Okita Souji, swiped her journal and she is freaking out beause there are very personal and damning things written in it.]

Who are those Kamiyas?

[ Souji nods as well. Private no more, he already knows more than necessary of this marriage, only he won't tell Kenshin of course. ]

[He's rather proud of how even his voice stays when he mentions them. Especially Kaoru. But...he can't quite help the faint wistful look in his eye.]

[ He is able to sense a hint of pride in Kenshin's tone, which can sympathize with his own Kamiya. Also... he recalls something he read in Tomoe's journal about the Kamiya Dojo...

Actually, it is not for Souji to say something unless Kenshin decides to do so. ]

Seizaburo Kamiya is my subordinate. I hoped you would know him in your world. Good people they are, indeed!

[Pride, and he misses Kaoru already, as much as he's trying very hard not to dwell on. He would gladly take Tomoe over Kaoru. Self-sacrificing idiot that he is]

This one is glad to know those who share the name remain good people across our worlds.

[Kenshin's surprised into a laugh of his own.]

They certainly are spirited, that they are!

[....It could be a trap and he'd still go. But he still looks around, considering how much more he has to sweep.]

...I think I can afford a short break for tea without getting into trouble. [HIS WIFE IS SCARY OK? But he thinks this is worth it. And he appreciates the invitation, as it doesn't feel like a trap.]

[ Tomoe does seem scary, albeit he is used to it having Kamiya, Hijikata and even Saito smacking him every now and then. ]

If you do, I'll tell Tomoe-san I'm to blame. It will not be long for most of the staff to end their shifts. [ At least she isn't like Ei, Shusai Kondo's wife. That woman really scared him since he was a child. ] Come on!

[Granted Kaoru was more violent toward him, but still. He doesn't want to piss his wife off thank you very much!]

[Kenshin sets the broom aside, letting it rest near where he's stopped, and follows after Okita.

This gives him hope, though. Even people on opposite sides can get along, when they put their differences aside.]

[ Really sure Kaoru and Sei aren't cousins or something!? Also having Tomoe as a third doesn't help much, haha. Both Kenshin and Souji are such masochists. ]

I wouldn't like my new co-worker to be reprimanded on his first day because of me.

[ Still too early to reach such a conclusion, but it certainly doesn't rule out that they would really get along very well.

Now that he realizes, Kenshin is a little shorter walking beside him, the same size as Tomoe and both taller than Kamiya. Given his demeanor, truly someone like him was an exceptional killer? ]

[It wouldn't surprise him at all, were he to meet Sei! And they so are.]

[Kenshin's smile turns a bit wry.] This one has a knack for getting into trouble. [Sigh.

He's used to being one of the shorter people around. Short, and dressed like the wanderer he still feels. He's gone to great lengths to appear harmless. Deflection. Humility. And the occasional (intentional) display of clumsiness.]

[ Sei as the bushi Kamiya is as violent as Kaoru and Misao, even Sano. Poor soul, these two.

There's a childish expression on his face. ]

[ Like him, Souji is not taken very seriously either: he doesn't look his age, nobody would think he is a Captain, much less that he is a talented person with the katana. Quite alike along with the goofy and shallow attitude. ]
